Just as an example. There are other jobs in other areas.

ChristmasSeacow · 09/03/2018 07:44

Well done to Need DD. I did one of those courses myself (specifically for state school girls in science) and it encouraged me to apply to oxford. I applied to the college of the tutor who was one of the course leaders as I’d liked him, and it turned out to be a brilliant college. And there I met my lifelong group of best friends and my husband... (though I am not suggesting you start buying for the grandchildren just yet Grin)

I have Ocado coming later, £120. And it’s not even everything as I forgot nappies, ffs. I am also feeling a bit fed up - I’ve been hanging around at home most of this week as I’m trying to get DD to have good long naps in her cot... but she’s not bloody napping during the day (other than cat naps in the pram on the school run). She’s knackered. House is a tip as I have no free time and a clingy tired baby to juggle. Grrr. This would be so much easier without the school run to mess up naps!

Today I’m not staying at home all day as it doesn’t work anyway. I’ll either take DD to the sing and story session at the library or to Mothercare /Ikea. I might be in a dangerous mood for shops though.

We’re going to the Natural History Museum tomorrow in a special early opening sessionfor ASD children and families. It’s lovely of them to do it (2 hours before the museum opens to the public, advanced booking of very small numbers and lots of staff on hand etc). BUT it means leaving home at about 6.30am. Which is easier said than done as DS has a morning routine and won’t deviate or cut it short (for instance he wouldn’t eat breakfast on the train, he’ll want his usual slow cereal and toast at home 🙄). So we reckon we’re just all getting up at 5am. I sincerely hope he likes it when we get there!

Incidentally, does anyone follow Humans of New York on fb /instagram or whatever? They are giving first hand accounts from Rohingya refugees and it is truly heartbreaking. I told DH not to buy me flowers or anything for mother’s day but to donate to their appeal instead. So many families decimated, and so many mothers losing their children. It’s horrific Sad

WreckTangled · 09/03/2018 07:55

Seacow it's si heartbreaking I can't even bear to read the stories. I'm in London tomorrow, I'll look out for you Grin

Busy day today. Dietitian appointment at 9:30, then popping in to see my friend as I'll be parking at her house to save on the hospital parking Grin need to do a small top up shop in Aldi, just lunch and breakfast bits. The house is a tip, need to get Mother's Day cards and post them and then it's ds' class Mother's Day afternoon tea party so going to that too.

Wigwigeconomist · 09/03/2018 08:06

laska ha I did wonder Grin

cag I hope your daughter wasn't too unsettled
For you overnight

I don't follow that New York instagrammed but I'll definitely have a look, thanks for recommending

Wigwigeconomist · 09/03/2018 08:10

Gosh christmas I've just crossed over to Instagram to check it out, how incredibly sad but such a good way to raise awareness, am now following

Wolfcub · 09/03/2018 08:35

Morning all

Need, well done to your dd. Our snow has mostly melted and ds’s school was one of the only ones to open, albeit late so no snow day here.
Waiting for the gas man, will be £50 minimum
Ocado shop came last night £122 but found out from checking bank account that dh spent £29 in Tesco which I am annoyed about as I only sent him for bread and ham
Having a flexi day as I am feeling truly shocking, I never take time off work ill but I’m honestly wondering how I will get through the next few weeks waiting for tests and results, I don’t think I’ve ever felt quite this shit. I have a major event I’m running next week and a number of other things I’ve got to get done including a potentially life changing job interview (from a family finance pov) soft results should be released today/Monday so I will know one way or another if I have to do iv prep. Time off sick isn’t really realistic In those circs

Had a bit of a mad tidy around pre gas man, I’m hoping he has really poor eye sight as I’m not sure I’ve made a significant dent

ememem84 · 09/03/2018 09:02

Morning y’all

Today ds and I are going for a play date with a new friend. She’s a friend of a friend and we met a couple of weeks ago. Mutual friend suggested we get together swapped out numbers etc and then last week told me she (mutual friend) is leaving to move to Luxembourg. Waaaaa.

So we’re going to her place to play with her daughter.

Have to stop at charity shop and post office.

Started set two of my Invisalign today. Only another 78 weeks to go...

Sad news yesterday dh’s godfather sadly passed away after a very short illness. Dh is organising flowers from all of us today. He had to call mil and tell her yesterday.

This week has been spendy. The weekend will be too. Toys R Us have a closing down sale so I am seriously considering starting my Xmas shopping very early this year! We have loads of kids to buy for so it makes sense. Only problem is storage until Xmas.

mammymammyIRL · 09/03/2018 11:40

Hope this thread doesn't fill up while I'm doing my catch up post!

