I'm 53, no health issues and tested positive on Tuesday for the 1st time. I'm triple vaccinated and I feel absolutely awful, I can't stop coughing, I ache, I'm tired, no appetite and just want it to be over. Paracetamol does nothing, I feel panicked when I'm coughing to. I can breathe OK without tightness or wheezing which is a relief. I really hope its not worse tomorrow as its grim now. My 15 year old DD is on day 6 and she was really poorly to, it knocked her off her feet and she's very fit and healthy. I just need a handhold I think to see me through 😊

Ds tested positive on Tuesday last week, he had been nauseous & had the runs for 2 days before starting with the sore throat, headache, aches & pains, he has tested again today & while the line on the test is fainter it is still positive. He still feels ill now, is quadruple jabbed as well.

I’m on day 4 now and this is my first time with Covid.

I started on sunday 25th thinking my sore throat and cough was reflux because that’s normal for me. The cough got pretty bad though so I took a test as a precaution and it was positive immediately.

Next came the fever, chills, whole body aches, banging headache, can’t smell or taste now on day 4, congested, hacking cough, feels like I’m swallowing razor blades and really rapid heartbeat. When lying down and relaxing my heart rate is usually in the low 60’s and it’s in the 90’s at the moment! Just woken up and now my snot is yellow so that’s lovely 🙄 I’ve honestly never felt this vile in my life it’s absolutely awful!

StealingYourWiFi · 28/09/2022 11:59

day 2 today. Slight sore throat, sniffly this morning. Now feeling very achey in limbs and have this strange sensation around my lungs, sometimes like a shooting pain or ache.

I have been active and moving around. Trying not to let it get to me. My resting heart rate is up.

CrunchyCarrot · 28/09/2022 12:50

It's pretty difficult to get Paxlovid in the UK, @BlodynGwyn - it's only available to the 'highest risk' patients, so it would depend on what your health conditions are as to whether you'd be able to get some.

Today is Day 4 for me, my temperature has gone back to normal. The main symptom I still have is a terribly sore throat, it really is awful. Plus no appetite, and am glad I don't feel hungry as no idea how I will get food back that firey channel!

CrunchyCarrot · 28/09/2022 12:50

*past, not back!

moonfacebaby · 28/09/2022 13:14

Day 3 here and just tested positive this morning.

Woke up at 2am on Monday morning with an horrendous headache and feeling sick. Aches in my leg and pelvis. Had to take the strongest painkillers to stop the headache and other aches as nothing else was working. It’s proper, bone deep aches and the headaches! I’ve never had one quite like it.

No chest issues, or snot - slight cough developing but doesn’t seem worrying.

RaininSummer · 28/09/2022 13:17

I have it for the second time. Triple jabbed. Yesterday felt like a cold but today I ache all over and have no energy at all and can't stop shivering. Am under two blankets and one is an electric blanket. Headache is awful too.

DumpedByText · 28/09/2022 14:04

Day 8 here, still testing positive but more faded this time. Today I feel better, still tired and dizzy, no appetite or taste/smell but definitely better. I'm not going back to work until Monday now as I need two negative tests as I work in a school. I don't think I'm well enough anyway so hopefully be OK by Monday.

I've got it for the first time. Everything hurts except my tongue. And there's nothing I. want to watch on TV to take my mind off it. Any suggestions? I don't even want to eat which is not normal at all- I've never lost my appetite ever!
Was testing negative while feeling rough for almost a week so carried on working, flew to overseas meetings, went out for work dinners etc. I think that has all come back to bite me now and it has clobbered me extra hard.

whydoesitalwayshappentome · 28/09/2022 18:48

I have got it for the first time and feel terrible. Coughing, snuffling, sore throat on and off, very strange taste in my mouth that comes and goes. I feel quite hungry but then I don't fancy what I have made. My ears are throbbing as well which is unpleasant.

EnormousStuffedMarrow · 28/09/2022 20:58

Tested positive yesterday (first time).
I've got the worst sore throat I've ever experienced.
I'm afraid to swallow.
I've got painkillers and lozenges.

Also nausea, aching, headache, painful inner ears.
But the throat is something else.
Any tips gratefully received!

Hope everyone starts to feel better soon.

