What symptoms did you have and how long did it last for?

OP posts:
VeryInteresting12 · 29/01/2023 19:04

I had a couple of nights of very horrible dreams… really horrible

HappyHolidai · 29/01/2023 19:11

Didn't feel too awful to start with: just virusy and a cough. After about 5 days I went to bed feeling ill and pretty much stayed there for a week or so. Not terrible respiratory symptoms (mild cough, tight chest, bit headachy, blocked nose) but very tired and ill-feeling.

Tested negative on Boxing Day (day 14, though didn't test at all til day 6 when it was immediately massively positive). Since then have had continuing fatigue and brain fog. Brain fog is a bit better and I'm going back to work tomorrow on a very gentle phases return (just 3 half days from home), but still tired and needing a rest after lunch every day.

Have been off work for 6 weeks and with the slow phased return it could well be another 6 before I'm back anything near full-time.

BobaTea · 29/01/2023 19:15

Anyone has had a high fever? How long did it last and how high was it?

I'm on day 3 and I thought my fever has broke this afternoon but now it has returned with a temp of 38.4c.

BobaTea · 29/01/2023 19:23

Also, has anyone had a chesty cough?

WilsonMilson · 29/01/2023 19:53

4 weeks on from positive test here and pretty much fine, get shivery/chills a few times a day which isn’t usual for me and have had some extra headaches, but nothing that impacts my day.

My symptoms were - hit me suddenly, went from fine to feeling very achy in legs and back and shivery, but no fever. Minor sore throat and energy a bit low for a few days. No real cough. Sinuses felt weird and went very dry and I lost smell and taste day 5. No smell or taste for just over 2 weeks and it’s come back now, mostly better.

Symptom wise I’ve had worse colds, worst by far was loss of smell and taste and accompanying dry sinuses.

1st time having covid. Unvaccinated.

bestbefore · 30/01/2023 04:56

Urrghhh the insomnia! I just want to sleep but can't get comfy at all

xogossipgirlxo · 31/01/2023 12:56

Cough, temperature above 38C.

PinkSparklyPussyCat · 31/01/2023 18:20

I have it at the moment and the worst symptom is the cough, it’s the worst one I’ve ever had, I’m honestly worried what the neighbours think. I also ache and have a headache but I think part of that is from the cough. DH also has it and has been shivery and isn’t coughing as much as me.

Rolypops · 01/02/2023 08:23

Sorry to hijack OP but for anyone who later went on to develop a chest infection did your cough go away for a bit first? Highly suspect I had covid at the start of January, was pretty unwell but have been ok for two weeks, yesterday I woke up with a horrendous cough and sore chest and feels like the start of a chest infection (never had one before). Could I have gotten sick twice so close together?

Washaday · 01/02/2023 08:26

Initial fever then heavy cold. 6 days or so

Henowner · 01/02/2023 08:28

My symptoms started nearly 3 weeks ago and developed into a secondary chest infection over last weekend so speak to your doctor Rolypops. It's so weird how covid goes through different stages. I really hope I can get back to work soon!

Did you get better at any point before the infection developed?

I don't think I've ever had two bugs this close together before and never had a cough hurt this much :( no temp or anything just a horrible painful phlegmy cough. Not sure what to do.

ParadiseLaundry · 01/02/2023 17:10

First symptom was I felt a bit achey and tired and had an early night.

I felt totally fine the next day but was a bit congested.

Two days later my sense of smell started to go weird like it had last time and I tested. That lasted a few days but never went fully like it did last time.

Apart from the achey tiredness at the beginning I felt totally well within myself.

Henowner · 02/02/2023 10:56

I felt better for one day, went to work and then felt even worse the same evening. I managed to see a doctor (8 days from 1st infection) and they said it was most likely a covid "hangover". However on day 15 I contacted the doctor again with a worsening cough and breathlessness and they diagnosed a secondary infection and antibiotics were prescribed. I'm day 18 now and still exhausted, breathless and coughing. I would speak to a doctor before you get any worse 💐

magicstones · 02/02/2023 14:17

How long have you all been testing positive for?

OP posts:
BlackSwan · 02/02/2023 18:25

Six days and counting. Still have a fever and feel crap.

Mindyoursoul · 05/02/2023 15:50

Just tested positive today, first time having Covid have had x3 vaccines. First symptoms with funny feeling in throat then shivers/fever yesterday but was negative. Today have slight cough and fever tested negative in morning did another in afternoon and positive. Hope everyone feels better soon.

Craftybodger · 05/02/2023 16:04

4 vaccines.

1st time covid. Came on in 6 hours, felt achy went to breathless, coughing and feeling awful. I slept, hugely, having not slept very well for months I really slept with covid, 19 hours straight over the first night! No fever, no cold symptoms. But almost everything else, diarrhoea, vomiting, aches, dizziness, weakness, breathless and an atrocious cough that I can’t shift.

How long have you all been testing positive for?

I'm on day 11 today and have only just got a negative
Husband is on day 13 and has a very faint line still

We've both felt pretty awful, despite 4 and 5 vaccines respectively

HelpMeGetThrough · 06/02/2023 07:54

I had it all last week and I had the worst headache and eye ache I've ever experienced, I wanted to pull my head off.

I've had breathing problems too and feel exhausted. Im going to work today (WFH), but to be honest, I could wish that further at the moment.

The Paxlovid antivirals are horrible!!!

itstimeforme · 06/02/2023 12:04

Tested positive on Boxing Day, stayed positive for 12 days. Have only in the last few days started to feel properly better. After the aches, headache, sore throat and shivers went (about 10 days) the lingering symptoms were chest pains, palpitations and severe fatigue.

Blip · 06/02/2023 22:16

How are you now OP?

That's interesting- I tested positive on the 27th and I'm so tired and didn't think it might be covid after effects Blush
Also keep having severe night sweats

Feeling much better thank you, but not shifting the cough at all and still having dizzy spells! Thank you for asking :)
