There's a review on John Lewis with a man saying it's the most popular gift he's ever got his wife.

Lidl are doing ordinary furry throws tomorrow, I'm considering one for Dh while he's watching tv.

ememem84 · 21/10/2017 15:46

£39.50 nails, £10 JD sports on socks for dh, £7 ish in the Tesco shop on Diet Coke and cereal bars. And £54 in Dorothy Perkins on a jumper, a denim skirt, and a pair of ankle boots. 20% off there today.

It is blowing an absolute hooley here too. I got caught in the rain waiting for dh to pick me up. 25 minutes late. Sigh.

ememem84 · 21/10/2017 15:48

fluffy ooooh cosy

cag feeling a bit icky and Brixton hicks??? That’s how I felt. Then Ds made his appearance. Hopefully it’s the start of something for you. Take care of yourself and relax.

LillyLollyLandy · 21/10/2017 16:14

Mammy I’ve been lurking for quite a long time and decided to join in at the start of September then promptly disappeared again as I was a bit overwhelmed with being back at work! Feeling more in control now Smile

Pinkpeppermintteaforme · 21/10/2017 16:19

That looks cosy Fluffy
We have a glut of cats that are used as heating implements Grin

Cagliostro · 21/10/2017 16:45

Yup em feeling kinda sick and really struggled with the walk and stairs in the hospital (just waiting for second steroids now). Maybe she's moving down lower or something which would certainly help! :o

I don't think you said, was it your waters that went first or did you start getting contractions? I'm just being nosy so feel free to tell me to sod off :o

Was going to be unfrugal and buy some bits in the little m&s food in the hospital but decided against it. Reading all the labels was making me anxious anyway as I really don't want to mess up now.

mammymammyIRL · 21/10/2017 17:00

Excellent Lilly returning to work can be kinda crazy

LonelyOversharer · 21/10/2017 17:06

cag just a couple of days max left to worry about blood sugar, once your dd is here and ok (they heel pricked my little dd1 and gave her one tube feed to stabilise her at about 2 hrs old) then you can choose to lowcarb or not! I guess they'll palpate you and thoroughly check while you're in for your steroids and can let you know is she's moved down any. Just thought, when dp had steroids into his back he couldn't sleep for 3 days, maybe they have the same affect on you, hence being up in the night? Again, just a day to go.

Hung out laundry, the drizzle started as I did so, but I figured it's more windy than rainy, so hopefully it will dry. Spag bol sauce cooking now, and just doing some crochet.

Will check out the lidl fur blankets thanks fluffy my dd's love a new christmas blanket, I got dd1 a fur one for her birthday last year, she really likes it. The heated one looks epic, my cat would live on that. If I don't ask for specific things I end up with random stuff I don't want. I usually buy my own presents now. Surprises have always made me feel anxious!

Cagliostro · 21/10/2017 17:30

Funnily enough lonely today's midwife mentioned being wired and unable to sleep as a side effect! So I will be less annoyed if it happens again tonight.

Didn't feel my tummy but she did say something which really surprised me - that she wouldn't expect baby to be low down yet in subsequent pregnancies anyway! I'd have thought it was the other way round but she was very reassuring and said that even if she's not dropped yet it's nothing to be worried about. :)

Loveabaconsandwich · 21/10/2017 17:31

Quiet day here. Got up 5.30am with DD2 and I had awful cold. Dosed up on lemsip and tea and then handed the DC to DP while I went back to bed.

Checked through our stash of toys for DC for Christmas. Just a dolly for DD2 to get and we are done. DP kept bringing out more boxes of Lego he bought, he appears to have a habit.

We need to start buying for everyone else.

Went back to sleep this afternoon. Think i’m just worn out and relaxed now I have a few days off so caught up with me

Subsequent babies often don’t engage until labour.

ememem84 · 21/10/2017 17:37

I was feeling uncomfortable initially cag then starts having what I thought were BH...and then felt so so sick and had a really funny tummy. Kept needing the toilet 💩 on one toilet trip my waters broke on the way to the bathroom. Fun.

