Thanks for the new thread jam, will catch up and post later

Bornlazy · 24/09/2018 18:43

Mumsnet is broken - I can’t do returns either 🙈 Congratulations Mammy on your windfall, really hope it comes through for you. Jam is your ds getting nervous? Are you? I am really dreading the period where they gain their independence - think I’ll be a nervous wreck

LonelyOversharer · 24/09/2018 18:44

em that's a super cake, and a very very happy birthday to your big boy! How fast has that year gone?!! You are too young for Alvin, he's epic. Frugaleer before they were invented. Def look him up on you tube. Oh, my return isn't working either. Mumsnet glitch! Tea just peeped, back soon.

SummerDaize · 24/09/2018 18:48

My return key doesn't work either, but if I press the space bar until I get right to the end of the line and then start typing again, then the text comes out on the next line, as though I'd pressed return. l if I want to put a blank line between paragraphs, I need to put one letter in that blank line. l like this.

SummerDaize · 24/09/2018 18:48

aw crap. that totally didn't work.

Wolfcub · 24/09/2018 19:14

Mammy first impressions are really good.

Girliefriendlikesflowers · 24/09/2018 19:15

Thanks for new Fred jam 😊

That is amazing news mammy am really pleased for you!

We are back from dds hospital appointment, not great news as her hearing is still crap and she is now being ref for further investigations 😕 dd was upset as it just feels never ending with her ear troubles.

£4.10 hospital parking.

Girliefriendlikesflowers · 24/09/2018 19:16

Have my paragraphs worked? 😂

LonelyOversharer · 24/09/2018 19:20

mammy thats epic, I hope it's right and lands in your account (no sharing with ex), no need to even mention it. jam thanks for sorting the new thread out. Tea was late but delish...bread dough filled with cheese and salami/chicken - thanks pintrest! Toms from greenhouse. Spends £11 in the co-op on bits and milk.

Lonely that looks delicious!

Girlie am I right in thinking your dd had grommets? Are they thinking it's a long term hearing loss now? I have a friend who's dd is 7 and they're going through a similar thing. She's excellent at lip reading without even realising it.

Ds swam over ten lengths. So proud of him. He also had a go at diving.

thistimenextsummer · 24/09/2018 19:28

Perfect paragraphs girlie!

Thanks for the new thread jam - wow they fill up quickly don't they?! I've only been posting since late August and I think this is the third one!

Happy birthday EmDS! First birthday of first born is an extreme milestone - you can't believe how big they've gotten but when they turn 2 you'll look back and think 'but they were still just a baby!!' It sounds like you've had a lovely day and the cake is 🙌

Mammy that is such wonderful news about your refund. 🤞 for you that it's processed quickly!

In regards to making Christmas special wolf I'm sure just it being the two of you will be special enough. Not knowing very much background I don't want to say anything presumptuous or insensitive (again Blush) but after growing up in an often very unhappy household and having to endure the enforced jolly-ness of one day, when there might have already been a huge row the day before and we all knew no-one would be talking by Boxing Day, I dearly loved the first Christmas it was just me and my mum (I was probably about 15 iirc) - it was so relaxed, we ate what we wanted and watched what we wanted and there was no pressure to be happy - we just were! Your Christmas will be lovely as you'll be in a whole new headspace.

NSD for me today. Monday's usually are as it's my busy/long day. However I was supposed to get some ingredients for dinner and forgot so it's pasta pesto again

Justanothermile · 24/09/2018 19:31

Thank you for the further thank you's Grin

I'm on an iPad and all seems okay, frustrating glitches.

That's fabulous mammy, that's brilliant news re the payout, you deserve the luck. Stash it away and it's a 'new life' deposit.

Waiting for an IP update wolfSmile

born, I'm okay with it. I could get myself quite upset but surely we spend our whole parenting lives giving them the means to be independent and functioning young adults? I'm choosing the look to the positive, too easy to do otherwise. He's quiet and needs the chance to cut some strings and be his own person. He's only going to be gone until December anyway! I'll miss him dreadfully naturally though. Not the food bill in fairness Grin

Jam I’m pretty impressed with it. Beef casserole from semi frozen in 1 hour and five mins start to finish! Made Yorkies to go with it and put the sauté function to the teat browning everything first and then thickening at the end.

