I'm 53, no health issues and tested positive on Tuesday for the 1st time. I'm triple vaccinated and I feel absolutely awful, I can't stop coughing, I ache, I'm tired, no appetite and just want it to be over. Paracetamol does nothing, I feel panicked when I'm coughing to. I can breathe OK without tightness or wheezing which is a relief. I really hope its not worse tomorrow as its grim now. My 15 year old DD is on day 6 and she was really poorly to, it knocked her off her feet and she's very fit and healthy. I just need a handhold I think to see me through 😊

Another who’s triple vaccinated and have it for the first time. I have shown symptoms since Wednesday, tested positive Thursday.

I feel like absolute garbage. Initially it was a slight sore throat and chills, then fatigue, then breathlessness last night (but pulse oximeter fine) and any movement makes me cough uncontrollably. This evening I started with a fever and severe body aches. My 11-year-old son also tested positive today, so at least I have company in the spare room. Poor kid is wiped out, but no fever.

i hope that we are all on the up very, very soon!

susan12345678 · 26/09/2022 03:21

I've been feeling under the weather since Wednesday night, think I caught it on a trans-Atlantic flight on Monday. I didn't think it was covid because it was fairly mild, so I only tested today. Strong positive. For me, it's been slightly worse than a bad cold so far, sore throat to begin with, now slight cough, aches and pains, but manageable with panadol/Lemsip.

One thing I can't shake is insomnia, I'm only sleeping about 2 hours a night!
Has anyone else experienced this?

2anddone · 26/09/2022 06:46

@susan12345678 I did for the first couple of days but just put it down to sleeping so much during the day!
Up and ready for work first child arrives at 7.30 last one goes at 4.30....I still gave the morning sickness feeling. Sat here drinking sweet tea and wearing my travel bands also taken an anti sickness tablet...I can do this right??

LassoOfTruth · 26/09/2022 07:26

Can I join the party? Tested with a strong positive on Saturday after feeling like I had a heavy cold since Wednesday. Triple vaccinated and have somehow escaped it so far! But feeling progressively worse if anything. The headache is migraine-level pain at times and I’ve got nausea/motion sickness as well as ringing in my ears and a cough and mild body aches. Thankfully both kids seem symptom-free atm so I’m advised to send them to school/nursery. I’m going to call in sick and just sleep!

Sorry to hear its got you now. I thought I was feeling better as I'm day 6, but today I feel like I've got bad morning sickness, I've also lost my smell and taste now. I'm so weak and just feel terrible 😢

Urgh, I phoned the dr to get a sickline but my breathlessness concerned them and I ended up being checked for blood clots. Pleased to say it’s not but it’s the most active I have been for a 11 days, so it’s taken it out of me. The hospital staff were great x

LassoOfTruth · 26/09/2022 15:39

@DumpedByText day 6! Jeez you poor thing. Hope we all feel better soon 😟
One silver lining is at least I can attend “conference week” at work in my PJs via zoom instead of driving a billion hours in the rain to make strained small talk with colleagues

warofthemonstertrucks · 26/09/2022 15:44

I tested positive this morning after two days of feeling rough. DP is on day 8 and he can't shift it at all. And now Dd has it too. We are all just wiped out, light headed, chesty, achey and nauseous. Fed up. I thought it was 'over'.

PortiaWithNoBreaks · 26/09/2022 17:35

I’m in my third week now since my positive test and not fully recovered yet. I’m back at work but feel knackered, have a cough and intermittent blocked sinuses. It’s been horrendous.

CrunchyCarrot · 26/09/2022 20:06

Another one with the dreaded lurgy. I tested positive on Sunday morning. DP caught it from friends and gave it to me! I only had the barest tickle in my throat but decided to do an LFT and a very strong line formed within seconds!

Day one wasn't too bad, had a good appetite, but after a very disturbed night last night (coughing kept me awake) I feel ghastly today. No appetite at all, only had a pot of yoghurt this morning, nothing since. My temperature feels all wrong, hot and sweaty on day one, cold and shivery today, but no fever. Just stayed in bed all day.

DP is recovering now, he's a couple of days ahead of me. I react to most medicines (histamine intolerance) so am having to get through this cold turkey.

rosebud5678 · 26/09/2022 20:32

Like many others on this thread, I have just tested positive today after feeling ill since Sat (and two negative tests). 54 and triple jabbed.
Painkillers are keeping my temperature down - but the permanently slightly nauseous feeling is not pleasant. It really does remind me of morning sickness in pregnancy, in that eating something helps to ‘take the taste away’ before it just comes back again…also can’t face coffee, which I usually love.
My sleep isn’t great at the best of times, but I’m waking every couple of hours and sometimes just staying awake for 90 min or so, which isn’t much fun.
I work in a large high school and we had an email today warning of lots of cover. Here we go again….?
Here’s to everyone else currently suffering and hope we all feel better soon!

QuietLieDown · 26/09/2022 21:18

Day 7 here after testing positive last Tuesday for the first time.

Days 1-3 were properly horrendous - fever fairly well controlled with alternate paracetamol and ibuprofen, but that didn’t touch the body pains (mostly in legs) or the torrential snot, headache and general relentless awfulness. Pretty much no sleep. A Mumsnet covid thread search suggested hot water bottles for the body pains, which were a really good idea. Sore throat really kicked in by Day 3.

Day 4 and 5 I could definitely sense some improvement, but still couldn’t be upright for more than a few minutes at a time as the dizziness was quite intense. Day 5 sore throat had subsided a lot but taste went weird - I keep wondering if I’m imagining it, but then every now and then something just tastes downright peculiar, or of nothing much at all, as though a layer of taste has been stripped away. Like taste colourblindness.

