Tested positive today - anyone else?

Tested positive this morning (Sunday) after negative test last night. I think I had it before a few months ago so am a bit annoyed to have it again.

Symptoms are feeling chesty, bit of a cough, painful mouth ulcers on back of tongue.

Anyone else along for the ride?

I’m pretty sure I got it from a co-worker last Tuesday/Wednesday. She had Covid the previous week and tested negative on day 5 and 6, so came back to work on her day 7. Although she still felt really sick 🙄
My symptoms started in the early hours of Monday morning.
Ive had a weird taste in my mouth today. Still eating but taste seems to have dulled a bit. Just very tired. Bit of back and chest pain but no cough yet.

Artwodeetoo · 21/06/2022 13:35

It's everywhere at work (hospital) at the moment. Thankfully we have more treatments at are disposal now and largely it's people catching it who are in with other things already (not great I know)- but it's heartbreaking locking wards down and unfortunately I expect we will lose some.

Perfectlystill · 21/06/2022 13:36

I think I caught it on a packed train on Thursday. I had a blocked nose on Friday night and was rummaging in my bathroom cupboard for decongestants.

On Saturday I felt odd with a sore throat, and tired, but tested negative.

On Sunday I woke up with a horrible taste in my mouth and tested positive.

So two and a half days from catching it to positive LFT.

I tested positive today. Only did it as a precaution because everyone around me seems to have it. No symptoms. I did have a slight headache on Saturday morning and felt quite tired, so maybe that's when it started? 🤷‍♀️ I assumed it was just a lack of sleep...

peppermintteas · 21/06/2022 13:42

Tested positive yesterday so didn't go work yesterday I've been told if I'm feeling well enough to come back into the office tomorrow. I work in HR and have face to face interviews to do Thursday apparently. I can't see that it's a good idea, but as there is no government restrictions work want me in the office.

bigbluebus · 21/06/2022 13:47

DH caught it from the jubilee weekend festivities. Symptoms started on Wednesday (negative test) but tested positive Thursday morning. DS and I isolated from him as soon as he got a positive test but we both started with symptoms on Saturday (negative tests) and tested positive Sunday.

scienceyesplease · 21/06/2022 13:54

Caught it from work, I think from a student. All the teachers of that class have been taken down by it.

That's terrible! And I don't think it's ok them blaming the government- they should act like a reasonable employer FFS.

But you don’t feel well enough, do you?

Schmz · 21/06/2022 14:51

Day 2 here -
feel exhausted
very sore throat and headache
feels more flu like than cold
grim

Whyarewehardofthinking · 21/06/2022 14:58

I caught it again 3 weeks ago for the 4th time; I am a secondary teacher. We suspected we had some cases before half term as we had a concerto of coughing in the exams and then half of SLT (we start the exams off) went down over the holidays along with some of the few invigilators we had. We have also had more than 30 students miss exams with confirmed cases.

I am honestly so tired of it now I am done. Not only was I ill enough to be in bed for 4 days (worse than Omicron in Jan) we lost another holiday and I had to say isolated at home as my DP is still struggling 18 months after being severely ill with it and also catching it 2 more times. He is actually leaving teaching in July as he can't keep up anymore.

This is apparently living with COVID. I sent a student home recently as she wet herself from coughing so hard. She came in about 15 days post COVID for an exam but was still so ill she wet herself. Students are so stressed about catching it again that loads are in masks. We have a parent in hospital in HDU. Not ventilated thankfully, but very ill.

Sorry, it has been a long few weeks whilst also not being 100% myself!

worriedatthistime · 21/06/2022 15:18

@peppermintteas see companies that say this bug me as there are still clear guidelines just now laws
It does say to stay home for 5 days if positive etc , although in next breath says about not needing to test so is wishy washy but any role that can be done from home or via teams should be when people have symptoms
Companies just end up with more people with it if someone comes in and it can ruin peoples holidays and plans As well.

worriedatthistime · 21/06/2022 15:20

@Whyarewehardofthinking its concerning isn't it
I know we have to learn to live with it but surely there is a medium somewhere
I mean i never gof coughs and colds 3/4 times a year , 2 at most in a bad year and also seemed to pass them on to multiple people like covid

peppermintteas · 21/06/2022 17:07

It is concerning, but I don't get sick pay, so as of Thursday if I feel well enough I'll have to go in. I'm also looking for a new job and only took this one as I was desperate for a job due to redundancy. It's not responsible, but I also need to pay my bills.

Agree. I really hope some researchers somewhere are working out how we stop this as otherwise we'll waste so much of our lives being ill

Quick question to those who have tested positive...are we supposed to report our positive tests to anyone, and if so, to whom? Didn't really think about that when I did it this morning, but I suppose I ought to be counted as a stat somewhere?!

TwilightSkies · 21/06/2022 18:29

I reported mine on the gov.uk website. Public Health phoned me a few hours later. Said if I tested negative 2 days in a row then I could go back to work (only if I feel well enough).
Im in Northern Ireland so the rules are probably different.

Chevyimpala67 · 21/06/2022 18:34

I'm sat in a&e with covid induced tachycardia

Feel so grim

Thanks, I have reported mine on the government website too. Mainly just because I think they ought to have an idea of case numbers. I don't think there are any remaining restrictions in England - just guidance. I will be isolating for a few days though!

picklemewalnuts · 21/06/2022 18:37

I reported mine using the code on the test. Thing is, it's now insisting I put a code in my nhs app so they can contact people who've been in contact with me. Two problems- I don't have the NHS app. I deleted it when it all went pear shaped. I haven't been in contact with anyone who doesn't know I'm ill.

DS2 came home from holiday with it Friday, but tested negative. He refused to test again, said it was hayfever.
I went to church Sunday morning, small church, everyone there now knows I have it.
Tested positive Monday afternoon.

Feel like I've been hit by a bus. Aches, itchy eyes, chesty cough, sore throat and throbbing head. Hey ho.

DS 2 is feeling much better now, so not long to go.

Oh no. Hope you feel better soon

worriedatthistime · 21/06/2022 20:07

@peppermintteas iit shouldn't be like that though should it we should have help and sick pay when they are still asking people to isolate even if its not now legal as it puts us in a moral dilemma but we have to eat and keep a roof over out heads to
Hope you feel better soon

I agree. I think everywhere should at least offer a certain number of sick days a year anyway, but yes especially with covid. It annoys me I can't even claim SSP until after day 3 being off, which has now changed back since covid apparently isn't a problem anymore. I feel really rough, but honestly can't afford to be off Thursday and Friday after already taking time off this month as my youngest has a sickness bug for a couple of days. It also annoys me that I can't work from home when sick, but this company is very backwards. Can't wait to find something else, but part-time jobs that are half decent paid seem to be scares

MsMoody · 21/06/2022 21:58

Had a bit of a hoarse voice this morning and I blamed it on sleeping with my mouth open due to hay fever. Didn’t pass all day so I took a test this evening and I’m positive. Don’t feel otherwise unwell at all so I really thought it was hay fever! Think I caught it Saturday.

D0lphine · 21/06/2022 23:56

Had a bit of a disagreement with a friend who has tested positive for covid. She walked her dog, but said it was ok at night with no people around.

What do we all think?
