Just set up my tax free childcare account. Really annoyed I didn't know about it before Blush I tend to think I'm quite glued up on these things but apparently not?? Now annoyed I've missed out on a couple of hundred pounds.

WreckTangled · 09/03/2018 20:10

Life dd is currently reading that. She hasn't seen the film yet.

ememem84 · 09/03/2018 20:14

laksa I do love JM. Although Lorraine kelly did a bit this morning about mother’s day gifts and the Aldi dupes were shown. Apparently they’re divine. I’m well jel of you guys and aldi.

Loveabaconsandwich · 09/03/2018 20:18

wreck your employer doesn’t offer salary sacrifice does it? I think you work for an employer which would? I think that could end up better than tax free childcare, depends on how much you need. You can find comparisons online. If you want to salary sacrifice you need to do it now as the scheme closes to new people start of April but you need to opt in before your payroll cut off which could be imminent

WreckTangled · 09/03/2018 20:21

Love I didn't think I could do that because I don't pay tax? Our trust have already stopped doing it though

Loveabaconsandwich · 09/03/2018 20:25

I think you are right wreck, only worth doing salary sacrifice if you earn over the tax free threshold. Forgot that!

Hudsonriver · 09/03/2018 20:44

Im a regular but dont really want this info under my usual name as potentially outing.
Re:Salary sacrifice
I have a car lease under SS via NHS -been sent an email saying the tax rules are changing and so is the way tax on this is collected .
Have been told this may have significant impact on my April pay .
Have made phonecalls to payroll and SS -noone can help or give me any info.Hmm
Really worried as single parent and almost every penny is accounted for .

Hudsonriver · 09/03/2018 20:46

Should say have had car lease since Oct 2016 -looked on HMRC today and it states those in the current scheme since april 2017 are pretected .
Got tax code today 939L

Hudsonriver · 09/03/2018 20:46

Fluffycloudland77 · 09/03/2018 20:50

I’d ring the tax office if ss/nhs can’t provide the info which is poor form.

Hudsonriver · 09/03/2018 20:53

Thanks -Fluffy
That was my last resort !

Fluffycloudland77 · 09/03/2018 20:58

Well yes, it’s never fun ringing the tax office but they should be able to clarify the situation.

needastrongone · 09/03/2018 20:59

fluffy do you mean the rugs? I've not returned any!! I love them and they are down in my house looking marvellous. I've checked both banks but need to check Sainsbury's c/card too, can't remember which card I used tbh.

Oh meadow, do you mind if I say that your parents seem to give you a lot of pressure to be 'successful' with the definition of that being achievements educationally etc. Your anxiety is not your fault my lovely. You must have felt awful if they gave you a hard time after the Oxford decision. Please ignore any insensitivity in my post, it's made with concern. Fingers crossed for your little guinea pig. And I'm sorry work is crap atm.

Thanks mammy for understanding re dd.

creme, the Quorn fishless fingers are nice aren't they? Surprisingly fishy iyswim? Smile

Bloody hell laska you are really getting a tough time re the inheritance saga (or not). Try to keep disassociating if you at all can.

love I think that's as good as a first week gets maybe? You are already seeing the physical benefits and mentally too. Fleeces are a must I truly now believeGrin

Enjoy the sleepover life

hudson definitely one for the HMRC to answer, generally our employees get through to them more quickly than you might think when they try. Good luck.

Hudsonriver · 09/03/2018 21:01

I gave up the last time I tried -no answer !

Fluffycloudland77 · 09/03/2018 21:02

No I meant staff you want to bugger off but don’t.

needastrongone · 09/03/2018 21:07

Only one fluffy, as you might imagine... sorry I totally got wrong end of the stick there.

