Enjoy the holiday Nofilter, loving the idea of hmo. Or holiday lets? Our old cattery was in the middle of nowhere and had a barn converted to holiday lets, swimming pool, indoor hot tub. It seemed to do well.

I’ve seen peer to peer on mse but not really looked into it.

Fluffycloudland77 · 07/03/2018 07:39

Welcome Wig

lifelongfrugaleer · 07/03/2018 07:54

Yeah, once she has tamed her Hush habit.

See, I knew she would have looked at it.

lifelongfrugaleer · 07/03/2018 07:55

Sorry, read the update wrong.

ememem84 · 07/03/2018 08:07

Today’s job. Call removals. And continue the pack up/declutter/decide what’s going with us to dms house.

nofilter I'm trying to organise myself to invest money in the stockmarket. I have a trading account, and have done some buying and selling, which got me a 10% profit in 3 months. I only buy stuff when I'm really pretty sure though, and it's not often that that kind of certainty comes along. Apparently the usual thing is to buy trackers and I'm working up to it, but haven't yet. I haven't tried any of the less mainstream things that you are talking about.

WreckTangled · 07/03/2018 08:20

Should be another nsd today. I'm in lots of pain so will mainly be in the office drinking coffee and eating chocolate Grin

Wigwigeconomist · 07/03/2018 08:25

Thank you for the welcome All

nofilter holiday savings sound lovely, enjoy it! A holiday savings accounts is one of the ways I want to manage my money so this is good to hear/inspiring!

emem good luck with the declutter, I did this the other week with my clothes. Psychologically made a big difference and I can now see all the clothes I own Grin

Will also have a look into this plum plum platform

Wigwigeconomist · 07/03/2018 08:28

sunny investment in the stock markets sounds really interesting but quite intimidating for novices like me! Again, something more to look into Brew

wreck chocolate will definitely help!

Fluffycloudland77 · 07/03/2018 08:43

No hush habit here. Boden clearance all the way.

Hoping Dh gets a birthday voucher off them.

Girliefriendlikesflowers · 07/03/2018 09:59

Morning everyone, ridiculously busy day yesterday in the day and fairly spendy.

£2.40 parking
£2 cards
£5 coffee with a friend
£25 Wilkos various things
£12 Superdrug, vitamins for dd
£4 flowers for mothers day

We are off to Bristol soon to watch Hairspray, told the school the truth in the end, have also emailed her year head and requested a meeting as still have some concerns re dd and how she is coping socially/ emotionally. I never heard back from him after my last email so have been a little more forthright this time!!

Apologies not caught up with the thread.

WreckTangled · 07/03/2018 10:11

Girlie they should have a pastoral team at the school it would probably be worth asking to speak with them.

ememem84 · 07/03/2018 10:45

Another bag filled for charity shop. DMS just been round and collected bags and has taken them for me. Hoorah.

Have filled two more boxes with kitchen stuff. Catface is going mad. “Mother I just wanted a quiet day and you’re clanking around doing wierd shit. What’s going. The hell on. I’ll need dreamies for this” is what I’m imagining her to be sayin g when she pops her head up from the couch yawns and meows.

Only expenditure today was fuel £22. Doing a lot of business travel this week so will reclaim the mileage.
Frugaleer success - I put on one of my pairs of Levi’s ( I have two) and found they have worn through completely around seat. Decided I must replace (£77!). Thought about it for awhile. Other pair ok, and I only wear one at a time, so will wait til second pair wears out. I am doing that sort of thinking more and more.
Due to up-thread ebaying success, have looked around garage. Not much to sell but have Oster brand dog clippers in original box. Ought to get something for these, so will put on eBay at weekend. Last dog RIP last year & decided not to replace ( a Springer spaniel is a vet’s delight). That has saved money.
Re stock market - tread carefully, all. I grew up in a family of stock investors so no mystery to me. You need to really know what you are doing. Lots of bogus tips around, and market is dominated by institutional investors & their algorithms; very hard to beat unless you constantly watch & can move quickly. If you are a novice, stick with funds, preferably trackers. If you want to invest, look for low P/E ratios ( also call EDBITS). If this is all double Dutch, then stay away or do LOTS of research.