Apparently your body erm “clears out” in preparation for labour. Once waters broke we went to the hospital and I was checked. Midwife said she couldn’t see my cervix. I was annoyed and disappointed. Thinking she meant that we weren’t there...turns out she meant that we were fully dilated and ready for the out!

Frazzled74 · 21/10/2017 17:42

Just trying to catch up with this thread. Congratulations to those who have lovely new babies.I have an expensive month ahead, lots of birthdays, have also not bought a single present or put any money aside, I also want to put down a deposit for next years holiday. So to avoid putting any of Christmas on a credit card, my plan is to spend only £50 per week on groceries and to live a super frugal existence for the next 2 months.
Today , I made £10 by mystery shopping and £7 matched betting. I succumbed to a sparks deal in M&S though : smoked salmon, eggs and prosecco for £10. DH is out tonight so looking forward to a nice bubble bath and a luxury meal for one.poached or scrambled eggs, decisions! Has anybody successfully made their own wine before? was wondering if it would be worth it for Christmas?

Fluffycloudland77 · 21/10/2017 17:55

There's loads of kits on the market for wine. Wilko do a good range & the equipment comes up on eBay.

I'm going to do beer when I've got the funds together.

www.wilko.com/wine-homebrew-kits/wilko-cabernet-sauvignon-wine-starter-kit-makes-6-bottles/invt/0318391

£20. It would be rude not to.

SunnyLikeThursday · 21/10/2017 18:23

I did you all proud at my exhibition today. I came home with a 3D printed trophy. SmileSmileSmileSmileSmileSmile

Haven't had a chance to read back yet but will once I've caught up with myself.

Phew! Long day.

Fluffycloudland77 · 21/10/2017 18:26

Congratulations!

Well done. It's always nice when work is recognised.

lifelongfrugaleer · 21/10/2017 18:29

Spendy day on food and bits from matalan.
£40 hair cut.
Wind and rain now here to.
£5 hospital parking for dh.
Need doesn't always get PM's either as she uses the app.

Cagliostro · 21/10/2017 18:30

Yay sunny bloody well done!!! ⭐️️ How cool is that :o

Wow em that all happened very fast! I think I remember you saying something about cabbage that morning making your tummy bad and then we didn't hear from you again until after he'd arrived. I think it's fair to say the cabbage wasn't to blame :o 💩

ChristmasSeacow · 21/10/2017 18:52

I had the same Em 💩.

Fluffy if you get that for Christmas you'll not want to get up of an evening to go to the chilly loo. maybe DH can get you a She Wee too Wink

Lilly thanks for your kind words about DS - I am learning all the time! I don't blame you for being Envy about the dishwasher. I expect it was the torn off Manila envelope bit taped over the number display that did it Grin

Well done Sunny, glad it went well.

£54 on haircut (London, innit). I have never been so curly, I am getting flashbacks to the 1980s. Not sure how I feel about it - I suppose it's better than my outgrown frizzy layers but I feel a bit noticeably 'different' to before which makes me nervous! Everyone I know will comment Blush though I am still waiting for DH to react

lifelongfrugaleer · 21/10/2017 18:56

Well done sunny

ememem84 · 21/10/2017 19:02

sunny good work!! 👍🏻

cag yep! Haha cabbage was not to blame...! But how was I meant to know...?! Haha! We had been to watch the super triathalon the day before so maybe it was the thought of hardcore exercise that brought it on...!

Fish katsu for dinner. Mmmm. And a beer. Yay!

Now watching strictly.

Fluffycloudland77 · 21/10/2017 19:09

Sea Inco pads are where it's at.

The heating does go on Grin

There's a matching cushion. Also heated.

CollieBobs · 21/10/2017 19:30

sunny well done!!

The weather has been a frugal fail here. Lots of smashed big heavy plant pots, a fence panel and a washing line needs replacing. Pah! Probably won't bother replacing (apart from the fence panel) until Spring as we're likely to have more ferocious Atlantic loveliness this Winter.

Frazzled74 · 21/10/2017 19:58

Thanks fluffy, that wine kit could be an investment. Fish Katsu sounds lovely em.
