em so basically dh kept up the pretence just the length of time your parents were around. He's been behaving like a right twat for some time now. No excuses for him that don't also apply to you...new parent (but didn't have to do the hard bit did he)...house move... so you really must not give him any leeway. He's simply stamping his feet like a toddler (and you don't need two of those).

Good day back at work, but totally forgot to get dd1 up to take her to my parents! Oops. Dp had to deal with the uber grumpy teen. Apparently it was hard not to laugh.

After doing £62 extra work over the weekend (over my weekly extra goal) it turns out two Beatrix Potter orders are way late, so I will be doing most of those this week. I need the money, but all I'm doing is working at work and working at home!

Phew wreck they sorted that quite quickly for the tax credits machine. I imagine it to be one of those ancient calculating machines they had in ww2 at Bletchly Park, that clunks and whirs and decides how much tax credits we all deserve.

Oddly, my new award for working full time is £50 less every 4 weeks than I got before. And they put in £360 extra before changing the award. Dp has lost his working tax credits though.

Pm you the code wreck

Ds's nails courtesy of his sister Grin

€28 on priority boarding for flights in November thanks to Michael O'Leary's new rules Angry if left it to on the day it would be €100 for our bags for myself & my cuz. Ruined my NSD!

Owe €90 to my friend at work who bulk bought my vitamins for me yesterday.

It was hard to be at work here too. I need more hours in the day. Or a cloning machine. I told my boss that I was going to change my voice mail to "fuck off and read the effing prospectus you numbnut". He suggested that I that log off my phone. Somehow doesn't have the same visceral satisfaction. He is such a killjoy.

Em offer to take him to nursery too.

Girlie as an x-ray veteran (arms, teeth, ribs, ankle, more teeth, head and more sodding teeth) they don't hurt, no flashing light and no loud noises. Slightly disconcerting when everyone leaves the room but they are back before the thought goes anywhere....think close door and re enter having immediately forgotten something type of time frame.

Speaking of thoughts take that is a beautiful way to express the moment of joy when you share a moment with your children.

Sea have I managed to miss the picture of your extensive wool stash?

I only very rarely take photos #shakeyhandslikeearlyonsetdementia. The subject is never more than a smear on the screen. Fortunately dh is v. good at doing the family album.

TakeItSlow · 28/08/2018 19:15

Thanks unescorted. Smile

My favourite bit of the holiday was taking ds at that crack of dawn to light candles for various friends of ours who are in sticky situations. I had a list written down and we got ten candles out of the box. For a couple of people I said to ds "Okay this one is important, do you think you could tell God about it because he will hear you better."

and ds with really fabulous efficiency bowed his head, put his hands together and shut his eyes, paused, resurfaced and said "Okay that's done, who's next?"

Fantastic.

thistimenextsummer · 28/08/2018 19:39

Back from holiday here now too and back to proper adulting (tip run, batch cooking, school shoe shopping - £18)
Take I always dread the just back from holiday critical look at the house - either something going wrong whilst away or everything feeling a bit like it needs an overhaul! Thankfully the only thing that greeted us this year was a large snail trail in the sitting room.

TakeItSlow · 28/08/2018 19:50

summer yes that's exactly how I find it. Holiday houses are so perfect. It's hard to come back to normality and not just think Oh Dear.

QuitelovesStrictly · 28/08/2018 20:00

I decided to take the bits I liked from a holiday cottage we stayed in when we were in France and recreate it at home.
Hence making my room a sanctuary of sorts.
Lovely furniture and matching gorgeous bedding, total dejunk so nothing and I mean nothing is lying around .Scented candles which I light every night .My favorite books.
I love it
No matter what the rest of the house is like ,my room is heavenly and it really has helped me feel less anxious .Smile

thistimenextsummer · 28/08/2018 20:27

Quite that's a lovely idea! I've been thinking of ways to feel a little 'holiday' during normal life and having a sanctuary that doesn't end up the dumping ground is a good place to start!

TakeItSlow · 28/08/2018 20:30

I would like more windows. Smile

mammynowanauntyIRL · 28/08/2018 20:46

I don't think holiday homes are perfect they're just clutter free, and easy to keep on top of. However my db & sil's house has managed to stay like this for 4 years & even the arrival of my niece hasn't changed that! They both work at keeping it clutter free apparently effortlessly, I love visiting their house Grin

QuitelovesStrictly · 28/08/2018 20:48

It helps that due to snoring and sleep disturbance -really extreme ,DH sleeps in a different room.
So no man mess/smells Hmm
Bliss .
It wasnt really very expensive either.
When I watch those house programmes, the awfulness of some of the bedrooms astounds me !

ememem84 · 28/08/2018 21:03

Dh is not getting any slack. No way. Told him he needs to pull his finger out learn to multi task or things will not get done.

Received my £42 from music magpie. Yippee.

Watching the bake off. Yay!!!!

Then I need to make sandwich for lunch tomorrow and take laundry out and get another load ready.

mammynowanauntyIRL · 28/08/2018 21:06

What was the reaction em ?

Wolfcub · 28/08/2018 21:39

Watching bake off on catch up.

When I dropped ds off H had sent me a present. I want to run over it with the car, repeatedly.

Nice dinner with friend. £18. Slow service meant no pudding.

