Tested positive today - anyone else?

Tested positive this morning (Sunday) after negative test last night. I think I had it before a few months ago so am a bit annoyed to have it again.

Symptoms are feeling chesty, bit of a cough, painful mouth ulcers on back of tongue.

Anyone else along for the ride?

Is anyone else isolating within their house? He has told me to stay in my room and is convinced I'm not getting better... keeps telling me stories about people with long covid etc.

I also wondered about the dog!

I haven't tested since my positive test but am wondering when it might go negative. I'd quite like to see that just for the mental boost.

Is anyone else thinking of testing and if so, on what day? Today is day four for me - I tested positive first thing Sunday.

(Ps before anyone tells me, I know I don't HAVE to test, am just interested!)

@Perfectlystill im planning on testing Friday, 8 days after postive test. Mainly as I have a doctor's appt Monday which I can't attend unless I'm negative.
Thought about testing earlier but Im not planning on going anywhere that makes it necessary. Plus want to keep tests for DH

libbytrois · 22/06/2022 09:57

@BruceAndNosh sadly I have read that the latest variant does not help develop antibodies. Day 4 here and lost sense of smell which feels very strange. Lots of first timers testing positive .... myself included.

historyofthefuture · 22/06/2022 09:57

Day 5 here :(

Day 1 and 2 felt like a heat-induced migraine/sinusitis, Day 3 and 4 just felt like ass, with extra headaches; now absolutely exhausted and spacey with that horrible mouth-feel. I know from the previous rounds that the most important thing is just to rest rest rest, especially to avoid fatigue/etc dragging on, but I am so BORED.

WhereDoesThisToiletGo · 22/06/2022 09:58

I think DH would feel happier if I test negative as he might feel less "at risk" living with me!

Ah bugger that! I'd hoped there was SOME benefit to feeling like crap

How can I not? Just causes arguments

SquirrelFan · 22/06/2022 10:08

Felt iffy Thursday night, rough on Friday, finally tested positive on Saturday. So I'm on day... 6? Sore throat, cough, fever, body aches. Now dizzy, too! NHS app says I still have 2 days to go before I can mingle with the general populace, but I have been asked to come in tomorrow. If I'm still testing positive, am I expected to go in? The guidelines seem very wishy washy.
Also have exams here and a vulnerable family member, so yes @D0lphine I am isolating as much as possible - staying in bedroom with door closed and windows open, warning family when I am about to leave the room for the loo, wearing a mask (except in the shower)when I do leave the room, taking my dishes down to the kitchen after everyone else is in bed. It's a faff, but if I can prevent anyone from getting it, it's worth it! (we've FaceTimed for dinner a couple of times and I call the kids!)
Hope everyone feels better soon.

SquirrelFan · 22/06/2022 10:09

@D0lphine also, no one should be yelling at you! Flowers

hippospot · 22/06/2022 10:15

I'm also a first timer, triple-vaccinated.

Oddly my immediate family all tested positive in the autumn, and I didn't, despite not making any attempt to avoid them. This time around, I've tested positive and they are all fine!

It's been worse than I expected. Four days of just lying on the sofa, terrible headache and congestion were the main symptoms. Fourth day, quite a bit of coughing. I'm now on day 9 and very tired. Smell and taste mostly normal. Bit of a sore throat.

Get well soon everyone. The enforced resting is a drag.

Firesidefox · 22/06/2022 10:23

Oh @D0lphine I'm so sorry to read that. He doesn't sound very nice. I'd kill my husband if he started scaring me with stories about long covid etc. You poor thing. Hate to do the classic MN 'LTB' but is he worth staying with?

Depressing if we won't get any antibodies from this. Is this going to go on and on like this forever, with us just getting ill every five minutes?

Someone tell me no, please!

picklemewalnuts · 22/06/2022 10:31

@D0lphine I did ask DS2 to isolate in his room at first, as there were 3 of us who didn't have it. I looked after him well though, lots of meds, ice lollies, and general TLC. When I tested positive I started out isolating, sprayed all the handles with antiviral, then realised I shared room with DH, so he was likely to get it anyway.

The positive people aren't preparing for for the negative people (yay, week off cooking!). Apart from that it's life as normal.

That said, your bloke sounds like an arse and as soon as you are better he needs ditching EXCEPT if he has health anxiety, or is ECV (and is at all other times a delight to be around).

Any other situation, he should be discussing calmly with you how best to manage it and never ever shouting at you or being nasty.

Perfectlystill · 22/06/2022 10:33

Thank you @WhereDoesThisToiletGo - I won't test yet then.

I'm a first-timer - positive test on Monday, probably from an event I went to last Wednesday as my friend who was with me there is now also positive. Started isolating from husband on Monday, but now he's positive as of this morning so it's just business as usual with just the 2 of us in the house.

picklemewalnuts · 22/06/2022 13:44

I really wish it was affecting my appetite! Yesterday I ate a load of comfort crap, so I'm trying to eat healthily today. I just want to eat though. All the time. What's that about?!

Meowser72 · 22/06/2022 14:22

Another first timer here - I tested positive today after having a repeated urge to clear my throat last night. I have also woken up with a really sore underneath of tongue (not throat) for the past couple of days! Now my legs are a bit achy and I have a headache. I went to a concert at Wembley over the weekend so perhaps I got it from there. I am now trying to isolate from family (and the world) for at least 5 days or until I test negative. Will not go out into the world if I don’t test negative on day 5. I’m feeling a bit lonely really - how about you all? Are we meant to report test results? I get the feeling the government doesn’t care anymore.

Meowser72 · 22/06/2022 14:23

I’m also not sure if it’s ok to very quickly take the dog for a poo in the woods. He won’t go in the garden unless he is desperate and it is too hot for DH to take him on the school run. The woods are shady and cool and they are right behind our house; I doubt I’ll see anyone and if I do I will give them a wide berth. What do people think?

Do it. Your not breaking any rules and the risk to anyone else is low

peppermintteas · 22/06/2022 14:33

Day 3 and feel like I've been hit by a bus. Tested positive on Monday but strangely my test this morning was negative. Started with sore throat, now muscle aches, low grade graver, extreme fatigue, tight chest and full of snot. I'm struggling to look after the poor kids and dreading picking them up from school later

Borgonzola · 22/06/2022 14:33

Tested positive on Monday. I'm 35 weeks pregnant and have had to cancel my babymoon. Gutted isn't the word.

Obviously I accept that people have freedom to walk around with it now and I've enjoyed that freedom myself but I wish wish wish that whoever it was could have just kept it to themselves. I'd now be on my lovely sunny holiday and not down £400 :(

I walked the dog at ten yesterday but I got blasted for it by my OH. (Still not over it can you tell??)

Obv I think it's fine. As others have pointed out on here we need some normality and realistically it's such low risk.

Meowser72 · 22/06/2022 15:14

@D0lphine I think that’s a bit mean of your OH. Oh well I just did it (trying to use my common sense); the dog pooed within 7 minutes and the only living creature I saw was a squirrel. I’m not doing the school run or any other mixing, we will warn Tesco delivery drivers and I’m in a separate part of the house. I work from home already and did so before covid so there is nowhere I need to go.

MsMoody · 22/06/2022 15:37

Honestly a bit of fresh air and exercise would probably help recovery too! Ignore him.

Yes definitely!!!
