She is encouraged to go out everyday , even for just a drive in car , to get hair done at hairdresser every week, have lunch out etc etc . but now she doesnt even really want to do that any more .. Sad sad. I cant get to see her much as I would like she is on mainland , but trying to get over more. She doesn't really want to talk n much on phone now either.. its like she has given up ..

My MIL who is same age , is still flying and planning cruise..

WreckTangled · 25/03/2018 13:40

Yes Pygmy goats!

Laska5772 · 25/03/2018 13:42

em a lump like that really does help though with reducing mortgage interest .. That what we did . all DH bonuses went in and we overpaid mortgage every month.. .

Loveabaconsandwich · 25/03/2018 13:49

Got my call back. Nurse says what I have seems to be doing the rounds and generally doctors won’t prescribe antibiotics until 7 days. But to see the doc this week if it doesn’t clear due to the fever. But she suggested some codeine based painkillers which should then keep the throat pain edge off a bit longer as the paracetamol/ibuprofen just aren’t cutting it.

I can get up now. But bed is where I feel the best.

CremeEggThief · 25/03/2018 13:56

Stay in bed, Love.Brew

Love that dress, Em.

I've only been up since 1 pm!Blush That's late, even for lazy old me! Just had croissants with roulé cheese and coffee. Going to prep veg for Sunday roast, wash up, shower and maybe go for a walk. It's spring here now, but it looks as if the Beast from the East is on its way back by mid-week. Some people are even talking about snow on Easter Sunday!Shock

Aiming for another NSD.

Wolfcub · 25/03/2018 14:27

Somehow in all the palaver this morning my favourite ornament has been broken. Not sure if it’s ds and he’s lying about it (not uncommon). Dh being careless or me when I was in a temper at having to redo all my cleaning because of the mud tramped through the house. I am now very Sad and Angry

WreckTangled · 25/03/2018 14:30

Oh no wolf Sad

I've got gammon in the slow cooker but I forgot that the fat doesn't go crispy and it looks gross. I don't eat the fat anyway though so will just slice it off once cooked. Going to bake some cakes now.

mammymammyIRL · 25/03/2018 14:43

You could crisp it off in hot oven for 15 mins if anyone does eat it wreck
I made two dinners yesterday so don't plan to cook today, I did defrost diced chicken though too so will see. I'm tired now but also fancy a walk so will see, maybe short walk followed by nap Smile

Wolf that's pants no matter who broke it. Two mugs got broken here during the week, one story from cleaner sounds plausible, other story from au pair blames cleaner. I'm not bothered about the mugs but I would prefer the truth. I tend to only find out au pair has broken something if it's missing or I find the remnants Hmm luckily she's not as clumsy as me Grin

Love that's not much good to you Sad

Laska is she just tired of life now?

Em your outfit is lovely, can't wait to slim down, weight started moving again two weeks ago, small but in the right direction.
Good place to vent here rather than a row over nothing at home!

Option a sounds brilliant if ye don't sell this week

Loveabaconsandwich · 25/03/2018 15:13

Urrrgh. DP came back with some co-codamyl but the small print says not to take with an under active thyroid. Which I have and is currently not at a stable dose. The same will go for the ibuprofen based codeine version too.

And, I just dropped apple and raspberry juice all over the bed, and bedside cabinet and cream carpet. Rubbish. I never did like the carpet though as totally impractical. When I feel better you must tell me how to try and clean it!

DP has gone off to hide after delivering me another ice lolly

Sorry I am so very whiny!

Laska5772 · 25/03/2018 15:15

mammy I am beginning to think so now, she seems to have shrunk down and just sits in her corner or dozes .. its v sad, but there's no other way of describing it . But when she is 'up' she is very lively still.. but I think she is just losing interest in things.,and in lots of ways my DSF doesnt help , he 'chivvies' her up and tries to get her to be the woman she was, but she is tired .. then she bites back at him and they argue. Sad..

DSF has smothered her (with what he thinks is kindness) for years quite honestly . she has everything she wants but he has never really let her be herself.. not actually cruelty but just far too much 'cotton wool'. ( hes scared that's what it is) My Db (52) has never moved out. Its like they are all stuck there together .. Its been gradually going downhill with the three of then becoming more and more co dependent for some years and I hate to see it quite honestly .. I suppose if i am honest I also have stepped back from it all a fair bit .. not good I know but I just cant do anything and hate to see it all Hmm

The one thing it has done is make DH and I more determined to do as much as we can traveling and stuff , and to keep on being 'independent' as well as together , also to move somewhere more suitable early on.. ( DPs still live in the two storey house i grew up in , she does have a stair lift but only in the last year had she really needed one ),

Laska5772 · 25/03/2018 15:20

Arrgh love that's so rubbish.. ... You whine away ... FlowersBrew

Loveabaconsandwich · 25/03/2018 15:40

So sad to hear you mum is giving up laska

But yes, not being co-dependent is something we should all keep in mind at whatever stage in life.