Couldn't find my fuel card in my queue at till before work this morning so paid for my fuel 27.90, ready meal for lunch today 3.49

We don't overpay on mortgage but have a tracker so it's cheapest form of finance we'll ever have. But if you're paying big interest it's definitely the way to go. When I'm on track financially I'll save so that the money is sitting there to pay off mortgage whenever I way [dreams]

Notification from disputed refund this morning, they're now refunding it, prompted by cc chargeback investigation for sure Angry

snuggly your children won't be small forever and you'll still have a career, and the pension is worthwhile reason too. Those years are a struggle but hopefully a worthwhile struggle. That's what I keep telling myself anyhow.

need just see now about your dc passport renewals, I must try get our childrens sorted before things get nasty. Think I can take them to uk without a passport anyhow. Holiday booked for July, my plan would be that one or the other of us take the dc anyhow.

A trick for those of ye with poonami babies or expecting - the neck of the babies vest is envelope style for this reason, it can widen to be removed down their bodies rather than over their heads. Wink

girlie interesting to read that all you gain is a few seconds on your journey, I have noticed this when travelling and being careful due to expecting frost/ice that my journey doesn't take that much longer than when I drive at 100km Confused

laska I have forgotten about your dd Blush but remember your ill grandchild now and it makes sense! What age is that little baby now?

audit glad to hear your work have shown you compassion.

We are away for mothers day, myself and dc, last night dh had organised a pot plant each from them and a card each. Which goes further to show how little he knows me, I'm the least likely person to enjoy a pot plant ever. I know it was just to mark occasion for dc but seriously Hmm a bar of chocolate, a book/magazine, something running/cooking related HmmConfused

wolf I know exactly what you're saying about seeing the checking account and the amount that the other party has spent on a topup shop. You've been budgeting carefully and then it just throws everything completely off course.

This Revive Active is the supplement that has helped me get back on course a little, it's expensive though. 10% off first order with FEB10. I purchased from meaghars pharmacy but they may not deliver to uk, if they do I've a discount code for there too, and it came with a months supply of krill oil as well and was packaged beautifully, and had 4 mini packs of love hearts with it which dc were delighted with Grin

em isn't that fabulous of your friend to introduce ye to keep each other company and to keep the chain of friendship open? Hope ye enjoy playdate Smile

snuggly have you family members with attic space that could store items from toyrus?

CremeEggThief · 09/03/2018 12:02

Thanks very much for the link, Life.

I'll post again later; maybe on the new thread.

ChristmasSeacow · 09/03/2018 12:51

Wig I love Humans if New York. It’ based in ny and just tells bite-sized stories. Sometimes funny, sometimes uplifting, sometimes very sad. But I do love it when he travels and tells the stories from another place. He did a series from a US prison, and the paediatric ward of a cancer hospital... so different but both so interesting.a

Wreck I’ll be the frazzled one with a screeching 5-year old and bemused looking baby! Are you doing anything exciting in the Big Smoke?

SnugglySnerd · 09/03/2018 12:59

Thanks *mamm I keep telling myself it'll only be hard for a couple of years. I'm quite enjoying work on the whole. Few tricky students but it's nice to do something different and at least they can wipe their own bottoms!

SnugglySnerd · 09/03/2018 13:00

Sorry mammy. Not sure why that came out wrong!

ChristmasSeacow · 09/03/2018 13:02

Ooh spends.... I went to Mothercare. New school shoes for DS £36. I didn’t get casual shoes as they didn’t have the right size in so I’ll have to order them. Then £19 on some sale clothes for dd (bargainous, more than 50% off! Bigger sizes to put away) and then £8 on nappies and £22 on plastic toys for DD. The toys were a want rather than a Need tbh as she has all of DS’s old stuff but frankly I am very bored with demonstrating stacking rings and I want to demonstrate animals popping up for a change. So toys for me really Grin. I think I spent more time out with DS than I do with dd as the current toy selection is really not very varied!

If dd doesn’t sleep (ie definitely!) I’ll pop out later for a Mother’s Day card. I ordered one from Etsy that was particularly apt but it hadn’t arrived. Nor have the photos I got printed. I think there’s delays with our post Hmm.

I am watching dd eat scrambled eggs with her bare hands. I’ll need to wash her hair tonight.

WreckTangled · 09/03/2018 13:15

We're going to the lounge cinema then out for dinner. Brunch in Richmond on Sunday Smile

£1.20 stamps
£36 Aldi

Cagliostro · 09/03/2018 15:23

New Fred.

Moanranger · 10/03/2018 13:26

Hi all Frugaleers I’ve been away for work a couple of days so v low to NSDs. Today £18 at Sainsbury’s for stuff I could not get anywhere else cheaper, and official ( cue drumroll) last use of 0% interest credit card!Grin I can start paying myself again after 1April. CC now put away & slow process of paying off over the next 2 years continues.
Reading all your posts, glad my D.C. are grown & buy own shoes, etc. Do not miss that aspect of young childhood.
Mother’s Day - no idea! DD in Morocco with BF, so I will probably get a text, son around, maybe a card? We don’t do sulking here - I know they love me. AND my bad mummy prize is the year I completely forgot my son’s birthday - his 21st!
