Tested positive yesterday evening when I thought I was literally going to die! Had a headache and cold symptoms I couldn't shift throughout the day. Had an early night but woke up with a 40.1 degree temperature and was shivering head to toe.
Managed to dodge covid.. until now. Hearing a lot of people catching it again.
It's horrible! The worst thing is the headache!
Anyone else currently have it?
How you feeling?

Testing negative now thankfully but still have no taste and no appetite, I struggled to finish a sandwich before. I'm hoping its because I'm still a bit bunged up and once that's cleared up I'll be able to eat and taste normally again

FlippinOmicron · 25/07/2022 11:43

Yay - my sense of smell has returned. Not fully, but getting there. Hopefully I'll test negative tomorrow.
@Ahalyn** FlowersThank you for the tip re Vitamin C and magnesium. The magnesium I was taking anyway to help me sleep.

Has anyone tested negative
( having previously tested positive ) but still has a cough ?

I tested negative last Wednesday after 8 days but still have a cough today! Other than a mild cough this has been a breeze compared to 90% of viruses I've had in the past. I work front line NHS and am traumatised by the first wave seeing people dying and so short of breath. I've been so fearful and anxious about getting ill I've been scared about going anywhere, really. I'm so glad I've had it now, I feel I can live my life without fear.

FlippinOmicron · 25/07/2022 15:14

Thank you for replying @sunflowerandivy
Glad the fear is gone.

E and DS are now fully negative and over it finally. I tested neg on day 8, for DS it was day 11. So glad it's over it wasn't very nice at all.
Hope everyone is doing ok.
My smell and taste have returned now yay!
On the plus side I couldn't smell baby poo for a while 😂

@FlippinOmicron oh yay 😀 😊

Awhispersway · 26/07/2022 12:57

Im day five today. Its the diarrea i cant cope. I pooed on the carpet last night by accident. Im drinking lucozade. Im starving but everything comes straight out and the back ache is horrible. No sore throat and very mild coughing.

FlippinOmicron · 26/07/2022 13:08

Tested positive again.
A week. Sad
But my symptoms are so mild so I won't complain.

KatharineofAragon · 27/07/2022 08:55

I have avoided it up till now but have an awful headache. nausea, upset tummy and a cough. Sore throat too but testing negative. Anyone else had this?

SNAFU247 · 27/07/2022 09:05

Another one that avoided it until now, despite DH having it multiple times and having DCs in childcare/school where it has been rife! Went on my first abroad holiday since Covid and caught it there - could put ££ on it being caught in airport on the way out as it was so busy, never seen Gatwick like it before. DH isn't great with crowds and was rather concerned.

Had sore throat Monday and felt a bit tired - tested negative. Yesterday I had shivers/sweats on and off, sore throat and minor body aches - tested negative twice. This morning I had the oddest symptom; my face is swollen in random bits (swollen ear, swollen chin, one side of my lip), chesty cough and can't hold a conversation without wanting to cough. Tested postive straight away.

Sweetpea84 · 27/07/2022 10:27

Tested positive today after 2 days of being very ill already. I’m snotty, throat like razor blades, phelmy cough, headache and being tired with no energy. Fun fun fun!

TheQueensCousin · 27/07/2022 13:27

Tested positive yesterday! Avoided it so far. Headache, achy, runny nose but no loss of taste and smell. In fact I've got hyper-smell for certain things!

crappens · 27/07/2022 15:31

First time here too. I feel grim. I wasn't expecting to feel this unwell having had all my vaccines. My heart rate is all over the place and my Fitbit thinks I'm doing a workout when I walk from my bedroom to the kitchen.

Sweetpea84 · 28/07/2022 05:22

I seem to be worse around 6pm where it seems to ramp up and I feel like I’m dying. I feel so so ill. I can’t taste or smell either and when I do try and eat I can’t breath and when I go to clear my nose I nearly vomit trying to do that. I’m in a right state :(. Hope everybody else is ok? We’ve got this!

HeirloomTomato · 28/07/2022 05:39

This thread has given me some peace of mind to read about those of you coming out the other side with negative tests and no symptoms. I'm on Day 6 here and only starting to feel vaguely human today after fever, body aches like I'd been in a bar fight, nausea, diarrhea, fatigue, cough, congestion. A really horrible dose. If this is 'mild' then I dread to think what the original COVID strain must have been like, especially when vaccines weren't available.

I'm a teacher so I've had many exposures and close contacts throughout the pandemic but always dodged it until now. Also triple vaccinated. It had to happen some time I suppose and it looks like this new variant is getting everyone. I also got it while traveling abroad.

Hyperion100 · 28/07/2022 07:33

Im 3 days in and I feel very, very rough.

Started with a scratchy throat and cough which was followed by a persistent headache which feels like my eyeballs are being pushed out from inside. Shivers, sweats, body aches, extreme fatigue...its really shit.

Its definitely not just a cold.

And I have to work today 😞

KatharineofAragon · 28/07/2022 08:12

I’ve just tested again and I do have Covid. I am die fo fly to France early September. Have not had my booster . How do I get proof I’ve had Covid so I don’t need a test before I fly?

SNAFU247 · 28/07/2022 08:57

Not sure what day it is for me.... tested positive yesterday, but had worse symptoms day before that and some symptoms before that (so technically day 3 or 4). No fever at all and throat feels fine. Today I've got a snotty nose and the cough is less tickly and now more chesty - feel like I just need to have a massive coughing fit to clear it all! Still have taste and smell and eating bloody everything because I'm bored. Managed to work throughout (WFH) so at least thats keeping me occupied.

dumbledory · 28/07/2022 15:25

First timer here. Triple vaxxed. Day 4 (I think!)

The first 24hrs were horrendous. Body aches, headache from hell, wobbly on feet and very spaced out. Temperature reached 41.6 at it's highest and that was with painkillers...

Today I feel really tired and my throat is a little sore, but still have a bit of a temperature four days on...is that normal?

Yes, I had a temperature still on Day 4. I ran a fever for three days straight. It helped to take paracetamol to keep my fever down but on the worst days even with paracetamol it just dampened it down a bit and didn't take the fever away.

KatharineofAragon · 28/07/2022 20:09

I’m on day 2 and breathing is getting worse. I thought it wasn’t too bad but I feel worse now.

maryso · 28/07/2022 20:24

I think it's worth saying that people should use oximeters to check oxygen levels. Feeling rough is bad enough, but it's an emergency of your levels are not at least 95%.

Wookey123 · 28/07/2022 20:39

Catherine of aragon how long did it take to test positive my colleague was positive last fri. Ive felt weird for few days nausea, headache foggy head. Little bit sneezy slight sore throat & the odd dry tickly cough. Still testing positive..