In my new job laska I keep seeing people living your retirement dream already. The not so glam side- normally it is when they have driven such vehicle into a tree! I now get why you have your dream though as some of them are very nice inside.

em I love it when we make capital payments against the mortgage. Makes me feel all fuzzy and frugal. That’s a great chunk to pay off.

ememem84 · 25/03/2018 15:45

Well the argument happened. Dh is adamant that we’ll sell. Absolutely 100% confident. So he won’t help me clean or tidy or do a food shop today. He’s doing one for fil who comes back from a trip today but won’t get things for us as “we don’t need food as we’re moving”

I am convinced we won’t. And have thrown a strop and have started unpacking in a rage. #helpful

I wanted to steam clean the carpet where Dh spilled cream. But you have to start with a clean carpet. So go to hoover. Guess who’s taken the filter from the hoover and just washed it (Dh...!) and it needs to be completely dry to use. And we don’t have a spare. Sigh. So steam cleaning will have to wait until tomorrow.

It needs doing as my mopping up of chilled cream was obviously not as good as I thought and it smells. Ick.

Fluffycloudland77 · 25/03/2018 15:49

Ice cold water love, you’ll struggle at first but it stays colder than lollies & helps reduce the inflammation. The fever might help anyway because it’s harder for any pathogen to reproduce at high temperatures. Don’t be surprised if you feel something pop in there at some stage.

NSD & I’ve done two coats in the downstairs loo. Third coat Tuesday.

mammymammyIRL · 25/03/2018 16:13

Love I was prescribed Keral it's ibuprofen based, you gargle and swallow it, ask about it when 111 call you back. It did relieve the pain in my throat, combining ibuprofen and paracetamol didn't.

Em text him every day looking for the food you wanted to buy, he'll realise it would've been easier to do food shop.
H wanted pastry in food shop this week, it's 2.5 times price of Aldi's, I didn't get it, threw flour, butter and water in blender this morning €1.25 compared to €10+

Laska that's incredibly hard to watch, and probably your well intentioned advice wouldn't be taken up well because you're not here everyday what would you know Confused^^ and you know plenty cos you can see the wood for the trees so to speak.

ememem84 · 25/03/2018 16:20

mammy nah. I’ll just do the shop myself. I’ve called Dm. She is coming round tomorrow to help me clean/today/watch ds while I food shop.

Dh did say (before he headed out for a walk with ds) that he “didn’t think having a clean house mattered to me anyway as it’s always filthy and he cleans it anyway” (I said that once I go back to work I’m paying for a cleaner a couple of hours a week - apparently the saving money thing applies here...money well spent in my opinion but hey) he does not know when to stop poking the bear.

While he’s been gone I have cleaned the bathroom and have managed to accidentally bleach a towel. Luckily not one of my lovely grey white company towels.

I’ve filled another charity shop bag. Have unpacked two more boxes.

Tomorrow I will go to storage place and recover the cushions and bedding. And then may head to the second hand furniture place and see about a second dresser for ds’ room. If we don’t move it’ll be handy. If we do end up moving I can throw it in storage.

WreckTangled · 25/03/2018 16:34

Woah em what's wrong with him today?!

Dh worked all day yesterday (10 hours) and another 6.5 hours today but came home, tidied the sitting room, played with the dc, put some washing on and is now giving them a bath. He probably hasn't eaten all day either.

Fluffycloudland77 · 25/03/2018 16:40

Stress wreck. Don’t worry em they mellow in their 50’s. Sometimes.

mammymammyIRL · 25/03/2018 16:49

Em something has happened with MIL and he's not saying Confused

Loveabaconsandwich · 25/03/2018 17:14

Do you think your DH has missed his nap time em? He sounds more like the baby today than your DS. Sounds like he should just be ignored as he is wanting to fight.

I’m hoping some soft veg and some potatoes in gravy will go down through my throat. I am starving! Throat is feeling slightly better in the window of when the painkillers actually work

ememem84 · 25/03/2018 17:29

We’re ok now. He’s back we’re at dparents for dinner. Ds has a nice walk.

No idea what’s going on with him. But meh. Not reacting any more.

£16.57 amazon on two water bottles. One for me for work and one for dh.

SunnyLikeThursday · 25/03/2018 17:41

Love That's quite something if that's what's doing the rounds. Must be keeping the GPs busy. I hope you feel better soon. Thanks for telling us about it. Good to be forewarned.

We just went to ds's second cousin's christening. It was really fun. We went for a nice meal at a hotel afterwards and they were really good at accommodating our food intolerances. Made us feel just like we fitted right in, which was lovely.

QuiteCleanBandit · 25/03/2018 17:44

Good grief em has your DH got a deathwish?Confused
Ignore and deep breaths -moving/not moving is super stressful.
Can you talk to him without chucking things at his head
Nice dinner and a film ??
