sunny yes dh will have to live without seeing me in a R&P bra and knickers set. They do look nice.

Fluffycloudland77 · 24/03/2018 08:31

Unescorted I hope their swift with the appointment date.

lifelongfrugaleer · 24/03/2018 08:42

Sunny do you mean as in it makes fuck all difference or it's so comfy you can't feel it. If it's the former you are in the wrong size.

In a chubby size 10 to 12 and wear a 32 back but I think I need to go to a 30 as it's on the tightest fastening as I've lost weight.

Not sure if that helps but it might give you a visual

Unescorted · 24/03/2018 08:46

OMG fluffy I have measured according to both the M&S "old school" method and the method in your link. Either a 32 D or 32E respectively. Both very different to the 34 B I have been using. You have cheered me up with that post.

SunnyLikeThursday · 24/03/2018 08:50

Life yesterday I thought it was really comfy, but today I think it's the other. No clue really. I find changing bras really disconcerting since having ds. Definitely tmi.

ALittleAubergine · 24/03/2018 08:52

Hi all, joining in for good advice hopefully. We're currently in a situation where our income is very precarious and saving is nearly impossible. Hoping that will change soon!

Wolfcub · 24/03/2018 08:57

Welcome Aubergine.

Unescorted keeping my fingers crossed on theJob front and the speedy specialist appt front too

SunnyLikeThursday · 24/03/2018 09:00

Welcome aubergine. Great idea to join. Have you watched the YNAB tutorials? They're very helpful.

Unescorted · 24/03/2018 09:01

Aubergine welcome. It is scary to be in that position but this thread (and it's predecessors) are a mine of useful info on here. Our life has become richer by being more frugal. My aim in life is to enjoy it more for less.

LonelyOversharer · 24/03/2018 09:02

The band size is easy, just measure right up under your bust. For me I'm 31" so wear a 32 tight instead of a 30, which leave huge welts. Dd1 the same. I can only recommend Debenhams for fitting if you're on a budget, the ladies in ours are so nice.

Hope you had a better night love it does sound like you need anti biotics. Ooh any good round you? Get dh to write down your paracetamol amounts and times. The last time I was delirious I took too many, had an almighty panic, and a trip to a+e (levels ok, but they tested me as soon as I stepped through the door).

We have a sunny day, so I will be in the garden today. unescorted that's super value for raspberry canes and plugs. Was that a local garden center or online?
I have only started things in pots so far, the ground is far too wet/cloggy/frozen to attempt anything else yet.

Thanks for teeth info em I'll tell dd1, she was looking a bit sceptical about it - but is loving her neat straight teeth! We have until July when the braces come off. Then dd2 should get to the top of the nhs list by christmas (50/50 on if she'll be funded, 0.5mm in it on her prominent front tooth).

ememem84 · 24/03/2018 09:04

Update re reuseable sanitary pads. I quite like them. They rock a lot of boxes : eco friendly, comfy, they actually work (so far so good no leaks) and more frugal in the long run. I may be a convert.

ememem84 · 24/03/2018 09:05

We need milk today. So am off to coop in a bit. We have been collecting stickers to get free (or almost free) Pyrex dishes. Spend £10 and get one sticker. We have 40 stickers which entitles us to 2 dishes. Deal runs out tomorrow so will see what they have left. But worst case I’ll spend £2.99 for a 4l dish which retails at 12.99.

Unescorted · 24/03/2018 09:06

lonely I'm not the gardener...wish I was.

Laska5772 · 24/03/2018 09:08

Love yes ring 111 but can you get doctor to you?

bit late to the bra discussion but have you looked at bra intervention thread? i only went up a cup size from D to E following their advice but i t did make a difference. My problem is long body/wider shoulders/ lowerered norks (well i am 60) which means shoulder straps never seem long enough... (sounds charming eh ? but really they have not wandered that far south yet!! Grin.) the shorted shoulder strap thing is recent though, and M&S bras.. i have found actually buying things like Freya/Panache/Lepel much better, a little more expensive but much better and not R&P prices

Welcome aubergine great advice and frugal chat here. start off with checking utilities Direct debits and making a meal plan for next week based on food list making sure you are using up existing things in cupboard and freezer that have been in awhile ,,.. I also swear by YNAB for traking everything i spend but a notebook will also do it !

