Tested positive today - anyone else?

Tested positive this morning (Sunday) after negative test last night. I think I had it before a few months ago so am a bit annoyed to have it again.

Symptoms are feeling chesty, bit of a cough, painful mouth ulcers on back of tongue.

Anyone else along for the ride?

Tested positive for the first time today, feels really odd to have it now when I was so scared to get it for months in the beginning.

Same. I was scared at the start, but not worried at all now.
Isn't the variant doing the rounds now really mild anyway? Probably the best time to get Covid now.

mrsfeatherbottom · 05/07/2022 09:38

@XenoBitch - I certainly haven't had it mild and quite a few on this thread would say the same!

I'm day 12 and my cold symptoms are getting worse.

Anyone else get really nauseous at night? I can't figure out if it's my antibiotics or covid, my head is a bit dizzy and 'full'. I'm trying to line my stomach before the anti-bs 🤢

Yes the nausea !!!
I’m week 3 now and no nausea but week 1-2 the nausea was awful !!!!!

Agree - for many this latest variant is more flu like than mild cold -
seems to be a good 7-10 days plus

I reckon it’s been too long since we got boosters - need to fire up the next round of boosters I think !!

For some balance, I tested (strongly) positive 8 days ago, all 4 of us in our family had it last week- seems very contagious.
Each of us felt stay-off-work ill for 3 days (heavy cold symptoms- sore throat, headache, stuffy runny nose, slight cough). No GI symptoms.
We all recovered quickly last week althoufh I have a slight leftover nasal catarrh when I blow my nose (yuk) but we all feel fully fit.
We are all triple jabbed.

LIZS · 05/07/2022 11:05

Ds was more acutely ill with flu symptoms, tested negative by day 5. I have had more protracted illness, with runny nose, cough, weariness, disrupted sleep, headaches, congestion, loose stomach, wooly head - enough to be happy to stay isolated in bed with tennis on and yet to test negative a week in.

RichardMarxisinnocent · 05/07/2022 11:38

I tested positive this morning. I felt a bit odd Sunday evening - very tired and a bit weak but I'd had a busy full on two days before that so assumed it was just recovering from that. Then yesterday I almost fainted in the supermarket, and by the afternoon felt atrocious. Really tired, really weak, quite achey, awful headache and very nauseous. I spent the afternoon and evening going between lying in bed and lying in the bathroom floor so I was near the loo in case I was sick. I ate nothing after breakfast.

I don't feel quite as horrendous today, but thought it sensible to test (work for the NHS and today is a day I'd usually test anyway, though am on leave). The test line was darker than the control line! I really hope this doesn't last 7-10 days, I am rarely ill and not sure how well I'd cope with 10 days of feeling like this.

WarriorN · 05/07/2022 12:42

I'm on to the day the nose starts streaming, my tongue feels burny odd (and hands and feet) and I have to eat absolutely everything.

Tested positive on Saturday, not sure if this is day 3 or not. (Tuesday) not quite as tired so that's better than the last time I had omicron.

HangingOver · 05/07/2022 16:56

Isn't the variant doing the rounds now really mild anyway?

Not in our house. Wiped everyone off their feet for at least 4 days.

I'm on day 4 now and my head is agony. Still not up. So bored!

WarriorN · 05/07/2022 18:32

Mild in terms of hospitalisation.

Can be bad for some people in terms of self management at home - I've been floored again after a bout of omicron in January. Like flu - some find it's a sniffle, others are floored for several weeks.

I don't think I'm quite as bad as I was in Jan but if it weren't for isolation I'd definitely be off work for the week.

Day 12 here. Tests been negative for a couple of days however have developed a barking cough throughout periods of the day. Anyone suffering the same

Cocolapew · 05/07/2022 19:23

I managed to stay out of bed for most of the day apart from a 2 hour nap at 4. I have a dodgy lung due to Lupus and have had a couple of clots in it so I'm a bit paranoid about lying too much.
Head feels less woolly and I've eaten a McDonald's and DH brought in Vienetta.
I've been staying away from everyone, DH has COPD but he doesn't seem fussed about me staying downstairs.

Travelban · 05/07/2022 20:18

Yes barking cough here too. It's really getting me down.

lifeturnsonadime · 05/07/2022 23:10

Hi just joining the covid positive crew.

I started with symptoms Saturday night but tested negative for the first two days despite having a raging fever which left clothes and bedding wet and sleeping round the clock. Finally tested positive this morning. I actually feel slightly better today in that I'm not having to sleep around the clock! The worst symptoms are the brain fog and painful legs, so much so that I can barely walk to the bathroom. For the 2 days before I tested positive this morning, I couldn't even listen to an audio book I was so exhausted.

I'm also struggling to eat, ate some soup earlier, first food since sunday morning and it's gone straight through me.

Definitely not just a cold for me.

Question though about tests, I have now used my last NHS one from when they are free, where are you all getting covid tests from?

Hope everyone starts to feel better soon.

mrsfeatherbottom · 06/07/2022 07:20

Day 13 for me and now I have sinus pain - getting so fed up with symptom after symptom. Been awake since 5am.

startingoveragainagain · 06/07/2022 09:40

Hello - tested positive yesterday, my husband has tested positive today. My parents who are staying in their campervan in my garden are both still fine.

I felt fine yesterday, had a sore throat on monday night, a mild cold yesterday, feel dreadful today.

i've had all three jabs (last one just before chritsmas), never had actual covid before. I did have bird flu many years ago and that was really bad!

HangingOver · 06/07/2022 11:22

The sinus pain is absolutely horrible. Just order some sudafed, hopefully that will help.

HangingOver · 06/07/2022 11:22

Ordered* that should say...not commanding anyone to do anything!!

smilingthroughgrittedteeth · 06/07/2022 14:27

Day 5 for me and tested negative but OMG the tiredness is getting to me. I can barely stand up and just want to sleep all day which isnt possible with 3 children under 7 🥱

DP is on day 7 and tested negative today too, hes feeling a bit lethargic but covid has really messed with his asthma so he is still breathless.

DS is on day 3 and was up all night coughing, that seems to be his only symptom.

WheredidIputmymarbles · 06/07/2022 14:34

How long did everyone stay positive for?
I tested positive last Wednesday and I’m still showing a strong positive this morning.
I feel much better than last week but so, so tired.
I am supposed to be going back to work tomorrow. I can not afford anymore time off as I don’t get paid for sick leave.

LIZS · 06/07/2022 14:38

@WheredidIputmymarbles similar timeline I'm a day ahead of you having tested positive last Tuesday. Was still positive yesterday and much more tired today despite feeling better first thing.

slavetothekittens · 06/07/2022 14:40

Just tested positive for the 2nd time. First time was 2020 and it was awful. Hoping it will be milder this time.

Tested as I had a headache and a familiar cough....Luckily I've got a food delivery booked for this evening. Was supposed to be going on a shopping trip with DD1 tomorrow, that will have to wait now.

Phrenologistsfinger · 06/07/2022 15:03

@WheredidIputmymarbles day 6 and strong positive for me, total dye stealer.

maeveiscurious · 06/07/2022 15:49

Day 15 here been negative for 7 days still have a cough, short of breath and a sore throat

HangingOver · 06/07/2022 19:24

Just completely lost sense of taste today. No appetite either so eating pointless. Sinus pain is unbelievable !
