Girliefriendlikesflowers · 23/08/2018 17:09

Oh and today's spends £3 tesco meal deal and £1.20 milk.

Wolfcub · 23/08/2018 17:27

I agree Betty’s is the place although I know some on mn loathe it but do check if they are doing the lady Betty afternoon tea which you have to book in the imperial room. It’s spendy but absolutely lovely treat for a special occasion

north well done to ds.

Take have a great holiday

Off to catch up may be back with more later

Wolfcub · 23/08/2018 17:36

Crikey what a busy day you've all had.

north I'm so pleased for your boy. After such a shitty year to do better than he thought, you can't ask for more. What a Star (in a grown up cool teenagery way). Clean slate away from those twats at his old school I hope they all failed

unescorted if you're reading I hope your dd got the results she wanted, bet she graded brilliantly in art!

I remember you too tinky/blue I used to be knitting and am a bit of wallpaper here now.

A nsd from me so far, just going to conjure up some beans on toast for tea. So glam here.

Dp has not apologised, but he is having a shit time atm. My family issue is with my sister...but I've talked it over with my mum, last time this sort of thing happened everyone fell out. Thats not happening again.

Justanothermile · 23/08/2018 17:44

Hi north. Good news about your DS and college. Yes, Betty's would be super. If you are driving, then Rudding Park hotel might be an option for afternoon tea and that's amazing, but not if you want to stay central. Also, Betty's at Harlow Carr will be far less busy than the town centre one and the gardens are stunning.

I was wondering where you were fluffster. He needs meningitis ACWY, which he's booked in for next week.

Welcome back tinky, I remember you as Blue!! Good to see you.

In exciting conversation, I do think spending a bit more on the essential kitchen gadgets like graters, zesters, garlic press etc is money well spent. Fuck I sound like a boring twat saying that though.

Just been at the track with DD, she's beating my sorry ass at the shorter stuff already. She's out.....Grin

Wolfcub · 23/08/2018 17:47

Just makes a good point if you are driving Fodder do a good but monumentally filling afternoon tea. It’s at the show ground so you’d probably have to be on your way home to make it work. I think they serve from three

ememem84 · 23/08/2018 18:04

Had a sort out with Dm. She has stockpiled things also. Free make up bags being one. I’ve nabbed a couple for my nail polish and other incidentals (hair grips...) these are ones she was given Molton brown freebies in. So see through.

I’ve also got an emergency bag in my handbag. Toothbrush and paste, paracetamol, gaviscon, rehydration stuff, lighter, hair grips, hair bands, perfume atomiser, safety pins, needle and thread.

ScandiLady · 23/08/2018 18:11

em your dh is lucky on his birthday Wine last yeah dh got a keyhanger with the girls and a lay in Grin Blush
Nsd today. Dh is confident about the chat on Monday and also have another one set up on Wednesday so he believes he's back in work before September start

Wrongwayup · 23/08/2018 18:48

Em - have sorted clothes. nowhere near as ruthless as you. But 5 bags to go to charity shop tomorrow. £49 at garden center on some autumn plants - but how can it be autumn?

ememem84 · 23/08/2018 19:08

I love that it’s autumn. Or coming into autumn. Boots. I love boots. And hats.

Dh is a lucky. Gym clothes, new “house pants” aka pyjamas, gym bag, popcorn machine, sliders, and some chocolate.

Good job wrong it’s a tough thing to do. I find I get so attached to clothes. I’ve kept (for example) “naughty skirt” (short (obscenely short) red pleated kilt) Me and naughty skirt had some fun times when I was at uni.... skirt is in a box. Can’t bear to throw it away

Laska5772 · 23/08/2018 19:44

Em i have one o those also , A very short red pleated kilt also ! It hasnt fitted me in a hundred years, but what is so odd about it is that its an 'old' size 12 from Debenhams! (bought in 1992) and I often wear size 10 skirts now.. it shows how sizes have changed ..
I kept it because I was wearing it the day I met DH i cant think what he saw in me Grin

wolf that tea makes me think i should venture 'Up Norf' again sometime soon ..