By Day 6 the fever had settled enough to stop the painkillers and I could have the odd conversation and sit in the garden for ten minutes or so at a time. Day 7 and the runny nose has gone, and I can think a bit straighter, as long as I don’t move around much - I have the nausea that really reminds me of morning sickness too, and the dizziness that’s exacerbated by moving definitely makes that worse. Thankfully biscuits are tasting just fine, and they are my nausea friend, just like back in the day.

I’ve ongoing post-viral issues from a much more mundane virus a few years ago, so am quite used to feeling pretty crap a lot of the time, but man, this has been something else.

CatAlice · 27/09/2022 09:36

Second time round here. Woke up with mild sore throat yesterday and later a headache. These were my first symptoms last time so I tested and it was positive.
Day 2 throat worse, headache, nausea and mild fever.
Last year after 2 vaccines I was really ill and spent over a week in hospital and took 3 months to recover.
I'm hoping that after 5 doses plus covid I will get off a bit lighter this time. I may qualify for anti virals so waiting for a call.

DumpedByText · 27/09/2022 11:02

Day 7 here, still feeling awful. Headache and terrible nausea just like morning sickness. No taste or smell either, still got a really strong positive on the tests to. I can't see me going back to work this week.

Groovee · 27/09/2022 11:46

Day 11… finally negative on the test. Actually feel more normal now too.

Crikeyalmighty · 27/09/2022 11:51

It's the dizziness and mild nausea plus a banging headache that for me were horrendous

Like a very very bad hangover with vertigo

Suffolkcatlady · 27/09/2022 13:22

Day ten here and still feeling awful. Completely wiped out. Can do a short burst of something like loading washing machine then that’s it for the next hour. Just resting and trying to drink fluids and taking paracetamol

QuietNeighbour · 27/09/2022 13:34

Day two here. I only tested as I was due in at the office (usually WFH) and DH had tested positive Sunday after being ill from Thursday. Scratchy throat started yesterday. Last night limited lung capacity. Today increasing hoarse cough and muscle aches. Plus headache, painful feeling on my skin, swollen tongue, blurred vision. Still have a sense of taste and smell though!

QuietNeighbour · 27/09/2022 13:35

Oh and I too have the low level nausea. Plus intermittent congestion. Feels like a lot of symptoms LOL

TickyTok · 27/09/2022 13:44

Triple vaccinated and caught it 3 weeks ago. Mercifully mild symptoms compared to many people here, low fever, sinus congestion, headache and weirdly enough only 2-4 short coughing fits a day but otherwise fine. Did PCR testing throughout and my viral load was no longer detectable after day 8. However I actually felt worse the second week (days 8-14), maybe due to cumulative exhaustion from taking care of positive toddler DD without a break. Had constant brain fog, intense fatigue and headaches. However once that went away, I feel completely fine again and no lasting issues with smell or taste.

CrunchyCarrot · 27/09/2022 17:16

Day 3 here - temperature went rocketing up to 103'F. However, no nausea, dizziness or headache and coughing is much reduced. Throat feels like shards of glass when I swallow. DP says he can't taste anything! He is a lot better, though.

StealingYourWiFi · 27/09/2022 17:27

Joining you all! Never had covid (tested twice weekly since it started as work in a hospital). Baffled it’s taken so long tbh as a travel a fair bit and go out a lot.

flew back from holiday Saturday night and most of the plane were coughing.

tested yesterday as a precaution before going back to work Wednesday and was negative.

woke up today with a bit of a scratchy throat so tested again and it came positive straight away. I’ve felt reasonably ok today. Bit breathless on dog walk. Haven’t needed painkillers. Felt a bit hot this morning but mostly just feel tired and I have had an upset stomach about 5 times. We also have to wait for day 5 and then have two days of consecutive negative tests before returning to work.

Am I likely to start feeling a lot worse?? Triple vaxed and relatively young and fit.

BlodynGwyn · 28/09/2022 02:00

OP, how are you feeling?

My husband tested and was positive on Friday 23rd.. He immediately moved into our guest apartment. I had a very, very faint positive Sunday and on Monday an immediate very dark positive line. No symptoms then. Started dry coughing later on. Husband moved back home at that point.

I'm almost 70, with loads of health issues. Never vaccinated - due to these health issues.

My son and husband were help greatly by taking the antiviral medication called Paxlovid. They encouraged me to go on it. I'm in the US. I called our State's department of health, they called the Paxlovid prescription into a drug store of my choice. The whole thing, including phone call with a clinician took about 20 mins! I'm very impressed. And it's also totally free.

I started the Paxlovid yesterday and woke up this morning wanting to die. I barely made it down the stairs. Very lightheaded - dizzy, weak, pain, and nausea. The cough is a bit better though. I have no appetite at all and when I try to eat I immediately have bad nausea.

Reading that my symptoms could be side effects of the Paxlovid, I decided to stop taking it today. At first I felt a bit better, then a little while ago it all came back - after 5 or 6 hours without a dose. Symptoms might be from covid, and not the Paxlovid. Not sure what to do now. I always get all the bad side effects from medications and so I was hesitant to take the Paxlovid in the first place.

Anyone else here taking it? Reading about other people's covid adventures really help me cope.

Which conditions stopped you being vaccinated ?

GarlandsinGreece · 28/09/2022 03:04

Day seven here. First time. Triple vaccinated. Today I felt pretty much normal, aside from a bit of a dry cough and some chest tightening. But I went for a nice walk, finally, and managed some chores. Been resting plenty, too.
