What symptoms did you have and how long did it last for?

OP posts:
BergamotandLime · 25/01/2023 23:26

Virtually no symptoms aside from a slight sore throat and being v tired. Passed after about 4 days but tested positive for 10.

Whatevergetsyouthroughthenight · 25/01/2023 23:31

Started with streaming nose and scratchy throat. Aches and tired, was taking paracetamol for about five days, hardly got out of bed as felt rubbish. Positive test for about ten days. Runny nose lasted a couple of weeks then hacking cough. Didn’t feel up to leaving the house for about three weeks. Over 6 weeks ago and still not quite shaken the cough although loads better. I am fully vaccinated and had a booster in the autumn.

practicepracticepractice · 25/01/2023 23:31

Fever, diarrhoea, extremely exhausted, loss of taste. Headache. Cough, but it's not bad. Started getting vertigo today.
It's been just over a week and feel pretty fine after having a 2 day fever and not being able to get out of bed for 3 days.

DD has fever, sore throat, bad cough, headache, tiredness. She was feverish for 3 days.

practicepracticepractice · 25/01/2023 23:32

And both of us had really achy arms and legs.
And bad back, but that might be because of being in bed for days.

Bythehairywartsonmywitchychin · 26/01/2023 00:28

shivering (can’t get warm) runny nose, sneezing, sore eyes, slight sore throat, husky voice, aching back and shoulders (usual for me but worse) loss of appetite, slight fought, and Loose stools. It’s a bit like a heavy cold and not the full flu symptoms like last time when I had a fever, sweated really badly and had a cough, and needed to sleep for 3 days..

It started late Monday night so I’m on day 2, and feel okish when I can get bloody warm!

Similar here.

But the general under the weather feeling first with aches, tired and 'cant move off the sofa, TV babysitting the toddler' symptoms, along with the streaming nose and ridiculously sore throat. Then the cough came a couple of days later for a week at least, and strawberries tasted like apple crumble. Then it was just heavy cold and fatigue. Fatigue in ebbs and flows - 1 day good, next day awful - for a good few days.

I felt like a functional human today for the first time in ages.

Wonder if mine is taking a long time to clear because I'm pregnant, 28w or so.

My DH tested positive but his runny nose symptom lasted barely 2 days and that was that.

OrderOfTheKookaburra · 26/01/2023 00:46

Within that space of 1 hour I went from feeling fine but no appetite, to feeling like I had been run over. Aching all over and developed a horrid cough, which lingered. Similar to flu, but symptoms didn't come in in the same order as the flu.

Youdoyoubabe · 26/01/2023 00:49

No symptoms a few weeks ago. Tested to visit fam for xmas.

Got horrible chest infection a couple of weeks later that was awful though. Everyone seems to have had that round here.

OrderOfTheKookaburra · 26/01/2023 00:51

Oh and no one in the family had it/caught it from me, no one on the office had it/caught it from me, so had picked it up from a random out shopping probably.

HarrietSchulenberg · 26/01/2023 01:04

Flu symptoms for two days then just blocked nose. Lost taste and smell for a few hours. TBH, I've had worse colds.

breadwidow · 26/01/2023 07:49

Tested positive Sunday morning. Started feeling a bit under the weather Saturday pm - tickle in throat and that feeling like I had a cold coming. Was worse Sunday morning but it felt like a cold that had progressed rapidly rather than anything different before I tested so I was surprised to see the second line immediately (I took the last LFT in house from the free tests days).

Symptoms then diverted from typical cold. Stronger headache; more body aches; very cold at night - having to sleep in a jumper but no temperature. Sore-ish throat has also come and gone unlike with a cold when you get it at first and then it goes, but it's more a mild irritation than scratchy throat for next. It is def snottier than when I had covid before in summer 2021, so poss a bit more cold like but not a cold.

I had terrible insomnia Monday night which may have set my recovery back a bit cos I still feel pretty awful and it's now Thursday. Got hold of some more tests and im still showing a strong positive too. Im comparing to 2021 again but then I was def on mend after a couple of days, and I was going round saying colds are worse generally after. This is worse than most of my colds.

