Will give GP a ring this morning, thanks Collie

Peppa if you Google SkinnyM and then put in the search terms 'quinoa meatless meatballs' it'll bring the recipe up. Haven't tried it myself yet, but a friend loves it. They're on my meal plan this month to try.

Collieputthekettleon · 02/09/2015 07:58

Veggie mince chilli con carne.
Jacket potato with leftover chilli or spag Bol.
Veggie mince or vegetable curry with naans
Veggie spag Bol (you can add pancetta for the meaty people)
Sausage and mash or toad in hole. (Meat sausages cooked seperately from veggie ones)
Veggie sausage casserole
Veggie burgers, chips & beans
Sausage/nut cutlet roast
Falafel, pitta & feta Greek salad.

We eat mostly veggie. :)

wheelycote · 02/09/2015 07:58

peppa just double checked....here's web address...
m.skinnyms.com/

There's a quite a few good meals on there

SpottyTeacakes · 02/09/2015 07:59

I bloody love falafel. That's going on the meal plan for next week.

Collieputthekettleon · 02/09/2015 08:00

Serve your dish up first. Then add pancetta, chorizo or cooked chicken to the main dish for the family. Smile

Collieputthekettleon · 02/09/2015 08:01

Me too spotty!

Collieputthekettleon · 02/09/2015 08:13

mushroom risotto. Serve yours up then add bacon or pancetta to everybody else's. :)

peppansalt · 02/09/2015 08:14

Wheely. def get to the GP. I also get random attacks of cystitis and keep a bottle of potassium citrate (?) in the house. It is much cheaper than over the counter sachets and lasts longer. You dilute 10 ml (I think) in a glass of warm water and get it down your neck hold your nose cos it tastes like devils puke. does the job for me Smile. Pharmacies sell it.

thanks also Wheely and Collie for meal ideas. Think I have just become lazy by giving DCs whatever is quick, easy and in the freezer for after school dinners. Not to mention I secretly like eating my dinner in peace, and not at a monkeys tea party!
I will strive to make more of an effort and endeavour to eat more as a family at one sitting (opposed to the non-stop café this house has become). I also need to get DCs to eat more veggie meals - again laziness that I have assumed they wont like many of the vegetarian options.

ipsos · 02/09/2015 08:30

Peppa I totally understand your situation. I make my own meal first because I do a better job of the other cooking if I am not ravenous myself. It's tricky though. I'd love to hear what you do. I am in the same situation.

ipsos · 02/09/2015 08:33

peppa I love the medical tips on here. Smile So much better than the things GPs are allowed to tell us. Grin

Pointlessfan · 02/09/2015 09:51

peppa I'm also the only veggie in the house, DH eats what I eat almost all the time but usually does himself a Sunday roast and uses the cold meat for sandwiches in the week. If I'm out he and DD have meat. She has meat at nursery and we have fish fingers in the freezer but I can't be doing with cooking lots of separate things.
Just did a reckie of what I've wasted money on this summer and it's not too bad compared with past years:
A sunblock for lips, unused due to lack of sun, at least I can use it next year.
Shorts which I've worn about twice buy I was glad of them on those hot days and I can wear them next year too.
Dress from Tesco which I bought without trying on. It's miles too big and I've lost the receipt so that was a waste of ten quid!
Meeting one of my oldest and dearest friends today, haven't seen her for ages. I expect we'll have lunch out.

peppansalt · 02/09/2015 10:55

Thanks for all the meal tips.

Just been sorting out DCs stuff for school and what with PE and forest school I just don't have enough bags for their gear (and the ones I do have aren't big enough).

Anyone have any ideas on where I can buy large personalised sports/swim bags from that don't cost a fortune

Collieputthekettleon · 02/09/2015 10:59

Emergency trip to the GP and I just spent £8 something for meds.

peppansalt · 02/09/2015 11:02

Was it for Ab's Collie?

TheOnlyPink · 02/09/2015 11:04

Missed pages since I was on yesterday! I miss the app Sad

ipsos aldi have duvets tomorrow. The king size is £12, so might be worth a look if you need one!

Nsd today. I'm really enjoying the dcs being at school. Have the whole downstairs spotless and did a big cull of any broken rubbishy toys that seem to build. Have taken out my cath kidston Christmas organiser now, to read back over last Christmas and start making some plans! Love it! Grin

TheOnlyPink · 02/09/2015 11:05

Aw collie, hope everything is ok! Flowers

Whatabout · 02/09/2015 11:18

Christmas organiser? Is it one you created or does it come with sections in?

Whatabout · 02/09/2015 11:22

Hope the antibiotics kick in quick collie! You remind me I need to stock up on my painkillers whilst I'm on mat exemption, prescription charges hurt.

Today in my slow cooker I have chicken thighs with a tin of veg soup (best before April, it'll be ok right?) chipped carrot / onion / celery and some squash. I've chucked in some water, seasoning and shaosing wine so hoping it'll be ok. I might finish it with some bacon. It's enough for lots of people but hopeful DH will eat a lot!

DS has had another foot growth spurt so I think we will be off to Clarke to get his feet measured and pick up some sturdier shoes for the coming season. He's got doodles at the moment that felt very over priced and are trashed so no point keeping them for sibling or selling. He's only two so I like to buy proper shoes that have been fitted but I'm wondering if that is the best course of action.

Collieputthekettleon · 02/09/2015 11:34

No it was for stronger painkillers :( my autoimmune disorder has flared up. Also been booked in for more blood tests to check inflammation levels. Ughhh!

I've been told to rest. I'm not sure I can rest. I feel like I MUST do something.Blush

Badders123 · 02/09/2015 11:38

Sorry haven't read through but aldi do very cheap otc meds...things like ranitidine for 79p!

TheOnlyPink · 02/09/2015 11:48

what its got sections, beautifully printed pages and is just generally gorgeous. This is my third Christmas using it. Amazon had them cheap in Sept 2013 so loads of people on the bargain thread got them! It's about £10 on Amazon atm, so not frugal, but I love it!

collie hope you feel better soon!! You poor thing. Do take it easy even if you can't rest!

Collieputthekettleon · 02/09/2015 12:30

Thank you :)

My Boots advantage card has £4.90 on it. Can I use that when purchasing something for £10? Or can I only redeem to the nearest £1? I don't use it often Blush

Collieputthekettleon · 02/09/2015 12:33

The Boots website says "generic error" when loading the "spending points" page. Typical Grin

ipsos · 02/09/2015 12:36

There's an article here about cutting the cost of supermarket shopping.

www.telegraph.co.uk/finance/personalfinance/household-bills/11822467/Five-tricks-to-shave-supermarket-shopping-bills-without-buying-basic.html

peppansalt · 02/09/2015 12:43

Pink... do you have a link for the organiser on amazon??
