Tested positive yesterday evening when I thought I was literally going to die! Had a headache and cold symptoms I couldn't shift throughout the day. Had an early night but woke up with a 40.1 degree temperature and was shivering head to toe.
Managed to dodge covid.. until now. Hearing a lot of people catching it again.
It's horrible! The worst thing is the headache!
Anyone else currently have it?
How you feeling?

I was diagnosed with Bronchitis today. The Dr said I was very unlucky to end up with it following Covid but truth be told I think what I thought was the Covid cough was actually Bronchitis and Covid at the same time.

Im Exhausted.

Oh no that's awful! ☹️

Get well soon Flowers

Finally on day 5 so I think I can leave the house tomorrow but correct me if I'm wrong. Feel a lot better today, apart from blocked ears and tiredness, got about 2 hours of sleep last night and now my eyes feel like they have pins in them so going to try to nap as and when I can I think. So thankful that headache has gone it was the worst part for me as nothing would shift it and only seemed to get worse as they say went on

RoxieLoxy · 20/07/2022 10:29

Hope you feel better soon @JellyBellyNelly

@LifeonMarss I'm still testing positive but today is day 5 for me. I'm very confused about when I can leave the house. I think we can just crack on whenever and certainly after 5 days. But is it morally wrong to be testing positive still and go out? I was hoping for two negatives but that could take days more and I don't want to waste the tests when we don't even have to test now. My symptoms have mostly gone. Wonder what the acceptable thing to do is?

WanderingFruitWonderer · 20/07/2022 11:59

I started doing outdoors stuff (distanced and careful) after the 5 days. Went to a shop for the first time yesterday on day 8, double masked, rushed in and out. Avoiding cafes etc till negative; but that's my own personal choice. Everyone has to do what they feel is right. Loads of people are doing all sorts all through! We've all done our bit on here I reckon

RoxieLoxy · 20/07/2022 12:08

Thanks @WanderingFruitWonderer. I think I'll do the same. Sounds reasonable to me.

TinaWeymouthsBass · 20/07/2022 12:25

Day 10 here and although still very sluggish (heat not helping) I feel loads better, I'm still testing strongly positive so won't be coming into close contact with anyone just in case, but ok because dh and I work from home anyway and have regular Tesco deliveries.

Magic1231 · 20/07/2022 13:58

It's nice to hear, us on here are being thoughtful of others, it's a shame not everyone does the same. Theres no way I could get a positive test and willingly risk infecting others. I'm on day 13 still feel shit for the most part, massively fatigued with the headaches coming and going a little. I tested negative today, I think it's so ingrained into me now to avoid people though its almost difficult to break it xxx

Gosh, you're still a strong positive on day 10? Mine is a very faint line now.
It's tricky. Apparently it's quite unusual to still be infectious after a week. People can be getting positives after 15 days due to dead virus being picked up. Ideally I'd have preferred to have not gone anywhere till I was 100% negative. But, it's not possible for me, with my work and life, so I've just done my very best that I can under the circumstances. Not getting physically close to anyone till negative. Literally had to go to the shop, as ran out of everything, and couldn't get an online slot; but wore two masks, and literally ran in, grabbed my essentials, and ran out. I obviously stayed away from life for the first 5 days. I think it's difficult now we're no longer in the era of furlough and grants etc. But I think as long as we do our very best to protect others, we shouldn't give ourselves too hard a time. I hope you test negative soon, and can enjoy some well-deserved freedom 😊

Passthebubbly · 20/07/2022 16:42

First time for me too tested positive today triple vaxed. Tested this Morn due to sore throat and bad head but was negative, took my very vulnerable mum to lunch and then tested positive when I got home. Praying she does not catch it from me. She had her mask on mostly and we were outside eating so fingers crossed. Hope everyone who has it just now is ok.

Nopeasinapasty · 20/07/2022 17:19

Triple vaxxed first timer. Came down with the worst upset stomach of my life on Friday night but didn't test positive until Monday morning. Still can't keep any food inside me. Fever broke last night which was a relief. Feel like I'm weirdly buzzing - can't sleep for more than an hour but just want to lie still with my eyes shut.

