I'm 53, no health issues and tested positive on Tuesday for the 1st time. I'm triple vaccinated and I feel absolutely awful, I can't stop coughing, I ache, I'm tired, no appetite and just want it to be over. Paracetamol does nothing, I feel panicked when I'm coughing to. I can breathe OK without tightness or wheezing which is a relief. I really hope its not worse tomorrow as its grim now. My 15 year old DD is on day 6 and she was really poorly to, it knocked her off her feet and she's very fit and healthy. I just need a handhold I think to see me through 😊

@StealingYourWiFi I have a few bursts of energy in the day and then overdo it so feel crap later.

If you can, maybe better to rest even if you feel like you have energy.

I have felt worse today overall (tested positive on Tuesday).

Groovee · 29/09/2022 21:45

I’ve been completely floored today. Tried a walk and regretted it.

CrunchyCarrot · 30/09/2022 03:29

Just into Day 6 for me - think I'm getting better, but scared to say it in case I jinx myself! Temperature gone back to near normal now. I did an LFT and the line is just as strong, though. My jagged-feeling throat has improved a little but it's still making eating anything very difficult. I've got more appetite but can't find much that I can actually get down.

Coughing lessened considerably today - until I went to bed then I couldn't get to sleep as it kept on disturbing me. I am still awake at 3.30 a.m. writing this! 😩The most annoying recent development though is an unpleasant smell, definitely in my nose and not coming from anywhere outside myself. I am not sure how to describe it, it is a bit sweetish. Actually maybe it's ketones as I've hardly eaten for 5 days (and no I'm not diabetic).

Nat6999 · 30/09/2022 03:47

Ds tested positive 12 days ago, he felt pretty rough for about a week but tested negative on Wednesday this week, he must be feeling better he is off to the Green Party Conference in Harrogate in the morning.

whydoesitalwayshappentome · 30/09/2022 06:35

I am on day three and have been up most of the night because my nose alternated between being blocked and then running, which led to even more coughing then some sneezing.

warofthemonstertrucks · 30/09/2022 09:42

I'm on day 5. Felt a bit better yesterday. Feel absolutely awful today. Nausea is horrendous and a new symptom that I shan't had yet. On the upside my throat feels slightly less sore. I'm so fed up. And worried about work. In my probation period and I've now had to take a full week off

warofthemonstertrucks · 30/09/2022 09:44

And I've also got a horrible ear ache that feels like someone is drilling through my ear drum. I always get bad ears when I'm run down but this is something else. Fucks sake.

RaininSummer · 30/09/2022 10:29

Still feeling very weak and stinking headache. Coughing a fair bit too and temperature all over the place. Just spoke to work who kindly informed me that I need to watch my sick days as Covid is not discounted now. Happy days.

That's terrible.

im not sure what the alternative is. As I guess a lot of people lie about Covid, but not what you want to hear when you feel like shit!

hope you're feeling better soon 💐

warofthemonstertrucks · 30/09/2022 10:34

Covid not counted at my work anymore either. I'm a care home manager. Go figure.

Objectionhearsayspeculation · 30/09/2022 10:48

I tested positive on Sunday for the first time, felt so bad on Saturday I actually thought I was dying but had no cough, no cold just really sore eyes , I couldn't even open them and acid reflux. Sunday the cough and fever started with a really sore tongue and throat. Monday introduced the stomach issues, great fun with a cough. All throughout have been headaches and sore teeth/gums from the coughing. Now my ear is so sore I could cry and my jawline feels like it's broken and nose won't stop running. I went and hibernated upstairs but now DH and Dds all have it. Dd1 is really ill too, Dd2 is in great form apart from occasional cough and DH has a runny nose, bad head, occasional cough and sore teeth/jaw.

Madcats · 30/09/2022 12:45

DH cooked supper last night and teen stayed at a friend's house (every cloud...).

I'm feeling much improved today as I'm not coughing and I just get occasional headache flareups. I had a bath, which was a great morale boost. I recommend it over a shower , especially if you can pop some essential oils in the water.

I drank a good 1/2 pint of herbal tea with honey and lemon in and that seemed to ease a sore throat and ear problems.

My fever has finally gone too (day 6/7).

Maybe it was because of all the coughing and snot, and not much food, but my stomach was really gassy when I was at my worst. I've not notice this in any of the Zoe symptoms, so perhaps it was just a coincidence.

