Tested positive today - anyone else?

Tested positive this morning (Sunday) after negative test last night. I think I had it before a few months ago so am a bit annoyed to have it again.

Symptoms are feeling chesty, bit of a cough, painful mouth ulcers on back of tongue.

Anyone else along for the ride?

I tested positive on Sunday too, feeling pretty shit and fed up.

Had a bit of a disagreement with a friend who has tested positive for covid. She walked her dog, but said it was ok at night with no people around.

What do we all think?

It's a tricky one. I'm isolating personally, but there is no longer any legal requirement on people to do so. I can see why your friend might think walking the dog where there aren't any people around is fine. The government has made it into a personal judgment call, so people will exercise their own personal judgement. 🤷‍♀️

Perfectlystill · 22/06/2022 06:12

Re walking the dog, I think it's fine if you can keep away from people, and you're not coughing.

I haven't had the energy to walk our dog so I've had the dog walker come round every day. The rest of the day, the dog snoozes on my bed with me - heaven for both of us.

Considering people like my friend are back to work still positive as its counted as sick now and not special covid leave/no pay. I doubt your friend walking a dog at night avoiding people is the risk tbh.

People don’t realise this is again spreading quickly again and aren’t testing, some do have cold symptoms. Some are feeling really crap. There are concerns with this new omicron variant hitting the lungs again and lack of boosters for people like my dad who is in his early 70s with health issues and no spring booster ( under 75s not eligible)

I’d be fine with that

Schmz · 22/06/2022 08:32

Day 3 for me
throat more sore
occasional little heart flutter
don’t know if I should be worried

picklemewalnuts · 22/06/2022 08:32

Walking your dog, outside is fine. It's not like she's sharing an indoor space with anyone for an hour.

We know people are at work in confined spaces either before testing positive or despite being positive.

A dog walk is nothing. Safer than a dog walker handover, I'd think.

Day 3 is my worst so far. It feels like my lungs are lined with tar, and it hurts to cough it free.

Firesidefox · 22/06/2022 08:39

Re dog walker handover, mine has keys to our house, so she opens our front door and our dog runs out. I don't think there's much danger there tbh.

I feel a bit more energetic today, though still very sore throat and weird taste in my mouth. What annoys me is that I know from previous experience that once I feel better, I still need to rest as otherwise I'll be bogged down with post covid exhaustion.

That depresses me as I'm normally very active and desperate to go swimming, running and cycling.

picklemewalnuts · 22/06/2022 08:41

Oh absolutely, Fox!
I'd just say both are very very low risk.

butterfly990 · 22/06/2022 09:17

My friend swears by pine needle tea for helping with coughs. Her father and herself used it with great results.

I have ordered some. Willing to drink almost anything to get rid of this cough

Allfurcoatandnoknickers · 22/06/2022 09:22

I tested positive Sunday afternoon. Feels comparable to sinusitis for me- had that a fair few times. Got a funny taste in my mouth which I sometimes have had with sinusitis too.
just feel spaced out and knackered

oopsfellover · 22/06/2022 09:25

Day 6 for me, still positive and now starting to get twitchy about weekend plans! 😀
Symptoms not that bad at all but a bit of a sore throat today. Woke up coughing in the night but that seems to have come and gone. @Schmz I’ve had little heart flutters too!
At least the weather is nice.

Firesidefox · 22/06/2022 09:38

Yes @picklemewalnuts to be honest my only worry is am I giving covid to the dog when I kiss her? Genuinely! I have googled and the internet is divided on this issue.

Sorry about your coughs to all those suffering. Mine has dissipated somewhat today, but I have been wearing a pantyliner in my pants til today as I was coughing so much I was leaking....

D0lphine · 22/06/2022 09:40

I'm also worried about the dog. Didn't know they could get it. I feel like it's low risk though

picklemewalnuts · 22/06/2022 09:41

Same here! I twitch every time he sneezes!

Full disclosure this was me- I walked the dog at 10pm.

Partner shouted at me about it and called me selfish.

He has also said he doesn't want me going in the kitchen so guess who has to bring me food every meal now hahaha

Perfectlystill · 22/06/2022 09:42

I also wondered about the dog!

I haven't tested since my positive test but am wondering when it might go negative. I'd quite like to see that just for the mental boost.

Is anyone else thinking of testing and if so, on what day? Today is day four for me - I tested positive first thing Sunday.

(Ps before anyone tells me, I know I don't HAVE to test, am just interested!)

Yep I did last night. Started over the weekend with a sore throat, headache and stuffy and runny nose. Did a LFT which was negative so upped my hay fever tablets but symptoms still there plus I've had the shits pretty much since Sunday. Did another one yesterday morning still negative. It wasn't until last night when even a jakemans didn't ease the throat pains and I looked up the symptoms that I decided to do another one. This time I swabbed one side of my throat and both nostrils. Pinged up more or less straight away then. I know a few people who have had negative tests in the morning and then a positive one later that day. I'm off work now and have to test again Sunday to see whether or not it's still positive. Apart from a headache and sore throat and being a bit achy I feel ok in myself although at the moment I'm paranoid I'm going to pass it on to my DCat so I spent the night sleeping in a face mask. Not sure if I can or not and the Cat probably thinks I look a right twat but he's old and has a heart murmur so I want to be extra careful especially as he sleeps next to me

2nd time I've tested positive within 6 weeks. I was just getting over the last bout. I am exhausted, snotty, coughing and sore throat and chest, loss of appetite, headache, sore eyes, feel worse this time than I did last. I initially thought my hayfever had gone into overdrive!

So did I! Wondered why my hay fever tablets were doing Jack poop

WhereDoesThisToiletGo · 22/06/2022 09:49

I started symptoms a week ago today onWednesday but didn't show positive until Thursday.
Same as most of you, achey snotty yucky cough. Zero energy.
Good news is - for me - it didn't last.
Aches gone by Sunday, still a bit of residual snot and cough but loads better.
Went for a walk yesterday (very rural) which I felt was OK.
So far DH hasn't caught it...

Not planning on going anywhere "public" until I test negative but I'm retired so don't have to worry about work.

bubblicious3 · 22/06/2022 09:50

I've just tested positive this morning. Felt weird, bit sinusy yesterday, then had an awful night with a fever last night. Now have v sore throat with white spots and a cough. Haven't had it since Nov 2020 so guess it was time! Shame I'm missing a wedding I've waited 3 years for tho 😬

I reported my +ve test on you gov site (or is it NHS?)
Yes, several texts received with code for covid app but I deleted it yonks ago.

BruceAndNosh · 22/06/2022 09:52

I'm looking at this as an unnecessarily unpleasant Booster!

He literally made me feel like I'd killed granny! The judgement was insane.

It was a 20 min walk at 10pm... I really don't think it's the end of the world. But I think actually it was just an excuse to shout at me again.