Ds asked lots of difficult questions on the way home resulting in tears down the motorway (his) and fervent praying for Scotty to beam me up (me)

ememem84 · 28/08/2018 21:43

A bit mumbly mammy. I’be told him what I expect. So we’ll see if it has any effect. There were no or else’s or anything. Just this is what I need you to do.

He’s on his own with ds on Friday sowell see how he gets on.

Laundry done and another load in ready for tomorrow. Dishwasher on (seriously how have we coped without one...?!). Outfit hung outside the wardrobe ready. Bag packed. Just need to make a sandwich and we’re there.

lifelongfrugaleer · 28/08/2018 22:13

No bake off spoilers please. Out at scouts do missed it.

Why do the tricky questions always happen in the car. Bless him and you wolf.

£84 school shoes, £94 mountain warehouse, £3.30 fake tan and bubble gum, £5 & £3 mag subscriptions, £9.84 Sainsbury's. The Lego cards are back but I don't think I'm bothering this year, happy to collect and post though.

Unescorted · 28/08/2018 22:19

Bake Off is the only whole family viewing in this house. We have decided that DD needs to learn to cook so that the family honour is upheld. My design ability would see me leave first round. Unfortunately DD can burn boiling water. We have a few series to go.

Girliefriendlikesflowers · 28/08/2018 22:26

X ray was fine, very quick but have to wait a week for the result. I know it's funny I've never had one before, I have had dental ones but never broken a bone or anything.

Have ordered a morrisons shop online £48, so much more expensive than aldi but I'm not up to going shopping yet. Also ordered underwear from M&S, £54 but imagine a fair bit (for dd) will go back. Have found some shoes online for dd, my mum ordered them and I've forgotten how much they were!! Seriously hoping they will be okay otherwise will be doing some last minute panic buying.

We're going back home tomos, am missing my own bed and need to get dd back into some sort of routine before going back to school.

TakeItSlow · 28/08/2018 23:35

That's good that the x-ray was quick Girlie. Fingers crossed for the result, and double fingers crossed that the problem fixes itself before the result comes.

life thanks for the word about the lego cards. We missed that last year, so must have a go this year. There is no sainsbury near us, so it takes a bit of thought, but we'll work on it.

I'm back to the clarinetting now. It's been a long time, what with the silly virus and then the holiday. It was very nice to just get on with it today and for some reason the instrument just behaved itself and played very nicely. I'm going to do that again tomorrow.

lifelongfrugaleer · 28/08/2018 23:59

The album's are £2.50 take. I remember they went very quickly last year. I can pick one up for you if you want

lifelongfrugaleer · 29/08/2018 00:00

Can't sleep. Don't think I wound down properly after first day back, shitty work news and rushing about.
Walked home from work and my hip is hurting too.

Sorry your dh is being a dick em.

thistimenextsummer · 29/08/2018 00:13

Me neither Sad I've been in bed since 9pm as I was so shattered. Dh was out and I always find it hard to settle - not that I mind just that I feel doubly responsible for locking up / listening out etc. He's just come in so will try another little read etc before hopefully drifting off. Might need to eat something too as I'm starving now (I'm sure my body thinks it's breakfast time!)

ChristmasSeacow · 29/08/2018 00:30

This and Take I too have had the home dread this time. For the first time really, as my house used to be nicer. But baby number 2 has tipped me over the edge ‘stuff’-wise and I also have a really intractable maintenance problem (a leak) that I can’t seem to get definitively fixed, in spite of having spent a great deal of money over the years. Grrr.

Cars do seem to bring out the tricky conversations Wolf, hope you are both feeling okay now.

Take i also loved your description of being in the moment. I really need to use my phone less around the children, and DH does too.

I had a busy morning and then stallled this afternoon when dd had an epic nap. I fell out with DH over the clearing up. The deal is that if I cook (always!) then he washes up. This morning I got up with dd and literally all the washing up from the previous day’s lunch (Not even dinner) was piled up ‘soaking’. As well as the stuff from the dcs’ dinner yesterday. Thankfully I had cleaned the dining table and floor and surfaces yesterday (just leaving the washing up) but I was fairly pissed off. I’d left him ‘doing The washing up’ when I went to bed but honestly can’t imagine what he did at all. He does this a lot so we had words. It is miserable waking up to a huge flipping pile of mess.

Aaaand breathe. Anyway, a bit of knitting time then returned loads of stuff to Tu, as well as a couple of dresses to M&S (christening panic buys but then I wore one I already had). Then I went to Waitrose because I had some £14 off £70 vouchers. Worth it if you choose well, I just nudged over £70 to max out the value. Fruit and veg was really expensive so I only bought the urgent fresh stuff, otherwise got store cupboard stuff, freezer bits and 12 pints of milk. No luxuries. I still need nappies, loo roll and cleaning bits and wine so might go back and use another voucher before it expires.

Unrecorted I didn’t post my stash! I’ll post a pic of what I’m currently using tomorrow.

LonelyOversharer · 29/08/2018 00:45

There's a lot of us up tonight.

I've just finished work for tonight. Musing that I'm painting more at home now than when I was just painting at home. But this is an urgently late order... not sure why I feel responsible to do it though Hmm But, money.
