I'm 53, no health issues and tested positive on Tuesday for the 1st time. I'm triple vaccinated and I feel absolutely awful, I can't stop coughing, I ache, I'm tired, no appetite and just want it to be over. Paracetamol does nothing, I feel panicked when I'm coughing to. I can breathe OK without tightness or wheezing which is a relief. I really hope its not worse tomorrow as its grim now. My 15 year old DD is on day 6 and she was really poorly to, it knocked her off her feet and she's very fit and healthy. I just need a handhold I think to see me through 😊

The best advice I can give you is to rest as much as you can. Treat it like flu so fluids, rest, potter about but don’t push it if you feel awful. I was really ill last time I had it, you have my sympathy.

junebirthdaygirl · 23/09/2022 03:55

It's horrible. I practically could do nothing for about 7 days except rest and crawl to the bathroom. But do keep moving around to keep your chest open. Even some arm exercises and walk about the room every now and then. When you begin to feel better keep resting as much as possible to get your energy back.

BringItBackBruno · 23/09/2022 09:49

I'm in exactly the same position. Tested positive on Tuesday and still feeling rotten. It's knocked me sideways! But also very grateful I can breathe ok - the coughing fits are scary enough!

I feel slightly better today, how are you doing? I've woke up today with sore ribs and back from coughing but not as achy all over. I know I never want to get covid again!

I hear you! Tested positive Saturday and it knocked me for 6! Only stopped aching yesterday but still can't shift my headache...also seem to have been left with some sort of motion sickness if I look at a screen for too long Confused

Suffolkcatlady · 24/09/2022 19:14

Oh no! It's horrendous. I'm on day 6 now and still not better. 54 and triple vaxxed. A bit overweight but not obese. But have been totally knocked off my feet. Not the mild cold or flu I was expecting. Hope you get well soon. I haven't really got any advice to help other than make sure you drink enough, take paracetamol, and rest and call Dr f you get really worried about anything. Get well soon

Hi I've got covid for the second time this year this week, I'm.3 days post positive test, I had symptoms the day before I decided to test. I find my symptoms come and go aches, fatigue, cough, sore throat, chills and pains in my body. I'm triple vaccinated too. I've had nausea and an odd taste in my mouth too.
Trying to carry on as have a toddler and a 4 year old who has just started school to look after.
Get well soon everyone.

Chocolatetrifle · 24/09/2022 19:52

Ibuprofen helps too.

justasking111 · 24/09/2022 19:58

So the cough is back. The summer sufferers seemed to dodge it. I wonder if it's mutated again. You all sound sicker than its been for a while. Take care. If you've jif lemon and honey mix that into hot water and sip. It does help and prop yourself up in bed

Groovee · 24/09/2022 19:59

Hi, I tested positive last Saturday for the first time. I feel like I’ve been hit by a bus. There is no way I can go back to work on Monday. The 15 stairs in the house is a killer.

I couldn’t figure out last Friday why I had no appetite and exhausted. Then overnight major pain across my lungs, high temperature while shivering with cold. Dh insisted I test and I was like WTF.

Work have said to get a sick line as I work in nursery.

PinkStickleBrick · 24/09/2022 20:03

Yes sleep and then sleep even more. Only eat what you feel you need to. If you have any multivitamins get those into you.

I had covid in Jan 21 pre vaccine and was fine.

Had it again about 3 weeks ago and I was not fine. This round seems to be extremely contagious too.

2anddone · 24/09/2022 20:24

@Groovee I tested positive last Saturday back to work Monday and dreading it I am a childminder so no back up during the day if I go downhill or can't manage. No sick pay and have to refund all my families for closing last week. Stay off as long as you need our job is a killer some days when we are healthy!! Flowers

Circleoffifths · 24/09/2022 20:30

DP is just testing negative now after being ill and on the sofa for over a week. No cough or congestion. But temperature, aches, sleeping a lot and generally feeling rubbish. Loss of appetite and then when he did start to eat again, his stomach was really unhappy.

DumpedByText · 24/09/2022 20:59

I finally feel little better today, day 4. Still got a very strong positive and I work in a school so they won't allow me back until I have two negative tests. I can't see it being negative by Monday. I'm still exhausted, dizzy, cough has gone, my eyesight is wobbly and my rib/torso pain is awful. This latest strain is just awful and I dread to think how I'd be if I wasn't triple vaccinated. Speedy recovering to everyone else x

I’ve recently had my second bout of Covid and it was, and still is, horrendous. I was off work for a week and 2 days. I’m not fully recovered as I still have a tickly cough and sinus congestion.

It’s been much worse than my previous bout and I’m fully vaccinated. It’s spread rapidly at work, it’s been like peak Covid.

MadisonAvenue · 24/09/2022 21:22

I tested positive just over two weeks ago, I’ve been vaccinated four times.
It’s the second time I’ve had it, the first time was back in January when apart from a few hours when I felt grotty I was okay. This time it’s dragged on and I’m still having waves of tiredness and coughing lots.

No one else in the house has caught it though and I had symptoms for four days before I tested positive (I had two negative tests in that time). My son even shared a bottle of water with me at a football match on the night before my positive test.

Groovee · 24/09/2022 21:27

@2anddone take care of yourself too. I’m dreading how tired I will be when I do return.

MikeWozniaksMohawk · 24/09/2022 21:41

Agree this current form doing the rounds is very contagious, and it also seems to have a short incubation period. DH tested +ve on Monday, with me doing so 24 hrs later, after we attended a wedding on the Saturday. Several people from there seemingly have it, most of whom we didn’t mix with. DH still suffering but much better than he was. I am largely recovered but still testing +ve. Kids seem to have dodged it (please!)

MikeWozniaksMohawk · 24/09/2022 21:42

Oh and I meant to say this is the first time DH or I have had it

Stopsnowing · 24/09/2022 21:51

Triple vaxxed. Tested positive for first time. Had thought it was a bad cold but then started having really had shivers. Felling sick. Painkillers did nothing. No temperature. Worse symptom the aching.

I'm feeling a bit better today finally (day 5) but got overexcited and loaded the washing machine twice this morning which left me flaked out and sweating on the sofa for the rest of the day! I was sick from coughing this time yesterday though so very glad that seems to have settled. Hope you're on the mend.

TheUnquestionedAnswer · 25/09/2022 06:02

Did you all use nasal only test or nasal and throat. I am not sure I trust the nasal only and need convincing! Thanks

Mine have all been nasal this time. I leave the swab in the liquid while I tidy up then did the cleaning up then did the twisting etc g be who’re on to the test strip.

I was convinced I always did them wrong. But here we are day 9 and still positive,

Your school won't allow you back until you've had 2 negative tests? I work in se and we're allowed back in after 5 days - which I totally diasagree with. Wish it was the same for us. It's rampant in my school and this week alone myself, other ta and teacher have all tested positive, all off. I am crushed to have it. I feel cheated because I dodged it all through the lockdowns, I've been on holiday twice over the last 2 years and not got it. My dh had it at Xmas and I still didn't get it. I have had 4 jabs as I'm deemed vulnerable due to a past health condition. I think the jabs have helped me a lot as I just feel like I have a bad cold, achey, headache, tiredness, congestion etc. It's not pleasant.

TheUnquestionedAnswer · 25/09/2022 14:43

@Groovee thanks
