Did give me a bit of a shock at 6am this morning though!! They're very sweet.

SunnyLikeThursday · 08/03/2018 21:12

Girlie I did that course. I found it really interesting too. I feel much relaxed driving now and not feeling that I have to drive at the speed limit all the time. That was how I was taught, but now apparently it's okay to just go a few mph below, which I much prefer.

I've decided to give myself a holiday. I spent the day in bed and it was nice.

WreckTangled · 08/03/2018 21:17

I want to get up but don't want to disturb him...

Has your dd settled wrecked?

I'm the same when the dogs get settled too.

WreckTangled · 08/03/2018 21:24

Yes but only because dh lied with her and so now he's super grumpy Grin think I'm best off going to bed!

Wigwigeconomist · 08/03/2018 21:25

Thanks laska no mortgage within 10 years is very impressive !

Congratulations to your daughter needa must be very exciting for her

needastrongone · 08/03/2018 21:32

Thanks wig and welcome. I'm usually mega chatty, this week has been somewhat challenging in terms of timeSmile. We are a mega friendly bunch though, if talkative at times.

Girliefriendlikesflowers · 08/03/2018 21:45

That's great re your dd need both your kids do you proud.

Your cat is so amazing wreck does he need a lot of brushing?

meadow that's rubbish, I guess just do your time now, mat leave will soon be here!!

Ahh yes the poonamis, dd used to have a trick of crapping all the way up her back which required a mid day bath!! I don't miss those days tbh 😂

Yes sunny the bit that resonated with me was when they pointed out how much time you gain by going 5 -10 miles over the limit is literally seconds so it's really not worth it!!

WreckTangled · 08/03/2018 21:59

Nope no brushing, he sorts himself out.

CremeEggThief · 08/03/2018 21:59

Hope the day of rest does you good, Sunny.Brew

Wow, Need, I really hope we've seen the last of the white stuff. I hope it thaws quickly. Well done to your DD for the summer uni place too!Star It's a shame I don't live nearer, as I would love to apply for your admin job. Even though I am getting some more supply now, it's still too erratic and its stop/start nature doesn't do my mental health any good, so I want something much more regular.

Spends: 50p mailing bag and £2.50 in Greggs, on a latte and cinnamon roll. Yum!

Laska5772 · 08/03/2018 22:01

wig Yes but our mortgage probably want as big as some .Just over 120K.. 3rd or 4th house.. I am a lot older than all I think of the other frugalleers ! Also its incredible just how much you save and how quickly it goes down if you are paying off big chunks of capital each month.. we paid by over double.. but as i say we are at a different stage of life , and had no small DCs. Ours were late teen when we bought this house and neither of them opted for uni . that also makes a huge difference. ..

Need Thanks .. I do hope your DS and DD 'launch' more successfully into the world of work than my DS did, (as you know he crashed out of education at a crucial moment.. ) but he is a nice lad even, though I say so myself, and he has come a long way to making up for lost time in the last few years .Its just that he is coming to the end of yet another temp contract and is getting desperate and despondent about finding more work. . DD is fine as a worker and as mum , (but she is living with a real waste of space for a partner , who it seems 'cant work' or just wont, although of course I didn't say that Sigh.. but its her life.. )

Laska5772 · 08/03/2018 22:02

creme I reckon need would be right scary to work for !! GrinGrin

CremeEggThief · 08/03/2018 22:05

I imagine her as a firm but fair boss type, Laska.Grin

Laska5772 · 08/03/2018 22:05

wig I just read that post i wrote back..It sounded like i am a bit of a property tycoon! That is not the 3rd or 4th house we Own ! I meant the 3rd or 4th I have lived in and paid mortgage for.. !!

Laska5772 · 08/03/2018 22:07

Scary creme no doubt about it.. she'd have you running miles every morning too and mucking out the horses....

SnugglySnerd · 08/03/2018 22:15

Well done Need's DD.

No more snow here thank goodness.

