What symptoms did you have and how long did it last for?

Hi @Craftybodger - yes, me! I've just been to the doctors about this. I'm also really regular but had unusual bleeding after my period that's not settled yet (nearly been 3 flipping weeks). The doctor said it's most likely covid. Scary!!

Thank you. Sorry it’s happening to you too. Mine’s a lack of bleeding - sounds like yours is the opposite extreme, hope it resolves soon.

Does anyone else with a cough find it's worse after eating? I made the mistake of googling and now I'm worried there's something seriously wrong!

sparebooks · 18/02/2023 20:15

Avoided it for 3 years (no particular shielding and young kids at nursery) but I tested positive for the first time today.

Should say that I NEVER get ill! This has been the worst thing I've had for 20+ years.

Symptoms were- woke up with a start yesterday morning shivering and with a sore head/muscles. Felt colder and more shivery through the course of the day and actually ended up in tears, through how cold I felt. Took some painkillers and the shivers stopped but got a high fever. Bit better today but it's now developed into a streaming cold and itchy cough. Hoping this is the worst of it. 2 x vacc plus booster, but the last one was a good 18 months ago so I wonder if the protection has worn off.

Blip · 18/02/2023 23:34

I think protection lasts around a year.
I'm on Day 16 and managed to walk about three miles today, but still feel some remaining congestion. I spent two weeks in my pyjamas not leaving the house!

Maybenexttime08 · 19/02/2023 18:54

Tested positive today - stinking cold, bone tired and a fever. What's the general advice now on how long I should stay away from work (getting on busy train!)? I know there are no strict rules, it's general guidance but would be good to tell my boss roughly x

I stayed home for 8 days after onset of symptoms, tested negative on 8th day and went back out the next day. Felt fine by then but had been rough the week before. Officially it’s 5 days I think now

PinkSparklyPussyCat · 20/02/2023 07:22

Yes, it’s 5 days and 10 days from anyone vulnerable.

I still had a faint line on day 10 but didn’t bother testing after that. I didn’t go anywhere until day 13 anyway and I figured I’d done more than a lot of people and couldn’t stay home forever

feelsoawfuleverythingaches · 20/02/2023 12:17

I'm really struggling with vision today. First day back at work and everything is very blurry and I keep seeing spots

feelsoawfuleverythingaches · 20/02/2023 12:19

Also my period keeps starting and stopping

BeginningToLookALotLike · 20/02/2023 12:23

This is the 1st time I've caught Covid. I felt very dizzy a couple of days before I came down with it properly.
A headache and bad cold with flu like symptoms for a few days plus my limbs felt like lead.
A cough and a reduced sense of smell for a few weeks.
Fatigue and brain fog for a month.

BeginningToLookALotLike · 20/02/2023 12:23

Yes, this too.

BeginningToLookALotLike · 20/02/2023 12:26

And insomnia for a few weeks.
I don't want to catch it again!

Kcc73 · 21/02/2023 06:53

Hi - last time covid hit our family was in the autumn (once in Oct, once in NOv & then another family member in Dec!! - none of us caught from each other as several weeks gap).
Reason for posting is at that time I know getting positive test was taking a lot of folk presenting with possible covid symptoms, a few days before they tested positive. Is that still the case?? Both teens have heavy colds but not feeling too ill. Tested negative yesterday but have friend staying for one week from Sat. and not sure what to do. I have been one of those who feel it is responsible to test for covid been
if just a mild cold symptoms but even one of my dd who suffers with anxiety not keen on testing (in case positive) as she a lot on at college and really isn't that ill. Few years ago we wouldn't have thought twice about her going out to school etc!

Manaslave18 · 21/02/2023 21:00

I started feeling flue like on the 12th Feb but didn’t test positive until the 16th! I’m now on day 6 of testing positive and really lousy.

BluebellBlueballs · 22/02/2023 19:10

Just tested positive today. I don't feel ill, although I've been a little tired but I usually am anyway. Main symptom is horrendously sore shoulders, slight tickle in my throat but apart from the sore shoulders I barely feel ill at all.
Only tested as we have visitors coming to stay and wanted to be sure

I guess I may be in the early stages but I tested positive, last time I didn't test positive until 3 days after symptoms started.

Stoechas · 22/02/2023 19:30

5 days of feeling pretty lousy with symptoms of a heavy cold, joint aching and fatigue.
Few more days of just feeling a bit knackered and headachy.
On day 8 today, LFT negative and feeling like myself again.

sparebooks · 22/02/2023 19:32

It's interesting how everyone's experience is so different. Mine was classic I suppose in that I felt feverish and ill, then got a dark line straightaway.

On day 6 now and the razor blade throat has thankfully gone, just left with dizziness and a bit of nausea. Hoping it goes quickly as I feel drained and have 2 very small kids to entertain!

Maybenexttime08 · 22/02/2023 19:51

Day 4 and starting to feel like I'm turning a corner. My tests are still a very strong positive though - no sign of fading!

HappyHolidai · 22/02/2023 20:00

I'm just over 10 weeks from the start. Got better from the actual virus within a couple of weeks, and wasn't that unwell, but the fatigue continues! Brain fog is largely gone and I'm back at work on reduced hours, but they're increasing next week and I don't seem to be getting less tired at the same rate.
Working at home but desperate to see somewhere else, so going into the office Friday morning even though I expect it will put me back in bed all weekend. 😢

I am so ready to feel better!!

Vitriolinsanity · 22/02/2023 20:39

Day 1: odd giddy feeling when standing and walking, bit like being on a boat which progressed to 😶‍🌫️

Day 2: same plus cough

Day 3: same plus banger headache

Day 4: cold symptoms plus cough, have in to sleep with para and ibuprofen every two hours, urgent need to only eat plain chocolate Digestives and tea

day 5: as above

day 6: weary but well enough to go to work but bed early

Cough plus wee persists 5 weeks later

Surely2023IsTheYearForMyRainbowBaby · 22/02/2023 23:15

A few days before testing positive I had a runny nose and what felt like the start of a sore throat. Did a test and it was negative. Tested a couple of days later and it was still negative so I doubled the dose of my hay fever tablets thinking it was that. Popped into Aldi a couple of days later and suddenly felt very lightheaded half way round. Also had a ice worser sore throat that wasn't easing with a throat sweet. Came home and decided to take another test. Instant blazing positive. I remember being on the phone to my other half and just saying oh fuck I've got Covid. Rang the emergency on call line for work and left a message saying I'd tested positive. First day after testing positive I felt like I'd been hit by a truck. The following day just extremely tired and by the 3rd day after spending it out in the garden doing a load of weeding I felt tons better. In fact I had more energy than I'd had in ages and could've quite easily gone back to work. I was still testing positive by day 13 but back at work by day 10 I don't think I'd have minded as much had the Covid sick pay not being stopped. I ended up having to use up most of my holidays just to get a half decent wage that month. The loss of taste for me was the worse symptom and also the one that lingered the longest. I still haven't gotten it fully back 8 months later

BabsDylan · 23/02/2023 08:20

I’m on day 5,just a runny nose/sneezing. Still strong positive.

This is my 3rd time and I was really ill the first two times.

EatingWormsMichael · 24/02/2023 22:56

This is my first case of covid. I was a bit headachey on Monday, then woke Tues with sore throat, got sniffles that day, on Wednesday my throat was still bad - tested postive with an immediate dark line.

It's now Friday and my throat continues to be very sore. I have chills. Plus an odd stabbing headache.

It's half term week and my poor dc has been stuck indoors with a moaning snotty woman (me!). So far they haven't been infected so I hope they dont catch it