Unescorted · 24/03/2018 09:15

The sun is out. Frugal win of the day..... washing on the line. Skips off to be ProDuctive! Watch for a fascinating Instagram post later today.

Wolfcub · 24/03/2018 09:20

I love washing on the line unescorted, I’ve only managed it once this year so far

LonelyOversharer · 24/03/2018 09:32

Sorry unescorted, it was quiteclean ... need more coffee!

Girliefriendlikesflowers · 24/03/2018 09:33

We are a bit short on places to get bra measured here, I tried Debenhams last time but wasn't convinced at all. Am going to have to figure something out though as don't want dd to struggle with uncomfortable bras as well!!

Just getting up here, dd has riding this morning and then we are going to a friends for lunch. I've got a chap popping over later to sort out a few house jobs, hoping won't be more than about £30...

LonelyOversharer · 24/03/2018 09:38

Oh, and on the pressure vs slow cooker... we have had the slow cooker for under a year, before that an old style stove top pressure cooker. Yes it was great, but to be honest, scared the shit out of me always. I was sure it was about to explode (it didn't). We nearly bought a modern one (like they use on masterchef type programmes) that plug in, but I am much more comfortable with the slow bubbling of the slow cooker! But I am prone to panic. And have plenty of time to put it on, since we shut the shop I am not out of the house all day.

WreckTangled · 24/03/2018 11:02

lifelongfrugaleer · 24/03/2018 11:53

£78 Sainsbury's, £25 boyes in fabric and Easter egg decoration stuff

Fluffycloudland77 · 24/03/2018 12:34

Aubergine Welcome!.

Unescorted Grin. People look at me like I’m mad when I say I’m a dd cup but a 28DD is really small. It doesn’t help when surgically enhanced celebs say their a DD when their more like a G.

As always a simple decorating job is costing more. The sinks been leaking down the back of it’s concealed fitting because the fitting was bollocksed when they put it together and now it’s crumbled from water exposure. So we need two new fittings because the main bathrooms doing it too. Maybe I should order 3 in anticipation of the ensuite joining in.

ememem84 · 24/03/2018 13:02

£13 in coop. Got two Pyrex dishes. Big ones on the discount thing. Also bought bread milk croissants and bacon.

Moanranger · 24/03/2018 13:12

Lonely Quite mammy
Agree stove top pressure cookers scary, but these elec ones do not. Just quietly do their thing. I had neither before we got this, and then I spent Xmas experimenting. I think slow cookers can result in a “boiled”effect. Best in Pressure King - all pulses, I soak, then pressure cook briefly. Much cheaper than tinned & ready to use within a normal meal prep time. ( we do quite a lot of bean based Mexican dishes). Pork shoulder, pulled pork & ribs good, also beef brisket ( tho boiled effect sort of showed up, ribs need a finish under grill, tho pressure cooking tenderises the meat).
Some good soups. Chicken not so good, would probably just slow cook.
The useful thing is when pressure cooking finished, it switches to slo cooking, so you can start a pressure cook recipe & leave the house. I probably use it twice a week, so definitely worth it.

Mimosa1 · 24/03/2018 13:27

Hi everyone,
Can I join? Just had the most frustrating morning. We decided to go to a soft play venue with the children, decided to take a taxi as cheaper than parking - should have taken the bus but it's cold!) - soft play was closed. Stopped for lunch at a chain restaurant (which had a sister restaurant right next door to us), paid for taxi back and eldest was stroppy the entire time aaargh aaaargh aaaargh. So £50 for absolutely nothing except a rise in blood pressure....
So need to get a handle on spending!