Welcome to newcomers btw. I forgot to say it earlier.

needastrongone · 08/03/2018 22:19

I did wonder about your previously unmentioned property empire laskaGrinSmile

I am the best boss ever naturally, one of our guys said my peppermint tea smelt like 'dog shit alley' and refused to make me another yesterday and I didn't even reprimand them Grin

creme, from what I know of you, I'd offer you the job there and then if you lived here. The uncertainty must be tough. Would there be any other work area that wouldn't aggravate your CFS that you might utilise? You're intelligent enough to have cover all bases though I guess and considered this. Would some tutoring work?

Girliefriendlikesflowers · 08/03/2018 22:20

Haha laska 😂

That's good wreck the only long haired cat I've ever owned was a nightmare for brushing, he used to get really matted but hated being brushed! !

I can't believe you're still getting snow need it's been beautiful here today really sunny 🌞 the perks of being a soft southerner 😉

CremeEggThief · 08/03/2018 22:28

Aw, Need, thank you. Laska, I'd actually quite enjoy mucking out, although I don't know if I'd be up to running miles every morning! Maybe a 3 mile dog walk in the brighter evenings we're starting to have though!Wink Seriously though, I've felt a lot better physically in general for the past few months, and I actually think I could manage full-time work in an office based job. I've even enquired at local colleges about back to work office refresher courses, but they don't really run those any more. My sister told me to look at online admin training and then approach some temp agencies. Do any of you know which online training is cheap or free and well regarded?

Laska5772 · 08/03/2018 22:45

.. also what about the uniform she would make you wear ? You did see that photo of need's onesie and wellies didnt you? .

need your employee was def BVVU.. I used to work with someone who drank Roobois (redbush?) tea . that is definitely dog shit alley

Cagliostro · 08/03/2018 22:55

Spends £5ish food (poor planning), 49p unlocking a periodic table app for DS. He hasn’t seen it yet but I’ve had fun with it :o forgot to say frugal win yesterday, found the chemistry book I was looking at in the library, so will use what we can of it before seeing if it needs to be a permanent fixture.

Knackered and possibly in for a rough night as baby had her last jabs today! But I did have a good chat with DH over dinner about all the things we have to do, organise and pay for when we move. In a word: fuuuuuuuuuuck. So so so much to do. 😱😱😱

Sleep is calling! I see we are on the penultimate thread page already 😂

AuditAngel · 08/03/2018 23:13

Thanks for all the good wishes.

Spent £4.49 today which was salad/drink/popcorn meal deal plus pack if cheesesteaks.

Went back to work today. They were really good, said I didn't need to be there if not ready. Former boss suggested keeping an eye on DS and asking school for help if needed. (Bosses son bottled things up when GP died). Was also told not to worry that I have taken 7 or 8 comoassionate days against entitlement of 5 days. I have worked for company for 22 years, take little sick time, so on receive more leeway when I do need something.

Meeting friend tomorrow re funeral flowers. Will be much cheaper than retail. Need to oat dancing lessons £100 for half term for both girls.

LonelyOversharer · 08/03/2018 23:27

Your work sound lovely audit hope you've got your brother in line. Wills and money are a nightmare re families too. Turns loving people into monsters.

I'm just cuddling a tub of fudge icing I found in the fridge (too solid to pipe), making choccy dodgers for dd3's class, 34 in yr 5! Ffs that's a lot of biscuits. I want to go to bed...

need that is so fab for your dd Star that will give her a real idea of how it will be at uni.

northender · 09/03/2018 06:48

Well done to your dd need. We've got 9 weeks until ds starts his GCSEs and I'm wishing he had a bit more of his sister's work ethic! He's had a lot to contend with this school year though and has an op next week so I'm trying to take a softly softly approach, but it's hard at times.
Welcome Wig, lots of support here.
We didn't get much of yesterday's snow but there was a few inches very close by and it caused chaos on the roads.
Work today, curry for tea. I'm guessing we might be on a new thread by the time I get back.

lifelongfrugaleer · 09/03/2018 07:20

Crème, passport office use seimens I believe. I will find out where our temps are from.
Civil service admin jobs don't usually need anything more than basic maths and English. CS jobs website has a decent enough search facility.
