Not read today's posts yet but I had a frugal fail. Put a lovely beef stew in slow cooker this morning, forgot we weren't going to have any electricity for part of the day Blush the dogs will dine on beef casserole tonight Sad and I've got an hour or so to make & eat dinner and get dd to one of her activities on time
See ye later!

WreckTangled · 08/03/2018 17:57

Oh mammy that's annoying! Just the sort of thing I would do!

Laska5772 · 08/03/2018 18:07

mammy beef is fine to cook again if half done and usually better the next day anyhow .. dont give it to the dogs !! just restart it ..

Girliefriendlikesflowers · 08/03/2018 18:16

That's annoying mammy although I do think having pets makes me feel less wasteful when things like that happen! My cats are currently eating chicken that had been in the fridge a bit too long 🐱🐱

We had a nice dinner of spaghetti bol, the 'bol' bit was a defrosted portion and tasted great. Am stuffed now 🍝

Spent £40 in aldi, got lots for that and stuck to my list so think that's okay.

Been out in the garden for a few hours, put the green house up and it looks great, bargain at £15. Have sowed lots of seeds which in theory will save money as won't need to buy flowers for my hanging baskets and pots etc. Must not buy any more plants though 😑

Wigwigeconomist · 08/03/2018 18:48

quite emem fluffy thank you for answers to my question

Probably seems really straight forward but I can talk myself in circles about most things at the moment, I think it's being on maternity leave is leading to me

Wigwigeconomist · 08/03/2018 18:50

Sorry didn't finish

...overthinking
Ah well I've been inspired by northern to start cancelling/amending some of my regular payments

Sorry to hear about the beef stew, hope it can be salvaged

Laska5772 · 08/03/2018 19:18

We overpaid madly and paid this house off in 10 years! BUT it took almost all of every bonus DH ('hes not in the 'money mile' ', just a factory manager) , and I put all my mortgage money into my pension (as he doesn't have one of his own) ..

This perhaps was our 'forever home' when we bought it , we thought so, ,but now we are looking at retiring it isn't any more! .

Life changes.. I had thought about growing veg and having chickens etc,, and although some of that has happened , not all of it could because we are still working f/T..and I was never 'allowed' chickens Sad

We now are planning on a motor home and will look to downsize in the next few years..its a lovely house , not big , but the garden is huge.. if we go travelling -which we plan to - we will not be able to manage having a garden this big )

lifelongfrugaleer · 08/03/2018 19:31

The beef will be fine. Finished off in the oven. Make sure it's piping hot.

Looks like we are getting a c max. Test drive on Sunday.

Snuggly don't worry about keeping up. Life must be total bedlam for your now.

Em, lovely teething nappy?

SnugglySnerd · 08/03/2018 19:32

Yes I'm just a little bit busy Lonely! Sadly we won't see much of my pay each month after childcare is paid for. They more or less cancel each other out. On the bad days I've wondered why the hell I'm putting myself through it but most days have been good if tiring and at least I'm contributing to my pension!

mammymammyIRL · 08/03/2018 19:33

It was wallowing at half hot half cooked half cold most of the day would have been food poisoning for sure, it smelled lush though!

Approx €7.50 between meat/casserole mix which I usually never buy & pack of frozen veg. Must have made ddogs happy as they currently getting it on outside WinkGrin he's firing blanks though so they can work away!!

ememem84 · 08/03/2018 20:02

life I think so.... 💩💩

Ds pooped. I changed nappy and you know that split second where there is no nappy....?! Well he pooped again. Everywhere.

I had to call Dm for backup (usually can deal on my own but removals person due to provide quote in the half hour following poo and I didn’t want them to be faced with poo!)

OP posts:
WreckTangled · 08/03/2018 20:05

Always place the clean nappy underneath them whilst they still have the old nappy on, that way there is no nappy-less time!

lifelongfrugaleer · 08/03/2018 20:06

Those are the joys no one ever tells you about

ememem84 · 08/03/2018 20:14

I used to do that.... 🤣😂 ffs. No one tells you about this.

