Cheers, I'm not sure where the temperature gauge is, so I'll dig out the instructions.

Just made fruity flapjack. Trying not to buy sweets and rubbish. I'm not sure whether it's actually a frugal move or not though but I guess I know what is going into our bodies.

Fluffycloudland77 · 11/10/2017 16:16

That will be lovely Laska, I imagine it's beyond beautiful there.

needastrongone · 11/10/2017 16:16

Oh wow Laska, that's fabulous. Lucky you and brownie points to Mr Laska!

Laska5772 · 11/10/2017 16:23

Yep.
I reckon I nabbed a good'un there ( not that id tell him that Wink) . . Anyone been?

lifelongfrugaleer · 11/10/2017 16:37

Laska that's fab.

Breastfed babies indeed get more wind of they are not latched on correctly as they are gulping air too. However if mum eats certain food such as cabbage, beans and broccoli that can transfer and make baby windy. Tis witchcraft imo. Anyway. Whatever fits gives you wind can give baby wind

WreckTangled · 11/10/2017 17:05

Wow laska how exciting!

mammymammyIRL · 11/10/2017 17:10

laska that's so exciting Grin

SnugglySnerd · 11/10/2017 17:11

Yes I've been to Florence Laska. You'll love it. It's worth planning what you want to do in advance or you can waste a lot of time trying to choose what to see next. What a lovely birthday treat.

Lovely blustery day today. Couldn't be bothered going out in car so went out crunching in autumn leaves instead which also made it an NSD. Hooray!

I'm going to leave work on time for a change - everything's done except for locking up Hmm

Fluffycloudland77 · 11/10/2017 17:14

Boots baby event has started.

ememem84 · 11/10/2017 17:53

laksa we went last year. Absolutely stunning. Make sure you visit the market and do the bus tour. We did a round the city one and a out into the country one.

Make sure you buy biscotti and cannoli. Mmm. And gelato.

And go to the palace and go up the tower. You get amazing views of the cathedral.

I loved it and would go back again and again. Also make sure you to to the ufitzi gallery.

Wow Laska lucky girl!

So have been to meet the little dog, the rescue lady has 24 dogs atm Shock all small breeds and it looks like we are going to try a different dog to the one originally suggested. This dog sort of 'chose' me Grin She was in my arms the min I walked in, very lively and full of character. She is younger though only a year old, anyway going to have her for a trial over half term and see.....

ememem84 · 11/10/2017 17:57

Oooh fluffy baby event. Do you get to switch baby for a quiet sleeping one? Haha jokes!!

Am venturing into town tomorrow to show ds off to work. So will pop into boots.

Re the wind. Two different midwives told me that you do and don’t need to wind breastfed babies. We have introduced formula. But only one bottle. So this may be the cause. But will have a look at my diet too.

It seems odd that it’s started as we’ve introduced the one bottle a day. Too much of a coincidence to be anything else.

We’ve been for a walk today. 4km. Yay. Ds was settled enough with dms friend. Well he cried and moaned but she took him and snuggled him. And he quietened down. I invited her to come and live with us forever

WreckTangled · 11/10/2017 18:13

I think, and I'm not saying this in an anti ff way (I ff dd from a week and ds had some from 7months), it's worth remembering that babies aren't designed to have formula in their tummy and it's much harder for them to digest. He still has such a tiny tummy (the size of a large egg about the 100ml capacity) so it could well be that making him struggle.

I bought a bar of soap and ds is amazed. He keeps saying 'so this is actually soap? Has it got soap in it? You mean the whole thing is just soap?' 😂🤦🏽‍♀️

Laska5772 · 11/10/2017 18:17

Ooh Em our hotel it looks posh is on the river right next to that bridge!.
Bus tour wow.. have you details? I am here trying to set up new pc.. Confused

Laska5772 · 11/10/2017 18:21

Girlie my cat did the same at the rescue centre. He leapt into my arms and head bumped my face.. love at first sight and hes been a really lovely cat .. they choose you..

