Hi! Thanks for all the well wishes! We are happy but to be honest mostly just trying not to get ahead of ourselves at the moment really, as I'm barely even pregnant. I am a very practical person and know that miscarriage within first 12 weeks is not uncommon really and my mam miscarried her first like that. It's just this cycle, been using fertility friend to track my cycles and when my period was about 3 days late according to that I did a test and there you have it. But I have had some light brownish sludgey discharge this evening, should I be worried about that? Confused Have booked GP appt for Monday as NHS website told me to do that Grin.

Today spends were about £5 on a sandwich and muffin for lunch and a flapjack for DH. One of my colleagues had her last day today and we went to this little local café to buy lunch.

I got my September & October Birch boxes both at the same time yesterday btw, I am quite pleased with them so far Smile.

Will try and do some catching up now on this thread...

WreckTangled · 10/10/2017 19:33

No meadow don't worry about that. Brown is old blood. Argh you lot making me broody!!! Maybe I'll get a puppy...

SnugglySnerd · 10/10/2017 19:54

I think it's only red blood that's a concern Meadow. How are you feeling?

I am so so so tired. I actually ache with it and I keep doing stupid things like turning on the oven and setting the timer without putting the actual food in. That was a disappointment when the timer went off. Don't laugh!

Hope I can stay awake for GBBO.

meadow don’t worry about that - from memory that’s normal. Easier said than done but don’t stress anything.

JO green pasta for dinner. Yum.

Ds got a bit grouchy when Dh came home. Dh took him and pumped his legs about. Farts-a-go-go. Ds doesn’t like it when we laugh at him though.

Dh has gone to the shop now. I’ve asked him for a peanut butter kitkat. Mmm.

Watching bake off. I really dislike the blonde woman (Stacy?) Eugh. She’s such a ty hard.

Laska5772 · 10/10/2017 20:08

ChristmasSeacow · 10/10/2017 20:19

DD is in bed! This is the earliest we've ever claimed our evening back, but I am not counting on her necessarily staying there... we'll just enjoy it while it lasts. Hopefully at least until we've eaten dinner.

Re. GBBO, anyone else think Yan is a female version of Gregg Wallace?

ememem84 · 10/10/2017 20:35

seacow omg yes!!!

100yearsdotcom · 10/10/2017 21:47

Aww meadow! Congratulations! Try not to worry, I had spotting all the way through my first trimester with DD and she is the healthiest little pudding I've ever known!

Thanks for the thread snuggly these chats are moving so fast at the moment!

sunny you mentioned a jobs website the other day but I can't find it on the last thread, could you remind me what it was please? And congratulations on your project and good luck going forward!

100yearsdotcom · 10/10/2017 21:48

Yay for eating before the evening is the morning seacow! GrinCake

northender · 10/10/2017 22:01

Congratulations Meadow, great news!
Thanks for the new thread snuggly, can't believe how quickly they fill up.
Great news on the exhibition Sunny.
NSD here today as we were both working and took lunches in with us.
After work tomorrow I'm off down South for 3 days to train as a Buteyko practitioner. It's a breathing technique devised by a Russian doctor to reduce the symptoms of asthma. It fits well with my background as a respiratory Physio and hopefully will give me some options for extra income, either through private work or some specialist NHS commissioning (if I'm good enough at it then there's a cost saving to the NHS long term in reduced inhaler use). I'm quite excited now, not just about the training, but about having 3 nights staying in a pub with no dc Grin. Equally, the dc are looking forward to me being away as apparently Dh is more of a pushover!!

HollyTheHarrier · 10/10/2017 22:02

Well done sunny

snuggly i’m in Brum too (although from the south originally so I don’t like to call myself Brummy haha). Hope you have fun at the Christmas markets mammy

cag glad your doctor is nice and supportive

MeadowHay · 10/10/2017 22:02

Thanks ladies, I figured probably nothing to worry about but it is all kinda new and scary. I had a little cry earlier in case we have ruined our lives so young but whatever you do in life some doors will close and others will open so I know it's silly really. It's just big and scary even though we are happy.

Em I am enjoying reading your posts about DS when I get the chance! I am definitely not going to enjoy being sleep deprived though. I think I am one of those people who really needs their sleep so I dunno how I will cope with that eek.

Seacow Well done DD, haha.

Gosh, there are a lot of newborns & pregnancies on this thread aren't there? Grin

Wreck Adopt a rescue dog Grin.

Going dentist tomorrow. Don't pregnant women get free dental treatment and things? How do I arrange that? We have already applied for our HC2 certificate a few weeks ago but that usually takes yonks to get sorted and I'm not even sure if we will be eligible for free prescriptions and things based on my salary, just applied anyway. I can claim some dental money back from my health care cash plan at work anyway so will deffo need to get a receipt for it either way.