Magic1231 · 20/07/2022 18:33

I can relate to that buzzing feeling, along with the bone tired but inability to really sleep xxx

@Passthebubbly I also tested negative on the morning I had symptoms. I was with my vulnerable mum in the house all day then I tested positive on the evening when I broke out in 40c temp and shivers. She didn't catch it off me so try not to worry about your mum especially if she had mask and you were outdoors hopefully she will be ok xxx

I've just realised the only time I've led the front door since Fri 8th July is to put DS nappies in the bin 😂😂
His test was very very faint positive today so if tomorrow he produces a negative then my DM is happy to mind him for me Friday so I can go out to work!! Never thought I'd say these words but I can't wait to go to work 🤣🤣

@ijustcouldntthinkofausername firstly I bloody love your username 😂. Thanks for the reassurance am worrying myself sick about her. I thought I just had a bit of heat stroke to be honest but with the sore throat this morn took a test to be sure. Just shocked at how quick it went from negative to full on blinking positive. I am meant to be going on a flight late Monday night our first trip since covid I doubt that will be happening now 🤯

AhaLyn · 20/07/2022 21:09

I had that buzzing feeling too. A bit unsettling really.

Magic1231 · 20/07/2022 21:15

Oh try not to worry too much! I was the same, I went from friday to Tuesday not knowing I had covid! I often get the scratchy throat and go hot and cold so didnt think it was anything serious until I felt worse. During that time I was in the car with my elderly mum, niece and her girlfriend (windows shut, air con on) and come tomorrow that's 14 days ago, and all have tested negative xxx

ijustcouldntthinkofausername · 20/07/2022 21:15

@Passthebubbly thanks 🤣

Oh nooooo you're supposed to be going abroad!? I'm not sure on the regulations as I've still not been abroad yet since having my baby who was conceived in initial lockdown 🫣😆 so I wouldn't know what the airports etc are doing now.

Bless you Flowers get well soon though anyway I hope you don't have it too bad 🤞 xx

@ijustcouldntthinkofausername yeah booked Disneyland Paris for the kids for 4 days looks like it will be a all boys trip 😢 could not in all conscience get on a plane if I was still testing positive.

Passthebubbly · 20/07/2022 21:27

@ijustcouldntthinkofausername and congrats on your new baby xxx

Passthebubbly · 20/07/2022 21:29

@Magic1231 i am trying so hard she is just so vulnerable but in all honesty as I said to her tonight everything out with covid she has survived up to now covid would be nothing for her. Just feel guilty if I am the reason she gets it but hopefully all will be fine and if it does happen she will get the antivirals x

ijustcouldntthinkofausername · 20/07/2022 22:12

@Passthebubbly thank you 😘
Yes my mum has angina and asthma and has managed to dodge it til now. She has my DS everyday for me to go to work but I just can't send him til he's negative. It would be like me handing him over saying 'here you go mum get covid off him while I go to work please' I couldn't!
My boss has been really understanding and has let me work from home (as much as I can with a baby 😳) til he's negative.
Todays test was faint positive so if he's negative tomorrow which I think he will be, then negative Friday. She will have him Friday ☺️

Awww gutted you are going to miss your holiday 😩 hope the boys have an amazing time but still gutted for you Flowers

I'm triple vaxxed too and have Covid. It's rife, it's summer though and I worry about winter. I'm self employed so don't get paid if I'm off ill, I feel dreadful at the moment and couldn't work with these symptoms.

inigomontoyahwillcox · 21/07/2022 08:59

First timer here too, triple vaxxed. Had my positive yesterday morning but had had a scratchy throat for a few days (but tested negative on Monday). I feel AWFUL - fever, banging headache, ears and throat are on fire, my body feels like it's been pummelled, cough ( sometimes dry, sometimes productive) and blocked/streaming nose. Supposed to be going on holiday to Italy with DD on Monday ... looking increasingly unlikely.

FlippinOmicron · 22/07/2022 14:00

First timer here too. Vaccinated and have had two boosters.
Like a bad head cold.
It started with a slight headache. Not much of a cough but dh who, like me has had the vaccine and two boosters, has had an awful cough.

Has anyone else lost their sense of smell and taste with the latest variant which I presume is Omicron ?
I have no sense of smell whatsoever.
I've tried ( sniffed ) all sorts of strong smelling household stuff and medicines and my expensive perfume and body lotion. Nothing, nada.
I can't smell.
Taste too has been totally inhibited.
I can tell if something is sweet or bitter but not what flavour something is.
Coffee could be tea iykwim.