LonelyOversharer · 11/10/2017 19:25

Maybe leave the formula for a day or two em see if ds settles down. You sound like you both took to bf pretty easily, why screw with it? Especially if ds is in pain.

I know I was lucky enough to bf all of mine it was hell with dd1 for 3 months, I bled at each feed tmi and it sounds wanky to anyone who hasn't managed or made other choices, but his little body is designed to process your milk perfectly, it's an ideal set up.

WreckTangled · 11/10/2017 19:35

Lonely we had that for dinner too! With gravy and veg BlushGrin

Girliefriendlikesflowers · 11/10/2017 19:38

Yeah thats what I think Laska my only reservation is that this dog has always lived with lots of other dogs so may not cope in an only dog household, also apparently this breed can be tricky to toilet train.... will see how we go. Like the lady said if she isn't the right dog there are 23 others to try Grin

Em dd struggled to digest formula, I think we switched brands which helped a bit but tbh your ds is so little i would leave it a bit and see how he goes.

Dd has gone out tonight Shock she organised meeting a friend, buying tickets for a show and was even going to walk to the theatre (I insisted I drove her as it was getting dark!) suddenly turned into Miss Independent!!

ememem84 · 11/10/2017 19:41

laksa that bridge is the ponte Vecchio. Well worth a walk over. It’s beautiful.

There are so many beautiful restaurants too. The best one we found was actually a cafe/deli. We walked past it on the way to a pizza place (which was full so we made a reservation for the next night) and on the way back popped in. Menu was only in Italian. I pointed to the next table then to the menu the waitress nodded and I ordered a couple of beers. This is what we ended up with.

The bus tour is the big red bus. You won’t be able to miss it. Pick up a leaflet from the train station. Or your hotel should have one. I’m pretty sure it was €40 pp.

wreck I’m thinking it must have something to do with the formula. Midwife said it could affect his digestion and it could take a while for him to get used to it.

We tried the infacol. Had some wicked orange smelling burps. Haha!!

MeadowHay · 11/10/2017 19:51

Thanks everyone. Receptionist gave me a receipt as I did explain I wanted to claim it back but she just gave me like a printed receipt, not sure if it's enough to claim it back through NHS but I have this healthcare cash back thing through work so I can claim it back through there probably anyway. I need a filling but she said she can't give me anaesthetic during first trimester so I need to go back in about 6 months to get it done Sad. I have only ever had one teeny tiny filling that was not really my fault as it was mostly due to a wisdom tooth growing funny so now I feel disappointed in myself plus it's a bit grim to think the decay is just going to get worse over the next 6 months too Confused. On the plus side I had early stage gum disease last time I went (6 months ago) and that's all fine now thanks to my improved brushing & inter-dental brushing, so that's a relief.

Spends were £40ish pound for me and DH's dental check-ups - but I should be able to claim my £20ish back - and then 90p on a flapjack at lunch in my work canteen.

Laska I've been to Florence. When I was about 2 so I don't remember it Grin. It looks beautiful though and my parents thought it was lovely. That is really sweet of Mr Laska!

Em Oh dear, hope DS's wind soon improves!

Girlie What breed of dog is the one you are having for a trial? How exciting Grin. I need to get back on Borrow My Doggy and find a local dog to walk again.

WreckTangled · 11/10/2017 19:52

Meadow just to warn you it can be common for your gums to bleed in pregnancy.

It's so windy here! I'm really cold again too. Might go to bed Grin

lifelongfrugaleer · 11/10/2017 19:57

Could be em. Roll don't shake the bottle so you don't introduce more air. I believe that's the advice. Some times of the bottle runs to fast they can inhale air, or it fills with air as they breath. You can see it in the milk. Defo wind after bottle.
I don't think there is any hard and fast evidence for winding or not bf children. It's what works for the child

LonelyOversharer · 11/10/2017 20:02

Ooh eat well for less just starting on bbc1, one I've not seen.

WreckTangled · 11/10/2017 20:08

Oh yes there's new advice on bottle feeding. You swirl don't shake and then you let them have a bit then remove the test and let it just sit on their lips until they take it back in so they're not downing the whole bottle. It's all very interesting.
