Tested positive today - anyone else?

Tested positive this morning (Sunday) after negative test last night. I think I had it before a few months ago so am a bit annoyed to have it again.

Symptoms are feeling chesty, bit of a cough, painful mouth ulcers on back of tongue.

Anyone else along for the ride?

Day 3 and feel like I've been hit by a bus. Tested positive on Monday but strangely my test this morning was negative. Started with sore throat, now muscle aches, low grade graver, extreme fatigue, tight chest and full of snot. I'm struggling to look after the poor kids and dreading picking them up from school later

Oh goodness !
must be awful looking after little ones feeling like - my DH working away but my DD’s a teen and pretty self sufficient- and off
school as she has covid too 😩

Tested positive on Monday. I'm 35 weeks pregnant and have had to cancel my babymoon. Gutted isn't the word.

Obviously I accept that people have freedom to walk around with it now and I've enjoyed that freedom myself but I wish wish wish that whoever it was could have just kept it to themselves. I'd now be on my lovely sunny holiday and not down £400 :(

Oh no - sorry to hear that

Schmz · 22/06/2022 15:48

Anyone noticed red lumps in their armpits come up ??
I assume it’s my glands swelling fighting the virus ???

WhereDoesThisToiletGo · 22/06/2022 15:52

I've for a walk across the fields at the end of our road.
I feel I need to get some gentle exercise before I merge into our sofa.

picklemewalnuts · 22/06/2022 16:07

My skin's extra sensitive. No lumps yet!

Travelban · 22/06/2022 16:19

I have tested positive yesterday and I feel way worse than most describe on here. (not had it before). I went to bed with a high temp and blinding headache and was up all night in pain. At one point I felt like choking too but the absolute worse are headache and fever.

I can barely walk to the toilet. Luckily Dh is at home as I def couldn't cook for myself. I hope this gets better soon as it's horrendous. I had a paracetamol last night and projectile vomited it. I was in a truly sorry state.

Managed a bit of scrambled egg on toast for lunch and an ice lolly now. I feel like my body is packing up!!!

D0lphine · 22/06/2022 16:27

I'm so sorry for the people who are feeling shite.

Side note- has anyone felt SUPER emosh? I cried for about 3 hours which didn't help the headache / snot situation?

I had a very severe headache day 1
painkillers didn’t touch it
day 2-3 it’s been more sore throat and fatigue and no headache

Travelban · 22/06/2022 16:53

So glad, to hear, it doesn't last long. Its getting a little better but I still can't get out of bed but it's only day 1 I guess. Hope everyone starts to feel better

Haphazardhacker · 22/06/2022 17:06

Hello all, I’m day one. Felt very tired yesterday and caffeine wasn’t helping so thought something was up. I then woke up this morning with a scratchy throat so drank a load of water and went to put my horse out, got back an hour and half later and still no better so tested and got a faint line. Luckily I work from home most the week so just muddled through. My head feels a bit heavy and this morning I was getting stabbing joint and muscle pain but that’s stoped now and just left with scratchy throat at the moment. Have arranged for me to bring all the horses in tonight so no one else will be nearby.

@D0lphine apparently depression (or feeling emotional!) is normal with a bug as your body reacts with inflammation, and when your brain gets inflamed it does something or other (sorry, no scientist!) that means you feel depressed.

I'm sorry for you @Travelban - that sounds awful. Do rest and hopefully you'll feel a bit better tomorrow.

peppermintteas · 22/06/2022 17:39

Luckily kids were in after school club so I didn't have to see them. I picked them up and made them a really quick tea. I'm back on the sofa now dying. I feel so bad as they are 9 and 6 and will have to fend for themselves for a bit this evening. I'm so thankful I bathed them last night, so minimal effort is needed and the 9 year old will help with the 6 year old. I texted their father to see if he would help with school pick ups and drop offs this week and no reply.

jano69 · 22/06/2022 17:40

First timer here too, triple jabbed.

Hot and cold all Monday night. Tested Tuesday morning and came up positive straight away.

I thought I caught it from a party on Saturday night but is 2.5 days too soon? I'm not sure of the incubation period for this variant.

Absolutely awful smashing headache on Day 1, like I've never experienced before. Headache is easing a bit today and getting cold and cough symptoms now. Feel spaced out and have brain fog.

Have had to work from home on urgent stuff which noone else can do, really don't know how I've managed it.

I've been very scared and worried about covid so quite relieved just to confront this bastard of a virus. 2.5 years of dread and anticipation has really effected my mental well being. Shame we don't get antibodies....

Schmz · 22/06/2022 17:47

I don’t get the ‘doesn’t give antibodies’ scenario
anyone know what’s that is about with this variant ??
thanks

Oh right well that's makes me feel a little better then. I was a bit confused!

Chevyimpala67 · 22/06/2022 18:14

First infection here. Triple jabbed.
Day 3 for me
Day 1 - scratchy cough
Day 2 - high temp, headache, sore throat, muscle pains all over, really high heart rate and BP - Dr sent me to a&e which is where I tested +
They gave me fluids and beta blockers
Today Day 3 - the worst sore throat I've ever had :(
Feel shocking

Chevyimpala67 · 22/06/2022 18:20

The sore throat is awful...worst I've ever had

Firesidefox · 22/06/2022 18:38

Agree that the sore throat's the worst I've ever had.

Poor you @Chevyimpala67 I hope you feel better soon. I felt v bad days 1 and 2 then slightly better day 3 and much better day 4 (still bastard sore throat though)

Sorry you're suffering too :(

So sore to swallow and feels quite restricted? Ugh...

Feart · 22/06/2022 20:46

I’m exactly the same with the sore throat, I’m day 4.

It's awful isn't it?
I thought Glandular fever was bad but this is worse :(

Toomanylosthours · 22/06/2022 20:53

Tested positive yesterday, symptoms started Monday with negative result. I've had 4 vaccinations, haven't felt this bad since I had swine flu. Its the continuous tiredness. I've managed 2 hours awake in the past 28 hours

Hope everyone else who has tested positive is feeling better

Strange...I'm not sleeping due to pain/feeling ill...:(

Torvi · 22/06/2022 21:31

I've tested positive today. I've been feeling rough with what I thought were very bad hayfever symptoms for a couple of days but was testing negative. My GP even prescribed me steroids this morning for it as the antihistamines weren't doing much. No wonder!
My throat has been awful - sore and itchy and I have a mega headache. I had covid in August last year and had more flu-like symptoms then.
Hope everyone who is suffering feels better soon. It's grim.