Sending healing vibes to everybody.

DumpedByText · 30/09/2022 13:42

Day 10 and I'm still testing positive! I'm feeling back to normal in the day but by evening I feel sick and get a headache and feel exhausted, so I was in bed by 9 last night and slept until 7 this morning.

OP posts:
whydoesitalwayshappentome · 30/09/2022 14:15

@Madcats I have a gassy tummy on and off as well. I also occasionally feel sick.

Xmasbaby11 · 30/09/2022 16:14

I tested positive on Tues too - my first time having covid. I have felt dreadful:

Very sore throat
Cough
Lost voice
Sneezy and had to blow nose 100x an hour (that's finished now)
Achey bones so uncomfortable to sit down
Generally feel like death

However, no breathing problems and still eating as normal despite not tasting things much.

I haven't been able to sleep well but resting most of the day. Dh and the kids are fine and busy at school/work. I'm relieved everyone else is OK and my 80something parents are not suffering - but still feel sorry for myself!

MissDollyMix · 30/09/2022 20:47

Day 2 here and touch wood it’s really not been too bad so far. Very mild symptoms. Pretty sure if it wasn’t covid I’d be trying to get on with life as normal. The main symptoms I have are - temperature- peaked at 101.2 yesterday evening. Now hovering around the 100 mark. I don’t feel ill with it but I do feel sweaty!! Pretty tight chest or sore back - I can’t work out which one it is! Other than that I just have a bit of a stuffy nose, and a bit light headed and tired. So far I think I must be really lucky, I’ve had worse colds.

EnormousStuffedMarrow · 30/09/2022 21:27

Such a huge range of symptoms!

I felt a bit better this morning- had a reasonable sleep - but absolutely wiped out now.

Coughing a bit more today, but sore throat has eased slightly.
I found honey and lemon really helpful for the throat and hot drinks definitely better than cold.

StealingYourWiFi · 30/09/2022 21:44

Day 4. Today felt a bit easier. Lots of coughing though. Didn’t feel quite so tired but I did rest more frequently. LFT line is very dark, pretty much black. I need 2 days of negatives to go back and work are hoping I’ll be back Monday but I don’t see that being the case?

EnormousStuffedMarrow · 01/10/2022 06:48

The coughing seems to have kicked in overnight. It's making my chest hurt!
I'm on day 5 since test (but definitely had it the day before the test).
I thought I was improving yesterday 😞

whydoesitalwayshappentome · 01/10/2022 07:14

Day 4 and another night of not sleeping because my nose kept blocking, then running and when that wasn't going on I was coughing a lung up. I am not a happy bunny at all.

MissDollyMix · 01/10/2022 11:35

Day 3. Still super sweaty at night. Will have to strip the bedding off and wash it all over again . No temp this morning though and really the only symptom I have is a sore chest. I’ve been hiding in my bedroom for the past 3 days - I don’t want to pass it on to my family (or anyone else) but I really feel like a fraud being stuck in here. This isn’t good for my mental health either.

StealingYourWiFi · 01/10/2022 12:00

Day 5. Was coughing a lot as I got into bed last night. I bought some tablets in Turkey last week (thanks Turkey for the covid souvenir also!) called Unisom (doxylamine 25mg) on recommendation from a friend that they are good for sleeping. They are also a decongestant so I thought why not.

WELL the coughing stopped!!! I slept right through. It was miraculous. This morning I am coughing a lot again but I will take one more tonight before bed.

the dog has been walked and I’m feeling very warm today. My LFT is still very dark.

Madcats · 01/10/2022 15:11

I have a negative result (which is good news as I was getting cabin fever and was running low on milk and bread).

I think this is probably day 8 for me.

I still feel really tired, but I've lost the cough and headache. Everything tastes a bit metallic (so I hope that is a temporary blip associated with having a snotty nose).

DH has gone back to bed, but seems a lot better too.

rosebud5678 · 01/10/2022 17:46

Does anyone else have a constant taste in their mouth a bit like when you are recovering from a tummy bug and still off food? This is combined with general lack of appetite.
The internet says such symptoms can last weeks, if not months! 🙁

Groovee · 01/10/2022 18:32

I’m two weeks on and the fatigue is killing me. Like others Covid is now counted as normal sickness so with surgery in Feb, a tummy bug in May, I fully expect to be on absence management next week.