QuiteCleanBandit · 09/03/2018 22:05

Ugh so tired
We are so chatty !
Quick skim read of today .
Thank you for mentioning Boden clearance frugal peeps.
I was in need of a dress for a day work event in a couple of weeks -£27 Smile plus a more casual dress for £28.
Came out of my monthly allotted spends.
Tbh was surprised by the clearance bit as in the past Boden was emptied by the online sales.
Maybe sign of the times ? Cant say Im overwhelmed by their stuff anymore
In fact Im not excited by anywhere -might make my own.
Remembered to go through the Nectar app😇 so points will be added plus I was sent a survey so 50 points for that .
I like JM Pomegranate Noir -gorgeous but sadly LBM gives me an instant thumping headache and nausea -which is annoying as I have a big bottle .Might give to DD and insist she cant wear it at home.
I also have Red Roses .
Shopping 79.94p this week Smile
Happy with that.
Meal plan
Sat Salmon Teriyaki Noodles/stirfry
Sun Pork loin roast veg apple pie
Mon Veg biryani
Tues Fajitas
Weds Beef stirfry/noodles
Thurs -shopping so ready meal
Swim this evening so nice and sleepy plus used their lovely hot shower .

CremeEggThief · 09/03/2018 22:37

Indeed they are, Need. I was so pleased when Quorn brought them back again, as they stopped doing them for a few years. And as they're so small, I don't even feel bad about eating 4 at a time! #greedy

Wigwigeconomist · 10/03/2018 06:56

Thanks for new thread cag

I have to say I think it really sad wreck that people seem to dislike aspiration, achievement or think we should know our place😞 had quite an argument with my dad last night about this when discussing options for my children in the future

Anyway lovely day at the beach yesterday, spent £15 because I didn't bring lunch

Today visiting family, swimming (prepaid) and an Aldi shop (hopefully we don't go crazy)

Have a good day all

lifelongfrugaleer · 10/03/2018 07:37

£48 in Aldi yesterday. A bag full in Morrison £20 something but I forget. That was just stuff for the weekend, will go back again Sunday.

ememem84 · 10/03/2018 07:56

Today I have riding (so £27) and then am going to see the consultant rheumatologist re my hand pain. My insurance has ok’d the appointment and any treatment and appointment came through quickly. If I ever don’t have insurance I’ll cry.

mammy if you’re going to continue watching dd ride you’ll need sheepskin insoles and hand warmers. And a flask of coffee.... I ride but have insanely cold feet all the time. And wear proper lovely boots.

“My” stables is super cold but in the summer it great - proper sun trap.

Wolfcub · 10/03/2018 08:04

My Boden clearance dress is going back, awful. Going to go to m &co later as I have a £5 voucher and they sometimes have nice skirts.
Taking ds to volunteering shortly, not a great nights sleep as a bit feverish so I’d prefer to stay in bed. Just dropped the hair dry on my shoulder as well ouch!

Need to pick up engagement ring from the jeweller who has been repairing it, I hope they have done a good job I’m a bit nervous as it’s an unusual setting. That’ll be at least £75

Have a good frugal day people.

Hudson if you have the new tax code I think there’s an online calculator that tells you what tax and ni is if your know your gross pay

Wrongwayup · 10/03/2018 08:08

Hudson. You are already paying income tax on the benefit figure, the salary sacrifice saves you National insurance as on car benefits only the employer pays. For cars you are protected until tax year 21/22 as long as no variation has been made to the arrangements since April 17. from 21/22 low emission cars will still be exempt. hope this helps and bet you can all now guess what I do for a living

mammymammyIRL · 10/03/2018 08:11

Em I don't drink hot drinks!!! I have my hiking boots which are warm so will wear them next time. I was wearing thermal vest, jumper, gilet and warm jacket but only black work trousers.

€7.95 on chips & chicken for dd & a fillet burger for me. Ds was sleeping, I didn't purposely not feed him Smile
Today €40 on animal food
? On lunch
And ? On something to take to my friends.
I was gifted wine for Christmas during the week, I can regift that to my other friend.

I was going to do an inaugural park run this morning but I'm not feeling too hot this morning, will decide after breakfast.