Wolfcub · 07/03/2018 17:48

Bit the bullet and went to the dr after nagging from dh, boss and nurse friend. Upshot is I’m fat (she didn’t say that but sh weoghed me and I could have cried) and need blood tests. No surprise there. Two week wait for blood to be taken thought which means at least three until results. Potential suspects glandular fever, thyroid (would be a good excuse for being a fat bastard), anemia etc.

£8 window cleaner
£45 Boden clearance sale (someone a few posts up is a bad influence) if it doesn’t go back it’s for an important event I’m running next week and might distract from my quasimunfo like appearance at present Grin

SunnyLikeThursday · 07/03/2018 18:20

I just discovered that the new gluten-free pizzas that ds has been cheerfully wolfing down whole have nearly 4g salt in them. ShockShockShock

I suppose we're meant to share them, but I can't eat pizza and dh doesn't want to eat cardboard non-wheat pizza, so ds gets them all to himself. Tricky.

SunnyLikeThursday · 07/03/2018 18:20

I'm stuck sitting home from Beavers tonight because I have the wonky inards. Cheezed of about that. Must try harder with pacing.

CremeEggThief · 07/03/2018 18:41

I'm feeling really tired myself this week, Sunny, and I've even been slacking on the housework, so definitely not a case of overdoing anything! Maybe it's something to do with being snowbound last week? 😕 I have been a bit slack about taking my vitamin D and multivitamin supplements lately, so I resolve to be more diligent about that.

£18.20 weekly bus ticket, as I have some supply work this week and probably next.

MeadowHay · 07/03/2018 19:02

Em Good luck with your moving, do you have a date yet? Sorry I can't keep up with this thread, you've probably already said before. I hate moving, hope it goes well Brew

Mammy Audit Hope you're both doing ok given your respective circs Flowers Brew

Sunny Creme Hope you feel more energised again soon! Have a Brew

Today was ok. I have done some good stuff at work recently that I am quite proud of. But then I will be super fucked off if I don't get that promotion I applied for which it doesn't look like I am, still not heard anything at all about it...Angry

Spends today was £2.20 on the biggest jacket potato I have ever seen in my life in my work canteen for lunch, with cheese and salad. Yum. I still managed an apple, and a bag of popcorn later in the afternoon Blush. The little bags of popcorn are actually a really good snack, I've got the Butterkist cinema-style sweet ones and they're not amazing but they're nice enough and only 63 calories plus take awhile to eat. I'm never going to win any awards for healthy eating but trying to make some better choices at least, like getting more fruit and veg in me and avoiding constantly snacking on chocolate/biscuits etc.

Is anyone from/familiar with Nottinghamshire/Derbyshire? We might be staying in Nottingham/Derby for a weekend in a few weeks but trying to decide whether to bother or not, can anyone recommend anywhere nice to visit? Bearing in mind we don't have a car.

SunnyLikeThursday · 07/03/2018 19:06

Creme yes you're right. I had a mild flu thing before the holidays (I think it was mild because I'd had the vaccine, it was quite common here among vaccinated people) and then we were travelling in the holiday, and then I was neighbourhood entertainments secretary during the snow. It's no wonder I'm knackered.

I can't take vitamin supplements, which really isn't helping. I might go back to the GP and ask about that. (Eeep!)

Loveabaconsandwich · 07/03/2018 19:40

First proper day in my new job and having quite a wobble about whether i’ve done the right thing. Not really helped by the fact there is another job i’d like to apply for but now i’ve given up DD1s before/after school care, particularly on a Wednesday as they are full, I won’t be able to get it back anytime soon so can’t apply. Arrrgh. The one day DP can’t help by starting later/finishing earlier is Wednesday.

I’m frugal times, I took myself a packed lunch today which is unheard of.

Went to M&S to pick up my clothes order and got some reduced pitta bread for 30p and have frozen individually. Going to make DP and I a better pack up tomorrow (he rarely takes lunch nor then has time to buy lunch). Lunch boxes have been removed from the top of the cupboard and scrubbed Halo

£2 M&S inc some chocolate eclairs Blush
£3 Tesco on branded Angry allergy tablets as I ran out and I had an itchy face

Hope everyone is ok, struggling to keep up at the moment

Wolfcub · 07/03/2018 19:48

Love it’s likely to take a couple of months before you settle. Any wobbles in that time are perfectly normal and expected. Well done on the frugal lunching