QuitelovesStrictly · 24/09/2018 19:43

Thanks for the Fred Just Smile mammy thats brilliant news !!! Hurrah!

Justanothermile · 24/09/2018 19:44

Oh I'd never thought to thicken using the sauté function, what a fab idea!

Thanks for the new thread jam

Happy birthday em DS. I swear it was only yesterday you went quiet for a few hours and then he was here!

Angry about DH not yet moving stores cag. It's frustrating being in limbo like that

Urggh about the tax repayment wreck

I am also one who used to reward myself for going to work. To be fair I used to commute three hours a day and get up at 5.20am so felt rather sorry for myself. Nowadays 6.30am still seems early, but packed lunches and no shopping available at lunch time so I'm much improved.

Still not sure about my job. Tomorrow is going to be a busy one so not looking forward to it. My job should be a good one for the cv though so trying to persevere. I also might have to line manage staff again soon, which is in my pay grade but wasn't in my job description.

I am on the count down to pay day on Friday. My pay was originally going to be wrong but looks like it has been fixed

NSD

DD2 is currently refusing to go to bed Hmm

Lovemaltesers · 24/09/2018 19:53

Good news on the refund mammy

Lovemaltesers · 24/09/2018 19:53

Where's laska gone?

mammynowanauntyIRL · 24/09/2018 19:56

What's missing from the first picture?
Slow cooked chicken & somebody threw out the liquid so no lovely gravy AngryAngry

Second pic yorkie with lemon curd & breyers mint choc chip ice cream

Excellent wolf delighted to hear it.

I was in two minds about buying a hand blender or soup maker or instant pot but the more expensive items would have to wait until I'm in a different house. The cheaper hand blenders don't have a strong motor & more expensive ones do, well Lidl have a 600 watt one for €19.99 on special buys on thurs so that fixes my dilema (sp) for now.

Girlie your poor dd Sad

Lonely he hasn't once asked about refund in the two months since we came home from the holiday where as I've chased it every week
Your dinner looks fabulous

Happy Birthday beautiful jersey boy Star

Thistime that post about Christmas made me ponder too, wonder what'll happen with our Christmas's going forward? Hmm I think I could tolerate h just so I don't have to spend Christmas Day without dc.

Tbf Alvin was a BIg spender in his youngers years .I remember him talking about getting his 25 ish CCs out and chopping them all up . His thaaang was Pay yourself (savings )first and then you can buy things if there is cash leftover rather than splurge first save second. I bloody love that man -I wish would do more shows .

WreckTangled · 24/09/2018 20:20

The annoying fb woman was meant to come about 8 to get the table. She's still not here. She's not going to turn up is she? I want to put my pjs on!

northender · 24/09/2018 20:34

Jam thanks for the new thread. Great title. Return key not working here either! Christmas, the cake is brilliant and the job sounds promising too. Em happy birthday to your ds, great cake too! Wreck that's crap about the tax. Mammy fab about the refund. Lonely that tea looks delish. Hugs to all those suffering with mental health problems at the moment.

northender · 24/09/2018 20:40

Poor ds' eyes are in an awful mess again. Had him back at the GP today & he's now on 1 month of ABs and has AB eye ointment. We saw the nurse practitioner today but have a GP appointment on Friday to see if we can get any further with finding out what's causing all his problems. I got up at 5 to get on with my assignment which I managed to submit half an hour before the deadline. It's only a practice, but it'll be marked properly so the feedback will be useful. Got a replacement sandwich toaster at Lakeland yesterday, their customer service is amazing. I have to say I am being drawn in to the idea of the Insta Pot now though. Is the Pressure King one similar does anyone know? Definitely tempted though, will watch for reports from jam and wolf.....

ememem84 · 24/09/2018 20:48

I think he enjoyed the cake....oh i cant do return either. Bugger. Anyway. Lovely day. Dsis made me cry as she made me a photo book of 365 pictures of ds. From the first scan picture to last week. So nice.

That’s great Jam - the best way to be. My oldest ds is still only 15 I am hoping that the next couple of years make me feel more confident about it all. He has matured a lot recently but needs a kick up the bum with regards to studying.