WreckTangled · 23/08/2018 19:47

Tinky I remember you from before pleased you've stayed in the same field.

Well done to your ds north.

Spendy day
£40 train (mil said she would pay but I think she forgot...)
£35 Lego shop
£28 primark
Whatever the tube will be
£6 something m&s food. Thinks that's it.

Laska5772 · 23/08/2018 19:48

Wrong Thats what I did also ...Also 5 bags gone to charity shops this week.. It feels so much better and now I only have clothes that fit and i love.. I have lost 2 stone so far this year so its been a good excuse to get rid ,,( and buy more!).

I still have the shoes to tackle though Hmm just call me Imelda

ScandiLady · 23/08/2018 19:58

Your decluttering mode is influenced me to also go trough stuff again, although I do it often, there is just so much stuff from the girls. Filled 2 bags and will take some hours off in the weekend to get some more atuff chucked in. I already dropped off the småfolk stuff from my friend and already saw it on the charity sites fb page.

Bornlazy · 23/08/2018 20:15

Scandi fingers crossed that your dh gets a job soon.

Lonely inspired by you we had beans on toast for dinner Grin

Spends today £30.40 in Aldi and £15 in Morrisons, used a £5 voucher and got rid of some shrapnel at the self scan checkout.

Going to tidy now until Big Brother comes on - don't always watch it but quite liking this series Blush

TakeItSlow · 23/08/2018 20:19

Welcome back Tinky. I remember you too. I think I was maybe Ipsos then. I remember you talking about how intense it was doing your training. It's lovely that you've found a way of getting hours that you can manage and enjoy.

I'm pottering along here. I got a science grant to build a mystery science thing and have just submitted my 6 month report, which is quite exciting. Ds is now very very tall, a computer fiend.

We have arrived on our holiday and had a mooch around the town. It's very weird how being in a different place soothes the tired brain.

Justanothermile · 23/08/2018 20:20

em, this is the roast fennel dish that you liked the sound of in my menu plan. It was lovely.

The Friendly Frugaleers- Autumn is on its way !
Wolfcub · 23/08/2018 20:27

Just that looks lovely do you have a link to the recipe ? I love fennel

SnugglySnerd · 23/08/2018 20:35

Yay North! I'm really busy but just checked in to see how he did. So pleased he did well.

Welcome back Tinky. I remember you.

Have got in the zone now for doing some work so am busy lesson-planning. The enthusiasm won't last! Treat today, had lunch on my own in Costa and people-watched! Also did a bit of Xmas shopping! Only £9 on stocking fillers but it's a bit more chipped away.

ememem84 · 23/08/2018 20:56

just yummmmm

Dm made roast chicken in the slow cooker. With stuffing balls, veg and roasties.

lifelongfrugaleer · 23/08/2018 21:09

No I was babsmam.

Will catch up in a bit

TinkysWinky · 23/08/2018 21:28

Lovely to see so many old names floating about, looking forward to catching up and meeting all the newer ones too :) will have to get used to all the name changes! thank you for all the well wishes, I feel I have struck a balance that suits me for now and although missing the security of employment the freedom to pick and choose and do as few shifts as possible to meet our financial needs is liberating Lol! Just need to mind the pennies now to keep it that way!

Well done to all getting results today I remember mine like it was yesterday (not 18 years ago!)

I have inadvertently painted the utility room today. We've just had a new boiler in (2k, groan) and the new controls needed painting round... I had the paint in the garage and was planning to just do that an touch up a few marks but got carried away Blush. Looks tidy now though and at least the paint was free Lol!

Fluffycloudland77 · 23/08/2018 21:44

Good grief, so many nc.

TinkysWinky · 23/08/2018 21:54

Fluffy - I see you use cashback apps, I do too - for anyone that's interested in cashback apps I've just seen on greenjinn there's money off 4x cirio chopped tomatoes and there's money back on them on shopmium too - they're £2 at the mo in Tescos so it makes them free (or even make 50p ish?)
