lilacclery · 02/09/2015 17:55

Sorry to hear of everyone feeling unwell too ((hugs))

ipsos I'm two chapters into wheatbelly & it makes sense. Going to read book before actioning it though. Anyone on my fitness pal? Started last week & 4lbs down has really reduced my quantity of food

Pointlessfan · 02/09/2015 18:00

That was me with the Tesco dress, it's worth asking isn't it??

Ememem84 · 02/09/2015 18:14

£12 on fruit at m&s but I used a voucher so it doesn't really count right?

Left phone at home today (on purpose) - trying to be more "at one with the world" and figured that I didn't need my phone. If I had an emergency I could call from work. If family had emergency they know my work number.

Life still happened. I went out at lunch and sat by the sea. And just watched the world go by. I never do that. Smile also technically saved money on mobile data usage

Ememem84 · 02/09/2015 18:15

Spicy Thai basil mince and brown rice for dinner. From freezer. Slowly crossing things off freezer list.

babsmam · 02/09/2015 18:15

Sorry pointless I lose track. Certainly is next time you are in. A couple of quid is better than it loitering in a cupboard.

ipsos · 02/09/2015 18:16

I'm glad that's of interest lila. I actually had a look at the hormone one too and it made a lot of sense in my current situation. I hope the book goes well for you.

AdoraBell · 02/09/2015 18:23

£65 on blazers and ties from the school shop. Suppliers haven't even dispatched my order and school starts tomorrow. Apparently lots of others haven't received their orders either.

fishfortea · 02/09/2015 18:51

Evening everyone - after a favour, I'm not sure if I dreamt this or actually read it (think I read it on this corner of the site!!) Can you freeze chip shop chips? If so how did you do it? My DC think I am going mad.

Thanks in advance

Ursulatodd · 02/09/2015 18:58

adora I work in a school and we're waiting on an order of tables, chairs and exercise books Confused !

pointless definitely take the dress back! I think they'll give you a credit note.

em your dinner sounds delicious!

My ear is much better today. I spent the evening lying on a hot water bottle! £1 spent today on a couple of second hand pinafores for DD. I took a huge bag of old clothes to a C4C and got £8.50 so for the second day in a row I'm in profit!

babsmam · 02/09/2015 19:02

Fishfor you didn't dream it. I remember someone saying that.

Sorry everyone I appear to be forgetting who said what at the minute

fishfortea · 02/09/2015 19:06

Phew, glad I'm not going mad. After I posted it I wondered if I had read about the chips in a magazine!

Collieputthekettleon · 02/09/2015 19:40

I've been making birthday cards as I have so many bdays coming up. They look quite nice for an afternoons effort. Grin I have made 5. So I think I've saved at least £5.

Stuff on eBay has totalled £20 collectively and we have 4 days left on the auctions so I'm really pleased!

Had slow cooked veggie chilli for tea. So goood

ohhelpohnoitsa · 02/09/2015 19:52

It was me with the chips. All our l9cal chippies seem to think you need 2000 chips in a small portion! Lay them on a baking tray and open freeze them once frozen, shove in a bag. To reheat i think i did about 20 mins on 200 degrees. It works !

Pointlessfan · 02/09/2015 19:53

Pleased you are feeling better ursula. I can't remember whose tip it was with the chips either but I tried it and they were awesome reheated, after all Heston cooks his three times!!
I've done 2 loads of washing using the Asda basics washing powder that I bought as an experiment and the washing looks and smells amazing. Providing none of us is allergic it will be a permanent switch.
Does anyone use own brand shampoo or conditioner and is it any good?

fishfortea · 02/09/2015 20:01

Thank you ohhelp will give it a go.

peppansalt · 02/09/2015 20:29

Collie, how do you make the birthday cards?

ohhelpohnoitsa · 02/09/2015 20:30

I had a bit of a frugal windfall today. Had sime fiends over for a buffet type lunch. I providdd the bulk if it but everyone else bought something too. I am pretty sure U have ended up wirh more than U actually bought myself and that is after various people took various bits home! Win win Smile (though used lots of red label teabags!!!)

ohhelpohnoitsa · 02/09/2015 20:37

emenem I am with you on the phone thing. I am even considering buying a basic phone to un-addict myself from this smart phone. (It might also mean I make fewer typos if I use an actual computerGrin)

ipsos · 02/09/2015 20:54

emenem and ohhelp I don't have data on my phone, I just have phone calls and texts, and tbh, not many of those either. I do all my internet stuff on a laptop. It's really fine. I think I spend too much time staring at the internet when I'm at home anyway. At least this way when I go out, I am removed from it, which I think is healthy.

ds starts school today. We're both shaking in our shoes, but going in with a positive attitude and several fingers crossed.

ipsos · 02/09/2015 20:54

I mean he starts school tomorrow. D'oh!

Laska42 · 02/09/2015 21:00

EekShock you go away for a few days and the September thread is 28 pages already!! Do I predict three threads this month? Wink

Anyway far too many pages to read back..and answer .. looks like some more frugaleers have joined us , which is great ,

I'm not going to be around much this week either, as have visitors ( and at this rate ill be seeing you on a new thread next week ..) but just did my YNAB and last month turned out £2.62 in hand and £200 more in savings account ! ( hey not bad for someone who was in debt a while ago eh?) and its looking fine for this month..(fingers crossed)

off to do a bit of reading back now!!

ipsos · 02/09/2015 21:01

Good to see you Laska. I've lost track a bit too.Smile

ipsos · 02/09/2015 21:05

I had a wee personal success this week. I wrote a blog post (which is what I do to cheer the day along without spending money) and 80 people clicked on it. I've only had 50 as a really unusual maximum before so that was quite exciting. It happened because I posted the link on Pistonheads and the AVForum. I was quite chuffed about that. :-)

Girlfriend36 · 02/09/2015 21:19

Struggling to keep up with thread!

Hope poorly frugaleers feel better soon Flowers

Just realised today was a nsd although owe the babysitter £25 for looking after dd, a bargain for 9 hours childcare Grin she is only 15 though so looked very happy with £25!

Sold some more of dds clothes and made £23 pleased with that (will pay the babysitter!) although realised I also need £20 for dds school trip plus £15 for dds horse riding lesson on Sat! Kids get so much more expensive as they get older don't they?!

Need to sort out some meal plans as have been blagging it the last few days and as a result eaten rubbish Hmm

Polished up dds schools shoes, didn't buy new ones as they still fit her and were only 3 months old or so. They have come up nearly as good as new, did my work shoes while I was at it and likewise they came up lovely! I think polishing shoes is under rated Grin
