Proper torrential rain all night here. The velley we drive through to civilisation was flooded over the road this morning. And I've got to go shopping as we're out of basics like milk ffs not enough for a coffee

Got a full nights sleep, but it felt like about 20 minutes.

sunny thats so cool about what you're up to. Public speaking is just terrifying to me, so kudos that you 1. Ever did it, and 2. Feel up to getting back to it. I'm starting to feel more like 'me' again after 15 years of parenting. It's just so alien after having a great carrer to just be at home with a pink thing that no one has given you instructions for. I decided that my 40's would be a bit more for me.

mammymammyIRL · 11/10/2017 09:09

Onion from garden, end of a tub of gravy granules. Stuffing will be made from own potatoes and breadcrumbs from ends of sliced pans in freezer & our own onions & ends of jars of herbs -- frugal dinner €10.99 for the meat but will do a few days Grin

But best thing is slow cooker made it lovely and moist overnight & then I just quickly browned it in oven this morning

Looks great mammy I think I prefer turkey to chicken sometimes (I buy legs and slow cook). Thanks for reminding me to put gravy granules on my list!

Hmmph. Well, enforced frugality today, we were supposed to all go down to a coastal town with DH to have a swim and then we would hang out while he has his interview and meet after. But the pool isn't open until later and there's not much for me and the Caglets to do (even checked cinema listings). So a bit pointless really as it's not warm enough to go to the beach either. The museum is nice, but not 3 hours nice :o so looks like we will stay home. At least DH doesn't have to leave until later so we have a bit of time together, and it's an in-company interview so it's basically a paid morning off :o

Might take Caglets into town later though - need a few storage bits anyway.

Expensive Tesco shop arrived, apparently they had absolutely no fabric conditioner Hmm

SunnyLikeThursday · 11/10/2017 09:32

Thanks Lonely, it's really nice that you think my public speaking is cool. :-) It's really odd, but when I struggled with anxiety after weaning and tried using meditation to control it, my meditation "safe place" was standing on stage in front of 100 people. It doesn't quite make sense that, but for a funny scientist, a scientist audience can be a really soothing thing. At this exhibition I'm only sitting behind a table nattering fortunately, and if it all goes wrong, I can just walk home, which does make things easier. Smile

I know exactly what you mean about the transition from career to motherhood and back. It's an odd business.

Fluffycloudland77 · 11/10/2017 09:41

Cag I would complain about that to the CEO. That's just Tesco being lazy. There's a whole fucking aisle of fabric softener, you pay them to deliver your groceries because you can't get there yourself & they make you go out again. [email protected]

In the meantime water some hair conditioner down, works just as well.

Fluffycloudland77 · 11/10/2017 09:42

Ooh ignore the link. [email protected]

Cagliostro · 11/10/2017 10:19

I might just do that fluffy! I wondered if it was because I ordered the cheapest so they didn't want to give me something more expensive :o

Might go to the retail park later for storage stuff and they have a B&M there which I heard is really good

Fluffycloudland77 · 11/10/2017 10:26

That's precisely it. Never mind keeping a loyal customer happy.

ChristmasSeacow · 11/10/2017 11:07

£799 on dishwasher incl. installation/ removal of old one. I stuck with the Miele so 2-3 weeks to wait. I'm pleased I've actually sorted it though.

Fluffycloudland77 · 11/10/2017 11:26

It might not take that long.

www.savewatersavemoney.co.uk/products/view/38494/combi-smart.html Gas & water saving device. It's £40 but saves £100 a year or so. You need a gas safe fitter too but from the reviews people are doing it themselves.

ememem84 · 11/10/2017 12:48

Sigh. Ds is suffering from trapped wind. Any tips oh wise ones? I’ve tried feeding him more upright, keeping him upright after a feed for as long as poss. Burping over my shoulder, over my lap, sat up. Have massages his tummy. Have lifted his left arm and massaged under it (friend told me this one...)

Google says maybe colic so grab infacol. Dh this morning said nope. No need. His other gem today was sleep while he’s sleeping. Just get a nap in (ds hasn’t settled since before 4 am --could have throttled him - dh not ds

One of the girls dh works with suggested infacol. And was going to boots anyway so has bought some for dh to bring home. Amazing idea dh!!! Aaaah!!!

so this is what sleep deprivation does. Hoorah.

sunny I coukdnt think of anything worse than public speaking. Can’t do it. Even if I know my stuff I get super nervous and clam up. I’m usually fairly confident but pop me on stage in front of a load of people (even if I know them) and nope.

