Collie pretty sure you can only spend your points on something up to their value or less

bangbangprettypretty · 02/09/2015 12:44

Hi all, I'd love to re-join this brilliant thread - I spent months on here last year after getting into a really sticky place. We moved house to somewhere smaller to help us.

Happy to say that after YNABing my heart out, we're out of debt!

I know this next year is going to be a killer so I'm back onto my moneysaving ways.

bangbangprettypretty · 02/09/2015 12:45

Oh I was under a different username too btw!

TheOnlyPink · 02/09/2015 12:49

collie in roi you can only use points if it covers the full total, but hopefully someone from the UK can confirm!

peppa cath kidston Christmas organiser hopefully that doesn't show me logged in!

Whatabout · 02/09/2015 12:51

Collie it's equal or lesser value you can't part pay.

Collieputthekettleon · 02/09/2015 12:56

Excellent! Thanks all for confirming. I'm pretty surprised that I have such a good balance already. I rarely use it! Blush Must start to collect the points because I could use it in November on a birthday present.

Collieputthekettleon · 02/09/2015 12:57

bangbang welcome back!

ipsos · 02/09/2015 13:03

Well done bangbang.

We've had a good morning today. I returned some mail order clothes that didn't fit, and got a third pair of school shoes. Then we bumped into several of ds's school friends at the park, which helped a lot with the anticipation of starting back tomorrow.

Badders123 · 02/09/2015 13:21

I am still waiting on a refund of £20 from a company.
Still not gone in ????
Am looking at cheaper car ins and think I can get it down to £12 per month!
Just need to look into a cheaper mobile deal now.

peppansalt · 02/09/2015 13:37

thanks Pink - love it!! Just need to find £10.50 from somewhere Sad

Fluffycloudland77 · 02/09/2015 14:17

Any chance you can pay in one go Badders? the insurance companies make a lot on people paying in installments.

Badders123 · 02/09/2015 14:21

No....:( I pay my tax monthly too.
One company doesn't make any extra charge for monthly payments so I will probably go with them.

Fluffycloudland77 · 02/09/2015 14:30

Good idea. I don't think they should be allowed to profit from installments. Moneysavingexpert.com were talking about this in their email.

I did a quote for mine this morning and it was 23% APR! to pay monthly.

Are you getting cash back too?

Collieputthekettleon · 02/09/2015 15:00

23% APR! I had no idea it was that much. Blush the greedy twats

Fluffycloudland77 · 02/09/2015 15:06

That's not the highest I've seen, when I did the house insurance last month I saw 35%APR for installments.

Dh can't afford to pay in one go so he pays in installments.

QforCucumber · 02/09/2015 15:13

Some are crazy on installments - last year I had a 0% on purchases offer on a credit card so paid my insurances with that and then paid it back at the same rate it would have been monthly as that's what I'd budgeted for, just to avoid that bloody Apr charge.

Collieputthekettleon · 02/09/2015 15:37

That is such a good idea! It's almost time for renewing car insurance so definitely something to think about.

Pointlessfan · 02/09/2015 16:06

That's a brilliant idea with insurance and 0% credit cards!
I had a fairly cheap outing with my friend. £10 lunch and £3.50 parking. I also spent £5 in the charity shop on 3 books, two I've wanted to read for ages and one my friend recommended. I'm pleased with myself actually because I nearly bought those books new on several occasions and kept resisting, finding them in the charity shop was my reward for holding out!!

Evening.

bangbang Well done for turning the debt around, a fabulous achievement. Welcome back.

Frantically trying to think of someone who I might be able to give the Christmas organiser to, and failing!

Just within our daily budget for Sorrento. We ate out this lunchtime, we all had various types of seafood (grilled cuttlefish, octopus, calamari), as salads. I have missed Italian food, it's so 'clean' and healthy. Lots of balsamic vinegar and olive oil, fresh bread etc. Filling, but eat so little really.

Bought lots of water to keep in the room as it's 3 euros from the mini bar!!

I bought a bottle of limoncello badders, and sampled some, yum!

Meal planning for next week while I have time

Mousaka (sp), trying for the first time cooking this!
Pasta bake
Frittta
Chicken salad and nachos.
Creamy pork, grilled vegetables.

£10 on a book of Iranian cooking for DB, who has his birthday this week and loves cooking and unusual cuisine.

fuzzpig · 02/09/2015 17:15

This thread is totally running away with itself! :o I'm missing stuff all over the place.

Wheely thank you, I'm over the worst this time but it's the Groundhog Day nature of it that's really getting to me, yk? I can't actually imagine ever being able to properly manage work because even in my good phases, everything is a struggle when I have to work. But I actually do love my job.

I spent waaaay too much in Morrisons today. Totally negating the idea that it was pointless ordering a Tesco delivery because I wouldn't spend the minimum £40... Blush although I wouldn't have been able to get what we needed for tonight I guess. I suppose Oh well, at least I got a free Big Hero 6 card game!? Anyway, it really showed how bad it is to shop when you aren't feeling great, it just makes for mindless buying. I'd spent the previous hour talking about mental health issues (might be doing a free course about it) and I wouldn't use the word 'trigger' but I felt really wobbly after IYSWIM.

PeoniesforMissAnnersley · 02/09/2015 17:17

Do the TV licence people charge more for monthly? I thought it was just the same amount divided?

In denial about holidays being over Grin

babsmam · 02/09/2015 17:31

Needa could santa bring you an organiser? He may well be bringing me one in 3-5 working days.

Whoever said about the dress and no receipt. Ask anyway in tesco if it's still got the tags on. I've done it in sainsbury before, maybe different shops may have different policy, and I asked nicely being quite apologetic about my seive head and they refunded onto a gift card. You get the current till price but worth a shot. I did it in tesco too but it was year ago.

574ejones · 02/09/2015 17:33

NSD again today.

Sounds like you are having a lovely time Need.

babsmam · 02/09/2015 17:35

Pees me off being charged monthly Apr fir breaking down policies. It perpetuates the cycle of poverty when it should not be allowed.
Welcome back bang bang
