Tested positive this morning (Sunday) after negative test last night. I think I had it before a few months ago so am a bit annoyed to have it again.

Symptoms are feeling chesty, bit of a cough, painful mouth ulcers on back of tongue.

Anyone else along for the ride?

I find chloraseptic spray really effective for razor blade throat

Mejuliene · 22/06/2022 21:42

Compared to a few on here I'm not doing too bad.
Symptoms started last Friday after a trip into town got home a felt absolutely knackered husband felt the same but that's no surprise!!
Woke up on Saturday after a restless night with a banging headache so we tested dh was positive I was negative.

Sunday still negative aches all over body as well as head ache
Monday still negative but felt a bit better so spent the day gardening
Tuesday test was positive and paying for not resting much on Monday as head banging again and nothing would shift it
Today woke up feeling much better headaches gone and tiredness seems to have eased off I do have a snotty nose and have sneezed a lot today but now it just feels like a head cold. Dh is more or less the same as me so hopefully it clears up soon we have a family event at the weekend it's outdoors and our contagious period should be over by then but unless we are negative I would prefer not to risk it

I'm using difflam which is similar

Perfectlystill · 22/06/2022 22:01

Razor blades every time I swallow, too, @Chevyimpala67 - I'm having to steel myself to drink and force down two glasses of squash at a time.

I've been using difflam but chloraseptic is also good.

Day 4 and I'm sneezing a lot too. And awful taste in my mouth no matter how much I brush or gargle etc.

Oh yeah I tested today which was stupid but I felt so much better I thought well maybe?

MASSIVE positive line. Like a joke one!

So don't test on day four is my advice!

Sorry to hear that :(
I've just had mint tea and honey which was OK

Strange...I'm not sleeping due to pain/feeling ill...:(

That doesn't sound good. Days 1 and 2 my body hurt... I found long hot baths helped. Hope you manage to get a decent night's sleep tonight.

WhereDoesThisToiletGo · 22/06/2022 22:22

Feeling human at last a week after starting symptoms. Bit of residual snot and grot on chest but not the unbearable coughing.
But lost my sense of taste- DH did a stir fry and it tasted of nothing. He said it was delicious!

catfunk · 22/06/2022 23:04

I'm on day 4. First time but it's honestly no worse than bad colds I've had.
Started with a sore throat, now very congested and a cough that comes and goes. I'm asthmatic so was expecting it to be really hard on my chest but I've had worse. Had an awful taste in my mouth though!
Im working from home so able to have an extra hour in bed on a morning which helps.

Ps. I can't believe people are dithering about taking their dog out - just do it!

D0lphine · 23/06/2022 02:15

Anyone else feeling a bit queesy?

Feart · 23/06/2022 03:29

@D0lphine

Yes I’m feeling queasy! I’m also really struggling to sleep which is not helping my recovery.

Toomanylosthours · 23/06/2022 05:31

I spoke too soon re: sleeping. Last night I managed about 2 hours on and off. Couldn't stop sneezing and am conscious of my breathing. Seems a little faster and shallow.

How's everyone else feeling today?

Sorry to hear you had a bad night. Poor sleep is so awful.
I'm very congested this morning and still have hayfever type symptoms and a banging head (day 4).
I was supposed to have a job interview today which they've said I can do via Teams instead of in person. Not looking forward to that at all!

Second dreadful night here - throat is so sore and nothing is touching it. I have difflam but that just hurts to spray. I found an old tube of Tyrozets and they helped a bit but you can't buy them anymore so I'm rationing and only have a couple left. This is so different to last time - less like flu more like awful tonsillitis ☹️

I slept fitfully.
Throat horrendous this morning. Its so swollen and red.
The Dr is supposed to be phoning me this morning about another issue (I've been waiting 4 weeks..) and I might ask of there's anything she can prescribe for the pain (I'm already taking ibuprofen and cocodamol...)
The difflam spray really really stings so I've switched to difflam lozenges...
I was coughing last night and there is definitely "stuff" on my chest I just can't bring it up. Ugh.

bubblicious3 · 23/06/2022 07:02

@Chevyimpala67 ooh I might see if DH can get my difflam lozenges. Also need night nurse, something has to help me sleep. I'm missing a wedding I've waited for for 3 years, gutted.

Oh, I'm SO sorry :( that's awful for you :(

I missed my dn graduation on Tuesday :(

I was supposed to be meeting the Bishop of Leicester tomorrow. Obviously not now.

I got my difflam lozenges online but I'm sure bigger pharmacies will have them.

MsMoody · 23/06/2022 07:13

I’m not suffering too badly with the respiratory symptoms but I’ve had the lower back pain that’s been reported!

Me too!

picklemewalnuts · 23/06/2022 07:22

Those with terrible throats, you may have secondary tonsillitis infections. Might need antibiotics.

Night nurse didn't help me so I took phenergan last night
I got a couple of hours

libbytrois · 23/06/2022 07:27

Banging head here too. Painkillers not really helping. Symptoms started Saturday and I could cope with most apart from this 😞. Migraine sufferer so perhaps I'm effected worse?

Firesidefox · 23/06/2022 07:39

How would you tell a covid sore throat from secondary tonsilitis @picklemewalnuts ?

I slept well last night but have woken up (day 5) still feeling shattered and crap. And I put my back out yesterday so had to call the doc for diazepam to tide me over til I can see a physio! I was literally having back spasms - never had those before and do not recommend. That'll teach me to clear out my youngest's bedroom when I'm ill...

Now my 14yr old DD has tested positive. Here we go...

Neverendingdust · 23/06/2022 07:44

Half of my colleagues have suddenly started with hay fever symptoms over night 😷 lots of sneezing and coughing in the office. I’m guessing it really is just everywhere.

bubblicious3 · 23/06/2022 07:50

@Chevyimpala67 can you buy phenergan over the counter?
