Well done to your ds north. He's done really really well after such a hard year.

lifelongfrugaleer · 23/08/2018 11:58

Well done DS North.

ememem84 · 23/08/2018 12:08

Yay we’ll done north to ds.

I’ve picked up my boots order. I have enough makeup remover/cleanser now to last a lifetime.

And popped into M&S to buy dh a birthday cake. Also picked up bacon and sausages for breakfast tomorrow. He’s seen a recipe for full English shakshuka. So I’m going to give that a whirl.

Thatsnotmybookworm · 23/08/2018 12:14

Well done to your DS @northender.

Spends:
£12 Kindle books
£30 cleaner

ScandiLady · 23/08/2018 12:26

Well done to north ds...

Well no not exactly planned. I knew he was unhappy in his job, but he only started 1st of august so kinda thought he'd give it a better go. But yeah he resigned from days date. So now we need to see what we do... And spend less clearly

ChristmasSeacow · 23/08/2018 13:13

Isn’t he a chef Scandi? Chefs here find work quite easily as there’s often quite high turnover...mine you, that’s often for a reason! I hope he find somewhere he likes soon. Can he join a temping agency and do interim work while he looks? To keep the money coming in?

Yay NOrthDS! It must be hard to know you could do bettter but that’s a great outcome in the circumstances. As long as he can get into the next thing he wants the precise grades don’t make any difference in adult life, imo.

TinkysWinky · 23/08/2018 13:23

Hi guys

Mind if I rejoin? In a past life I was on here as 'blueteapot' if anyone remembers me?

Daughter is now 3.5 and off to nursery school now in a few weeks, my son is 5 and off into primary 2. Amazing how time flies!

I am now working v part time freelance (2 days a week but spread over mornings mostly) and we have had a v expensive time over the past year, looking to reign it in now and try and build savings back up(!)

Off today so currently at the pool with the kids, DH has gone in with them, £1.90 for all 3 of them which is fab!

Off for a catch up

Tinky x

Laska5772 · 23/08/2018 13:36

Well done north DS , He will much prefer college to school I reckon..

Scandi I hope he finds something else soon. I cant remember if you work also ?

ScandiLady · 23/08/2018 13:40

sea yeah a chef. He has a talk with his old manager Monday where we left for this job be cause this one paid more. But his old boss apparently wants him back and pay more, lets hope for that...
Wawes to tinky

lifelongfrugaleer · 23/08/2018 13:42

ScandiLady · 23/08/2018 13:45

Thatsnotmybookworm · 23/08/2018 14:39

Spends today
£3 cards
£80 Blush on a new top, specifically for an event I have coming up, but it will go with two pairs of trousers and a skirt that I have so that should be outfits covered for most occasions between now and the end of the year, including Christmas.

Cagliostro · 23/08/2018 14:39

Hi tinky! Welcome back, I may have still been fuzzpig when you were on here before.

I am having a very unproductive day. Other than opening an eBay case as they haven’t sent my item (the game Santorini wolf :o) since I bought it on 13/8 Hmm

Unpacking is still happening slowly though TBF. It’s lovely seeing the house take shape (and grow before our eyes as the piles of boxes get smaller and smaller).

Laska5772 · 23/08/2018 14:50

Hi again Tinky I remember you , good to have you back . Well done on graduating!

Thatsnotmybookworm · 23/08/2018 15:03

Welcome back to @Tinky from a very new poster.

Updated spends:
£75 on DH's birthday present; forgot to go through cashback so frugal fail there.

ememem84 · 23/08/2018 15:25

DHs presents wrapped. And egg sandwiches for lunch. God id forgotten how good an egg mayo sandwich is. Mmm.

Dm has done all of our ironing.

lifelongfrugaleer · 23/08/2018 15:52

Excellent news on your qualification tinky.

northender · 23/08/2018 16:09

Thank you all. Ds has now enrolled at college. He is going to do Maths, Geography & Business (a last minute change from Economics). He's so happy, it's like a weight has lifted Smile
Tinky welcome back. Well done on your qualification & glad you haven't given up on your career.
DH & I went into the Range while D's was enrolling & spent £40 on various house bits, all needed.
It's dm's birthday today (she's 79) so we are going out for tea tonight. Just where would you recommend in Harrogate for an afternoon tea or similar? I am going to take mum to the quilt festival next weekend for her birthday & it'll be good to have tea while we are there.
And more good news today, it looks like there is going to be funding for me to increase my hours to 4 days a week from 3 permanently. The dc are old enough now & the money will be well received.

Fluffycloudland77 · 23/08/2018 16:50

Tinky Welcome back and congratulations. I used to do locum work.

I am so lost on namechanges I though Life was Blueteapot.

Jam Does he need any vaccinations? he might be due a tetanus booster or diptheria. I had my last ones at 28/29. He's got time to spread them out a bit if he is due.

Excellent news Northender on all fronts.

Yesterday was £5 flax oil, £3 proper free range eggs and fruit at the farm shop. It was a posh farm shop so I grabbed and ran before they realised I wasn't their normal customer. £4 for salad dressing!. £2in sains on baked beans but they will be free on checkoutsmart.

£10 sains but £2.50 was a zester to tide me over until I get a microplane. I've kept the receipt incase it stops working in the future Wink

£7 homebargains. 400 teabags should last us a while now I don't drink tea, Tupperware for batch cooking and foil. Fucked up on the foil, wilko is half the price. Oh well.

Laska5772 · 23/08/2018 16:50

Isn't Bettys the place to go In Harrogate?. I have never been though. (last was up that way about 26 years ago!!) but sure I have heard that its the ultimate ..

Laska5772 · 23/08/2018 16:51

Bettys Harrogate

Flappyjack · 23/08/2018 17:05

Well done North's DS.

Scandi fingers crossed for DH's job.

em I feel guilty for buying DH a costa card and a shirt for his birthday. How lucky is your DH. #spoilt.

Take have a nice holiday.

Hello Tinky

Been to the woods today and had such a lovely time and picked 700g of blackberries. Irrelevant question: can you forest bathe in the woods? Is that still a thing? Anyhew, spends were:

£2 parking
£14.75 on sandwiches and cake (we took water and coffee with us.)
£ 3 in Lidl on the way home for essentials (bread and gin.)

northender · 23/08/2018 17:05

Laska yes Betty's is in Harrogate but I wonder if there are any smaller local options. Betty's seems to have got quite big now.

Girliefriendlikesflowers · 23/08/2018 17:06

Well done to your ds north that's brilliant news. I'm dreading the gcse years with dd, it's crazy how many exams they're expected to sit now.

Today has been tiring, work is very busy and my arm is playing up again and I'm feeling very fed up about it 😧 will need to go back to the dr I suppose.

Welcome back blue I remember you! I have a feeling you were pregnant with dd last time you were on the thread!
