What symptoms did you have and how long did it last for?

OP posts:
BluebellBlueballs · 25/02/2023 07:20

Day 4 and I've felt as rough as fk the last twi days but able to get out of bed to prepare simple meals fir the family answer the door etc unlike poor hubby who has got it really bad and laid up in bed with a fever.

Before any man bashing, this is not like him and we usually share the cooking pretty equal !

BluebellBlueballs · 25/02/2023 07:21

Beginning to feel slightly better today but still have a cough/ sniffles and feel exhausted. Fever and headache seem to have abated fingers crossed 🤞

gettingolderbutcooler · 25/02/2023 07:37

Exhaustion, runny nose, blocked sinuses and generally feeling unwell. Most symptoms went after 3/4 days- but the tiredness stayed for more than a week, even when testing negative.

Popfan · 25/02/2023 20:59

Tested positive yesterday, was really shivery and as I found out about someone I'd been in contact with had tested positive, did a test. Very faint line and initially thought it was negative.
Woke up this morning feeling basically fine, shivers gone, bit of a blocked up nose and slight cough, did a test as felt a bit of a fraud! Strong positive line immediately. I do feel ok and very much hoping it stays that way!

ShakespearesBlister · 25/02/2023 21:40

I had no cough at all. What I did get was a sore throat, vomitting, headaches, nausea, flu pains, temperature, fever, lethargy, aversion to bright light, blocked nose, breathing difficulty. These symptoms lasted around 4 or 5 days then I started to feel better. I'm fully vaccinated and boostered as I'm at risk.

BluebellBlueballs · 25/02/2023 23:09

I can report that my sense of smell has gone COMPLETELY. Along with my sense of taste, food tastes weirdly bland.

EatingWormsMichael · 25/02/2023 23:39

@BluebellBlueballs my taste has gone today too. Isn't it weird? Food is just texture and I can just about tell if it's something sweet. Hope it doesn't last too long cos it makes me feel sick when I'm just chewing with no flavour.

It's so strange, I remember my sense of smell mell going last time but not taste.

Food is just texture and very boring... had some feta cheese earlier which is usually quite strong tasting and it was like eating plasticine or something

Popfan · 26/02/2023 16:05

Yes my smell and taste have gone, I do have a bit of a blocked nose though. Apart from that I feel fine!

Merchdda · 27/02/2023 17:35

Just tested positive for the first time!

My symptoms have been feeling ridiculously tired and struggling to concentrate followed by aches and pains and shivers. Skin sensitive to touch with sneezing. Spent the weekend in bed feeling grotty. Totally lost my sense of taste and smell, have a blocked nose and a dry hack of a cough

BluebellBlueballs · 27/02/2023 17:39

Day 6 here and beginning to feel like I turned a corner. Still not 'well' but I've been up and out of bed most of the day and even managed to do some (socially distanced) errands although feeling quite tired now.

Still can't smell a thing although my sense of taste is beginning to return. Hopefully I won't have a long lingering recovery. Last time I bounced back after 5 days of horribleness but I know it can massively vary.

After my day of being mostly vertical, I'm off for a lie down!

GidgetGirl · 27/02/2023 18:35

Day 1 - tickly throat and the occasional sneeze - just felt like the beginnings of a normal cold

Day 2 - More of the same but a bit worse

Day 3 - Throat more obviously sore, a bit of a productive cough, and generally feeling a bit ill in the daytime. By evening I had a proper fever and was feeling really shit. Didn’t get a wink of sleep due to fever, headache and totally blocked sinuses. Did a test and it was positive.

Day 4 (today) - Really crappy and fevery, horrible cough, headache and a totally blocked nose. Feel like someone has filled my sinuses with concrete. If I didn’t have a fever it would probably just feel like a really heavy cold.

I’m fully jabbed and had Covid once before in March 2020. It feels very different to that! More snotty and upper respiratory this time - fewer bizarre symptoms and less up-and-down. Feels more like a traditional flu this time. Just wish the fever would shift, I hate it!

Muffseverywhere · 28/02/2023 00:07

First time covid for me. Positive early evening Saturday. Currently sitting up in bed because head full of ‘bunged-up-ness’ and having a bit of a pity cry. Not felt this crap in years 😔

crispinglovershighkick · 02/03/2023 19:37

I had it for the second time about three weeks ago. I was already ill at Christmas (worse than a cold, not quite flu, terrible cough, negative covid results) and hadn't fully recovered from that.

Started as a cold with painful sinuses, became feverish/fluey for a couple of days, then a productive cough and runny nose which haven't yet gone away. Smell/taste dimmed a bit and is still slightly blunted.

Am completely exhausted and suddenly depressed, though Idk if I can blame that on covid? Really dragging.

Pixie2015 · 02/03/2023 19:40

Sinus pain, sore throat, hip pains and very tired - slept for 12h straight each night - that was last week I am still totally exhausted now

BluebellBlueballs · 02/03/2023 19:55

Day 9 for me and its the first day I've felt normal. Still can't fully taste/ smell but am back to normal levels of activity. Poor DH is still suffering a week on and is very hoarse.

There does seem to be a nasty strain in circulation, not much in the press about it.

Mangolist · 05/03/2023 09:05

I have it for the second time now. First was about a year ago when I felt hideously depressed and exhausted for about 10 days.
This time I just HURT. Everything aches, I'm weak and snobby, can't sleep, worrying myself stupid about missing work and sneezing all the time. Day 4

Atissue123 · 05/03/2023 17:46

Third time for me last week. First sign was feeling ‘off’ and a bit nauseous one day but thought maybe it was hormonal, next day lost smell, following day lost taste (but didn’t feel too bad) then started with aching / mild flu like, mild congestion, headaches. Not much really compared to first two times. It was much milder. About 5 days like that (under the weather and resting lots but not bed bound) then felt better but came out in cold symptoms and sinus pain. Still got that now mildly on day 12 but feel ok again otherwise. Maybe a bit more tired than usual. Also had insomnia and back pain but that’s now gone.

Totally manageable compared to first two infections (awful) but this time only tested positive for 2 days so I think I’ve had it very mildly.

HeidiWhole · 05/03/2023 17:53

Two of us have had it here recently with the same symptoms.
Headache and feeling 'off' then fever and aching from head to toe. Taste and smell disappeared over the course of an hour or two. In bed 3 days. No cold symptoms or sore throats for us though.

Abra1t · 09/03/2023 21:08

My second bout of Covid started with a very sudden nose bleed. I then had the throat, glands, aching legs. Felt cold then sweaty. Then the runny nose.

Day five now and I’m back to normal.

My husband is much sicker this time round, but we have reversed who got it first and this time I gave it to him and I think the viral load can be heavier if it’s from your partner.

Abra1t · 09/03/2023 21:08

Oh yes, and the painful sinuses…

BeautyGoesToBenidorm · 09/03/2023 22:27

I just tested positive today, after my 4mo DS was hospitalised with suspected meningitis and sepsis. He also has Covid, poor little bugger.

I just thought I had a particularly rancid cold. Hacking dry cough, headaches, sinus pain, tiredness. My elder DC (11 and 8yo) also tested positive today.

It's the first time I've had it, second time for 8yo. Luckily we're not TOO rough with it, but my 4mo is really suffering. He's still on IV antibiotics and it's a genuine worry.

Hope your little one gets better really soon, same for the rest of you xx

Swiftbushome · 10/03/2023 09:20

Really sorry to hear your baby is ill. Hope they feel better soon (and the rest of you)

Abra1t · 10/03/2023 09:23

So sorry to hear about your baby.