Fluffycloudland77 · 08/03/2018 20:35

You can buy puppy pads or incontinence absorbent sheets. They might be cheaper per use than a nappy.

MeadowHay · 08/03/2018 20:38

Oh Em!! Gross Grin. I'm not looking forward to all the bodily fluids that come with a baby tbh Confused.

Really fed up of work, I can't wait to go on mat leave. I'm fed up of a bunch of my colleagues that sit near me and just spend all day saying being nasty about people. And HR are majorly messing me about re: maternity leave and the job I applied for (separately). They are utterly incompetent and take ages to answer e-mails and if you call they just say they'll e-mail you! I hope I can find a better job whilst on mat leave. Tbh the job itself isn't even that bad - although pay is poor, with the minimum wage increasing soon I will actually then get less than NLW (as I'm under 25 they are allowed to pay me less anyway). Which is ridiculous for the job I do where you are expected to have at least a law degree to do it.

Also one our guinea pigs seems poorly. Not the one that was poorly awhile ago, the other one! I think there's something wrong with his teeth. He's seemed a bit 'off' the last two days or so and we've just been keeping an eye on him but this evening he appears to be really struggling to eat his vegetables Sad. Hopefully we can get an appt at the vet tomorrow and DH will take him in the afternoon when he's got a gap in-between stuff at uni. So yeah overall my stress levels are very high atm!!

Spends were £2.20 on a latte and a blueberry muffin to go with my lunch at work in the canteen. Oh balls and £3.50 on two mothers day cards, also from the canteen.

Laska5772 · 08/03/2018 20:48

oh spends.. I went to Waitrose . I was only returning a JL parcel.. £65 later.....Blush.
I did get rid of some more of the charity shop book CD and DVD mountain though ..

needastrongone · 08/03/2018 20:49

Evening. Oh my days are mental at the minute. Not helped by the snow that dumped itself on Yorkshire in just 2 hours this morning. But cheered up by some unexpected cuties in the mistal at the farm this morning where we keep our feed.

Unexpected snow day too as Yorkshire came to a standstill this morning due to said snow.

My week has been ferrying kids around, not to parties but to careers fairs, EPQ meetings, an interview today, maths tutor etc. Got a uni study day too all day Saturday. They don't get less time consuming as they get older at all!!

In my proud parent mode, dd has been offered a place at a Oxford Uni to attend a summer school and study Classical Archeology for a week in July. There's a high demand for places so I'm chuffed to bits for her as she applied by herself and insisted on no help. It's offered to students from state schools only, and it's totally free. She is effectively a uni student for the week.

laska having now got 2 and nearly adulthood and seeing how dd approaches her life choices and DS's more, er, relaxed attitude I feel your pain. It's incredibly hard not to keep stepping in and chivvying DS on, in fact I probably do too much anyway.

Spends
£150 on passport renewals for the dc, made use of the snow day, used the online service, they sorted and I just paid!
£10 parking as dd had a interview at the local army office (creme, didn't tell dd anything she hadn't researched online I'm afraid......)

needastrongone · 08/03/2018 20:51

Ps yes £150 for passports, sigh

WreckTangled · 08/03/2018 20:51

Wow well done to your dd need Smile

Dd is being a pita here saying she can't sleep and screaming/crying. She is blaming her night splints but I'm not sure if it's just an excuse or not...

needastrongone · 08/03/2018 20:53

How long do you have left meadow? We've just advertised for an office admin person 10 hours a week and have offered £8 per hour.....I'd not feel brilliant about myself offering less tbh. Their duties will be basic admin and filing. Poor you.

ememem84 · 08/03/2018 20:54

meadow honestly, you get used to it. I never thought I’d be able to deal with any of it. But you gotta do what you gotta do. Ds can’t do it himself.... if he could, he’d have cleaned himself up today!!

needastrongone · 08/03/2018 20:56

No snow here at all. .
Well done need dd.

Ah meadow that sounds awful. Hate bad HR.

lifelongfrugaleer · 08/03/2018 20:58

Ah cuties. Love them when they are young and curious like that.