Heading out in a bit. Or at least going to try. Going with dm to meet my “auntie” (one of her oldest friends) for a walk and a cuppa. Am hoping the pram movement will settle dh.

LonelyOversharer · 11/10/2017 12:51

Thanks for that link fluffy I'll show that to dp. We have the right sort of boiler, and he's my repair man.

Spent £135 Shock in asda. Got advent calenders so £9 there. I also got veet for underarms as shaving my pits, in the same way I've been doing for 30 years is suddenly making me itch like mad, I've changed nothing at all, so that was pricey at £6, but worth it if it stops me being irritated. Rest was food.

£16 in homebase on my "fire brick" project, nuts and bolts. And £30 in argos on the cheapest jigsaw they had (we kill even good ones quickly) and archive boxes.

Crisps for lunch. Bought pasties, chips and beans for tea, cba again.

LonelyOversharer · 11/10/2017 12:57

Oh em sympathies. Just sleep when baby sleeps, was always met with a stony "you are fucking joking right?" by me. What a clever and kind lady your dh works with! Try not to murder him with the bottle of infacol. I still pace about jiggling, looks quite weird once your babies are too big (like at school) to be winded.

ememem84 · 11/10/2017 13:01

Yeah...he is now asleep but I’m going to have to change him, put his jacket and hat on, put him in the car in about 30 minutes. Proper chose his timing didn’t he!!

At any rate I’ve been able to have something to eat - fish finger sandwich (6 fish fingers...to use up the box) and a cup of tea. And a litre of water. And have got dressed. Hooray! Now just need to sort out his bag. Grab my jacket and boots. And prepare to wake the beast mummy’s little angel pet boy.

mammymammyIRL · 11/10/2017 13:09

My friends babies suffered with trapped wind and she found that certain foods she ate would set them off, so might be worth keeping a mental note of when it happens to see if there is any correlation with certain foods Em

Public speaking is my idea of hell Grin I am better than I used to be and quite often lead meetings at work etc but the thought of standing up in front of people and talking brings me out in a cold sweat.

Took dd to an appointment with the asthma nurse this morning, was hoping she would say that dd doesn't have asthma anymore and it was just a post chest infection blip but sadly that doesn't appear to be the case. She now has two inhalers and has to puff one of them twice a day to see if that improves her lung capacity Sad

In happier news am going to see the little dog I mentioned this afternoon, need to write a list of questions to ask but if all goes well will hopefully have her for a trial over half term!!

Fluffycloudland77 · 11/10/2017 14:49

NSD & I got £5 off erewards for dhs account.

Lonely I've never seen one before either.

Wilko are doing a home brew kit for £30. I'm thinking of saving my valued opinions up for one.

lifelongfrugaleer · 11/10/2017 15:10

Nsd.
Massage tummy from left to right as that follows the digestive tract. Also gentle by cycle of the legs is supposed to work.
Infacol is a build up think so you need to persevere with it and give it regularly if I remember right

Fluffycloudland77 · 11/10/2017 15:17

£5 nectar received from erewards for my account & £5 in from gfk for a monitoring thingy on the laptop.

needastrongone · 11/10/2017 15:35

Sorry, lost track of the thread as I have worked extra hours.

Cheers for the link Fluffy. I've a combi boiler.

Fabulous news Meadow Spotting is normal, sometimes it's the embryo embedding itself. You might get some when your period is due too as the hormone levels increase in your body. Em is right, don't sweat the small stuff and certainly don't go down the 'what if' route.

£16 on some photos. That's it for today.

needastrongone · 11/10/2017 15:36

Sunny Speaking in public and leading a Beaver session. Big kudos.

Fluffycloudland77 · 11/10/2017 15:56

I have a condensing boiler Sad

You can turn down the water temperature down on combis, 55c is enough but factory set is as high as 70c.

WreckTangled · 11/10/2017 16:00

Ooo tricky one em. Someone once told me breastfed babies shouldn't get wind if they have a proper latch Hmm ds was proof against that. Not sure what to suggest, obviously you can try all these things but sometimes the only answer is time.

Manager approved my change of hours woop. So busy at work the next six weeks or so (minus half term!)

£8 something in Aldi. Needed dw tabs and a few other bits. I though I'd try their £3 mascara as I've run out and can't afford my usual.

Laska5772 · 11/10/2017 16:02

Ooo Ooo , have to share... Dh has just told me that he is taking me to Florence in Dec for my big birthday !!! So excited! I've never been but always wanted to
