What symptoms did you have and how long did it last for?

I'm on Day 5 today and still feeling rotten although I tried stomach sleeping as recommended for Covid and I feel like it really helped.

For anyone struggling to sleep I'd recommend giving it a go.

SpeedReader · 07/02/2023 17:49

Tested positive this morning!

Had been feeling a bit tired and cognitively challenged the last few days. No other symptoms - in fact I was at the gym yesterday. Glad I tested as I was meant to be out-and-about today and tomorrow, so everything has been cancelled. Going to rest for a couple of days at home.

Rolypops · 08/02/2023 02:17

It has been a week and I feel mostly better though I'm still havinv the odd coughing fit and my chest feels really sore. The insomnia however, is killing me, it's like my body has become incapable of entering rem sleep or something. I cannot sleep for more than an hour at a time and I've slept six hours in three days and starting to feel a bit mad. Does anyone have any tips or ideas to help with the insomnia? I'm getting desperate.

MrsMikeDrop · 08/02/2023 02:23

Sore throat initially, then I think a runny nose in the final days. I've had worse colds, it was such a non event for me (thank God as I have a toddler)

Maverickess · 08/02/2023 02:41

Mild sore throat, headachey and fatigue. Only tested because I lost my taste and smell.

I had flu about a month before (Def flu and not just a heavy cold, like they say if you wonder then it's not flu, there was no mistaking that!) And in all honesty that was worse than the covid, in fact I thought it was a relapse of the flu/lasting symptoms until I lost taste and smell completely. Tested with the flu and was negative.

I was fully vaccinated and had a booster about a year ago, but I am no longer eligible for boosters because I'm not an at risk group and I don't work with one any more.

Missingpate · 09/02/2023 09:31

Interesting reading all this! I just tested positive, started feeling shivery and a bit ill on Monday so four days in. Only tested because of feeling dizzy and just strange, which is what happened last time (had it exactly this time last year! Maybe it’s an annual thing now!). Have had insomnia, was awake all night Monday night which was the main reason I worked from home on Tuesday (some of Tuesday anyway until I had to retreat to bed, glad now I felt too shattered to go to the office as I would have been spreading it!). Spent most of yesterday in bed feeling tired mainly, also sore throat. Today I’m very snotty and have a cough. Have a work event next Thursday which will be after 10 days so theoretically I can go guidelines wise - but reading how so many of you are still poorly long after, who knows what will happen!?

Fossie · 11/02/2023 11:30

I’ve found my people. Third time positive for me, about every 14 months despite 4 vaccinations now. Started with sore throat and raspy voice but quickly became hacking cough, dizziness and loss of taste. Tested positive since Monday and first time today negative. Thought I was getting better despite weird sinus pain in various parts of my face but each night my body starts to hurt, especially my stomach and then I can’t manage to do anything in the day. Quite low with it all too.

frozendaisy · 11/02/2023 12:31

Started feeling a "bit weak" across shoulders and lower back Tuesday, had tested Tues because eldest tested +ve Monday evening.

Wednesday tested -ve, evening felt a bit run down. Wed bedtime shivering, clammy, didn't sleep well, sore throat. Dosed up on paracetamol and ibuprofen.

Thursday tested +ve. Bit run down, bit clammy, sore throat. Couple of coughs.

Taking full dosage of paracetamol and ibuprofen.

Vaccinated.

BornAgainViper · 11/02/2023 12:50

Unvaccinated. First time with covid. Tested positive a couple of weeks ago after my teenage daughter had a high fever and tested positive. I've had surprisingly few symptoms except tired, achey and loss of taste and smell.

Two teens, unvaccinated, had high fevers for 24 hours, and then bounced back quickly.

Dh, vaccinated, more flu symptoms, but has bounced back pretty quickly.

Wheretheskyisblue · 11/02/2023 14:43

Has anyone had loss of taste with covid lately? I have this atm with a headache and general achiness but not tested.

BornAgainViper · 11/02/2023 16:21

Yes, though I was the only one out of four of us with covid who had this symptom.

Missingpate · 11/02/2023 20:31

On day 6 here and so far can smell and taste fine though I am stuffy nosed so sense of smell reduced a bit. Main symptoms throughout have been overwhelming tiredness, intermittent sneezing and sore throat, and generally feeling very strange. Much better all round today so hoping turned the corner.

HappyHolidai · 11/02/2023 20:44

I had no trouble at all with either smell or taste. Maybe smell a bit blunted but I had a fairly blocked nose so it was probably that.

Post-Covid fatigue still continuing; now 2 months since I started with it and 6 weeks since I tested negative. On a phased return to work but finding I'm still very tired after doing not very much. Brain fog is largely gone, though, which is progress.