Girliefriendlikesflowers · 10/10/2017 23:19

Not a LSD in the end £67.50 to pay for dds drama group for the term.

Also £20 towards school photos and £15 for tickets for a show dd is in

Also had a look at what presents I had stashed away and was depressed to see it I don't really have that much! Oh well, need to get creative and start making some gifts!!

LonelyOversharer · 10/10/2017 23:23

Evening all. So tired. Went for my bike ride, it was very windy, 18 miles; and then did 24 more on the turbo (dp is now leading a zwift ride). And theres no good snacks in.

mammy we eat apple jelly with meat, dd3 has lots with chicken especially. I also stir a spoon in when making porridge, makes it sweeter and melts in.

I did manage a nsd day! Woo hoo. Not many of those.

I made apple pie, very yummy. Used some cornflour to thicken the apples, worked v well, tip gleaned from "you gotta eat here" mindless late night telly. Made tortillas into bowls that the dd's really liked.

ememem84 · 11/10/2017 02:04

meadow I don’t think anyone enjoys the sleep deprivation bit...!!

If you’re both happy about it you haven’t ruined anything!

I remember feeling terrified when I found out - could I do it? Oh and the what ifs that went through my head... too from me. Don’t play the “what if...” game. Take everyday as a new day and deal with things - and buy a pregnancy pillow as early as you can. They’re the best!

thewaitresses · 11/10/2017 06:21

Congratulations meadow! Don't sweat the small stuff - it'll work itself out! Just focus on that adorable, squishy, bundle of joy you'll have at the end of it!

Spends yesterday:

£41.68 Aldi
£50 petrol
£10 dd breakfast club
£20 cash for dh as his card wasn't working and he needed his hair cut.

Aiming for LSD today - just a cucumber and some baking ingredients.

SunnyLikeThursday · 11/10/2017 06:26

Thanks Mammy no it's just down the road here, so not far to go at all.

Fluffy yes I've to sit behind a table and show people my invention. I don't mind that thought I need to be careful not to be put next to someone whose invention is all screens and LED lights as my eyes don't thank me for that kind of thing.

I don't mind talking to people about stuff really. Before ds was born I used to travel all across america giving talks about science stuff and I was very funny on stage. I get a buzz from doing it. I'm a bit less gung ho now after total baby burnout obviously, but getting better and on the way to proper self I think. touching wood now

Excellent news about your neighbour. Good riddance to him. Excellent news also about yours Em.

100 it was Upwork. Great for writing jobs and web design stuff, editing and proofreading. That sort of thing.

North I'm very interested in your training course. I've had Chronic hyperventilation trouble for donkeys years. I've been using an online thing called Hyperven and it's brilliant. Good luck with the Buteyko.

lifelongfrugaleer · 11/10/2017 06:30

Nsd planned today. Ds back at the dentist after his face bump.
Dentist for me too tonight but that's paid for monthly.

Loveabaconsandwich · 11/10/2017 06:52

meadow can’t see if anyone replied to your dental question. I think you will have to pay today but tell the receptionist and they should know the form to give you to get a refund.

WreckTangled · 11/10/2017 07:33

Wow north that sounds interesting! Where down south are you going?

Meadow you usually get a maternity exemption card but not sure about this early on. I never bothered with one as I get all my prescription cards free anyway and the dentist could always see I was pregnant at the times I went. You definitely need to tell them though. They will be able to advise you. You get it free for a year after too.

Should be a nsd today. I have a 1-2-1 with my manager hopefully I can discuss changing my days.

ChristmasSeacow · 11/10/2017 08:01

Meadow to get your maternity exemption certificate (free dental care and prescriptions) you need a form from your GP or midwife. if you apply soon they will backdate it to cover now but you need a special receipt with any prescriptions to reclaim (same may be true of dental care - though if you tell them you are pregnant they might not ask you to pay but to just update them with your certificate number when you have it - that's what mine did).

Fluffycloudland77 · 11/10/2017 08:22

Oh yes everyone loves led now Sunny. My mum was the same with fluorescent.

North I'd be interested in that too.

SunnyLikeThursday · 11/10/2017 08:41

Fluffy Yes I'm hoping they'll improve the LED lights so I can enjoy them too. :-) My parents are moving into a house lit entirely by LED spotlights, so I'm hoping I can learn to live with them, or that there is some other kind of LED that is friendlier that we can fit in the slots.

SnugglySnerd · 11/10/2017 08:51

Waves to Holly! Didn't know you were in Brum too.

Meadow you will need a booking appointment with the midwife. From memory this is at about 8 weeks. They will arrange your 12 week scan and give you the form for free dental care and prescriptions.

Bake Off was great again. I want to try canoli now. Don't know where would sell them. Carluccio's maybe?

Hoping for NSD but the birds are unimpressed with the supermarket bird seed sowing I might nip up to the garden centre for some of the RSPB stuff that they like and the dcs can see the pets.