StealingYourWiFi · 29/09/2022 09:10

Day 3. Throat sore this morning but that’s gone with ibuprofen. Nose is running like a tap and ears feel bunged up. My legs felt so heavy last night I could barely lift them when laying down.

SunnySomer · 29/09/2022 09:24

I’ve found my tribe! Never had covid until this week, triple-vaccinated and have been working in schools throughout.
tested positive on Tuesday but felt ropey since Sunday (and tested negative). The coughing is horrible. My throat feels like it has shards of glass in it. I’m feeling quite thrown: I’d assumed I was some special blood type and immune 🙂

SunnySomer · 29/09/2022 09:26

Enormous stuffed marrow: I’ve been having half a lemon with a tsp of honey and hot water. Old school but really soothing. The lemon kind of makes your throat hurt in the moment, but long term seems to help.

EnormousStuffedMarrow · 29/09/2022 10:34

Thanks @SunnySomer I've tried black tea + honey which is good. Haven't got a lemon!

I had also secretly started thinking I was immune!

Can't believe how rough I feel.

Hope you start to improve soon.

SunnySomer · 29/09/2022 10:46

Thank you! Actually I feel loads better today than yesterday - still have massive headache and hideous cough and a bit fuzzy in my head and a big achey… but miles better. I’m feeling I’ve been quite lucky really…

Biscuitandacuppa · 29/09/2022 11:26

I tested positive on Thursday with a faint line after feeling feverish and a sore throat. I’m now on day 7, still testing strongly positive. I feel absolutely worn out and weak. Still coughing, have no taste or smell. I work in a school so need two negative tests. I’ll need to ring for a sick note tomorrow as I can’t see me being well enough to be back on Monday. First time I’ve had it, my dd (11) has it too. It’s horrible.

StealingYourWiFi · 29/09/2022 11:43

I thought I was immune too! It finally got me. Day 3 and coughing is starting to ramp up. Blowing my nose a lot. Been walking the dog still but it’s a lot of effort.

Madcats · 29/09/2022 15:10

I am so tired!

My Covid last summer was a breeze compared to this. I didn't get a cough last time, just a streaming nose and sneezing fits.

I think I an probably on day 6, but i only did a test on Tuesday.

It probably didn't help that I was already dealing with a flu booster I had last Thursday.

Brain fog doesn't come close. Luckily teen seems fine.

StealingYourWiFi · 29/09/2022 15:29

Is anyone else ok in the morning and then exhausted the rest of the day?

in the morning I’ve been walking the dog (not massively far maybe 30/40 mins), put some washing on and did some light cleaning.

I’ve been flat out all afternoon! My limbs feel so heavy and feel knackered. I actually feel quite energetic in the morning. Should I not be doing so much? I hate moping around and I’m always busy so this is a pain for me

Madcats · 29/09/2022 16:27

I'm eternally grateful that I have a teen who is perfectly capable of getting herself ready for school and no dogs to walk. I slept between 9-12 and got up at 2pm to do a couple of hours work that can't wait.

I seem to perk up at around 7pm, not 7am!

MissDollyMix · 29/09/2022 16:51

Interesting reading these. Hope everyone feels better soon. I’m on day 1. Covid virgin despite being exposed numerous times. I’m a bit disappointed as I’d become a bit of a covid legend amongst my friends and family who’ve all had it! Feel ok so far. Only tested because I knew I’d been with a colleague all day on Monday who’d felt and then subsequently tested positive. Sore throat, slightly light headed, bit tired, bit achey, bit warm but nothing remarkable, was able to wfh all morning. Triple vaccinated but that was ages ago now! Bit nervous about how much worse it’s going to get though….

Madcats · 29/09/2022 17:40

I forgot to mention that my family all do the ONS Covid testing each month.

DH and I still had high levels of antibodies according to our monthly bloodtests; fat lot of good that did us!

I feel a bit perkier this afternoon, but that might be because the sun is shining through the windows for a change.

whydoesitalwayshappentome · 29/09/2022 18:39

I feel exhausted. Not helped by the cough from hell which is wearing me out. I still have the yucky taste in my mouth and today my appetite has mostly vanished. Plus an irritating buzzing in my ears. No idea that that is about.

QuietNeighbour · 29/09/2022 18:44

I am more perky by the evening but wake up feeling rubbish (despite sleeping fairly well).

like PP I have tinnitus almost constantly and it is driving me potty