Stuffynosetime · 11/02/2023 22:45

I had covid several months ago and was totally fine. I ve just tested and have it again, but this time I’m really ill. However it’s clearly upper respiratory. I’ve a temp, am exhausted, I have The shits,my nose is really blocked up, i can’t breathe through it. It’s worse this time but as said upper respiratory,so easier to manage.

overall I feel much worse this time, but as it’s upper respiratory, it’s like a very bad cold or flu.

Mummyof287 · 11/02/2023 23:16

It took me over a week to feel 'normal' again.Began on the Wed night (asif getting a cold) worse during day thurs (cold turning to flu symptoms) similar Fri when I tested positive, and awful Sat.Sun abit better, Mon & Tues & weds slightly more so.Went out and about abit Thurs but felt pretty rubbish all spacey and weak.By the Friday I was more normal, but I have still more tired/weak/breathless and headachey I think the few weeks that followed (had it beginning of Jan)
My worst symptoms this time were the fever and chills.
Worst symptom last year when i had it was the headaches.

PinkSparklyPussyCat · 12/02/2023 10:00

It's nearly 2 weeks since I tested positive and I can't believe I'm still really tired. My taste is back but a bit 'off' and I can't bear the thought of eating crisps. I'm still coughing as well which is annoying, it's worse in the afternoon and evening for some reason. DH is pretty much the same so at least we can whinge to each other!

autumnboys · 12/02/2023 10:04

Got it currently for the second time. The NHS assessed me for Paxlovid and the nurse who called said sneezing is a much bigger symptom of this variant. I had aches and shivers at onset (though not as violently at last time), the cough and sneezing. Compared to last time I am much more snotty and I think more achy. I don’t think I’ve got a temperature. I’m anosmic anyway so can’t comment on the loss of smell. Didn’t have it to start with.

magicstones · 12/02/2023 16:15

Very interesting reading all the different symptoms. Im still soooo tired and it's been weeks / tested negative about a week ago. No matter how much sleep I have, I'm tired!

Leftittothelastminute · 12/02/2023 16:26

Just recovering- tested positive 3 weeks ago. My symptoms were exhaustion, achy arms and legs, dizziness, blocked nose, cough- alternating between chesty and dry and absolutely frozen all the time. 3 weeks on, still shattered. Had covid 4 times now, and every time has been different. Double vaccinated and 1 booster. Not able to have the 4th as I was positive when offered it.

PandaG · 12/02/2023 16:46

Tested positive yesterday evening - fully vaccinated with 2 boosters. Definitely had it once before, fairly sure I had it March 2020, and possibly once more.

This time I feel really rough. Started with a tickly throat yesterday morning and the odd sneeze. Now hacking cough to the point I feel like I'm dizzy/verge of passing out, headache, sinus pain, very sneezy, mucus production with the cough - been sick with it, chest aches, ribs ache, especially intercostal muscles, stiff neck.

Low point was gagging when taking test last night, coughed and threw up into the kitchen sink, and coughed so much I wet myself at the same time. Feeling rather sorry for myself as it is half term and so I'm not at work. At least my kids are no longer dependant on me!

autumnboys · 12/02/2023 19:54

Am fully vaccinated by the way - I fall into group 6 I think and have had everything offered, as have the rest of the family. I work in a secondary school though, pretty sure I got it there.

Woolandwonder · 13/02/2023 09:29

I tested positive on 27/12. Everything is still a real struggle, just so fatigued, the brain fog is really awful and I've still got a lot of chest pain, am spending most of my time in bed between trying to do little bits of activity. It's very boring, am used to it to a degree as have other health problems but am still a long way from my normal.

Starrr123 · 14/02/2023 14:44

How is everyone ?

i tested positive Saturday morning, friday j was very tired. But thought it was my period as i was due on.
im on day 4 hoping ill feel better tomorrow! Its my 4th time having it.
Havent had my 4th jab yet, really hoping i get over it fast. Had flu over xmas/new year and that lasted for nearly 4 weeks! X

HappyHolidai · 14/02/2023 19:03

9 weeks and 1 day since I started having symptoms. Just done 2 partial working days in succession for the first time since mid-December. Actually feeling not too bad.
Brain fog basically gone; fatigue better though I'm still having a long rest in the middle of the day (hence reduced working hours) and going to bed early.

It's been something of a slog but I may return to normal in the end.

Craftybodger · 16/02/2023 21:40

I tested positive 10 days after my last period. I’m usually very regular. I’m now 10 days late, with nothing imminent and def not pregnant. I know the vaccinations can upset menstrual cycles but has anyone found the same with Covid?