For context should say I have had the 2 vax plus booster but not the 4th as I'm not eligible (I'm 41).

NomadicSoul · 26/01/2023 07:59

I had every symptom listed on the NHS website and I've had four vaccinations. It lasted about two weeks and I needed antibiotics and steroids as it developed into pneumonia and I was getting fluid on my lungs.

Cough lasted a bit longer and tiredness is still a bit of an issue. I've still got vertigo which is lessening, but very slowly. I finally tested negative on 23rd December.

Greenfairydust · 26/01/2023 08:03

Main symptom was a sore throat, runny nose and some tiredness/body aches. No cough whatsoever or headaches. Lasted 2 days.

Had all the vaccines/boosters.

magicstones · 26/01/2023 11:01

Looks like everyone is having very different experiences. We've had our four jabs and both feeling awful (on day 4)! Just want it to end!

Started with a sore throat and sneezing
Then weirdly overnight everything hurt so much I thought I had broken my ribs, couldn't turn over in bed
Fever/shivering
Antivirals 16hrs after positive test
Throat stayed sore, really tired
Felt better, negative after 4 days
Sore throat again. Positive test back (rebound after the antivirals)
Then mostly fatigue and breathless
Under the covid at home team and sats stayed above 96
Negative after a LONG 18 days

breadwidow · 27/01/2023 08:39

Day 6 now and still positive and not feeling 100% - I know it's that long but comparing with when I had it booster it's longer and worse Sad

breadwidow · 27/01/2023 08:41

*when I had pre-booster
Wish you could edit posts

Woolandwonder · 27/01/2023 08:42

Had it over Xmas. Felt awful. In bed for 10 days. Tested positive for nearly 3 weeks. Still struggling now with really severe fatigue, chest pain, sore throat etc although am up and about more.

breadwidow · 28/01/2023 10:09

I'm now testing negative - went from line to no line within same day! So negative after 6 days. Feeling quite a bit better too but not 100%. Unfortunately daughter now got it, year to the day she had it before which coincides with weekend of mates parties. Poor thing is gutted and I feel so bad for her esp as it's me and husband deciding she shouldn't go rather than 'rules'. I bloody wish we hadn't tested her but she had symptoms and husband did the moral thing

PurplePineapple1 · 28/01/2023 15:51

I've just tested positive an hour ago. Have phlegmy cough, headache, sore throat, aching joints and last night had chills and sweats although that's gone now. I only tested as my husband is in hospital otherwise I'd have said I had a heavy cold.

breadwidow · 28/01/2023 20:24

Back in bed this afternoon, I jumped the gun thinking I was on the mend.

VeryInteresting12 · 29/01/2023 08:31

I started with a fever and muscle aches on day 1. Very shivery and sorry for myself.
This developed into a head cold and I had a very blocked nose and my voice was very hoarse. I had a moderately sore throat.
I basically moved from bed to sofa and back again for about a week as these head cold symptoms got worse for a few days and then slowly improved. I was very tired and had a nasty headache on and off.
watched a lot of tv. I had a dry non painful cough that progressed to an occasional productive cough thst wasn’t painful.
I tested strongly positive on day 4 ( I ordered tests from Amazon) and then negative on day 9 for a couple of days. Day 12 I tested positive but 13 was back to negative.
the second week I was just tired but as the week progressed I was feeling better each day.
Today is day 14 and I stayed up late last night but toward the end of the evening I couldn’t keep awake!
The cough has gone and I’m just a little bit sniffly now

PurplePineapple1 · 29/01/2023 11:44

Is anyone that's currently got it finding it hard to sleep? I'm knackered and going to bed early but I toss and turn until the early hours, drop off at about 4 and then don't wake up until 11am!

breadwidow · 29/01/2023 11:55

Interesting @VeryInteresting12! I wonder if I'll turn positive again. Def don't feel negative yet

@PurplePineapple1 I had a night of full on insomnia with it (day 2-3) and have also had disturbed sleep other nights. I recall similar when I had covid back in 2021 so I think it's definitely one of the symptoms

Yes that's been one of the worse symptoms for me!
