I have woken up feeling breathless, tired, achey and tight of chest.

LFT negative but I've booked a PCR as I want to see elderly mum this w/e so want to be sure.

I know it seems that the current variant BA.2 seems to be a bit worse than Omicron that everyone had at Christmas, but I'm not sure what the symptoms are.

If you have covid now, what are your symptoms?

@Saltyoledog

Tested positive yesterday- I could WFH then but today no way, I’m so congested that my teeth are throbbing, ear pain, head pain. Am slightly dizzy and feel generally unwell.

I’m actually worried that I’ve become so rough so quickly. Everyone else seems to have a slow onset of symptoms. I’m scared of what may be coming.

This was me. Last Tuesday I had a bit of a sore throat and tested positive that evening. On Wednesday, I woke up in the early hours, couldn't sleep, whole body hurt, temperature, shivering etc. spent the day on the sofa. I had actually started to feel ok later on that day and felt mostly ok by the next day apart from a cough. I hope you bounce back as quickly as I did.

I thought I was on day 6 but if the first day is day 0 I must be on day 5, which is much more frustrating than it should be. Who starts counting at zero, FFS?

Still really tired, dizzy every time I stand up or even sit in a chair. I tried to work for an hour this afternoon, and it was a mistake. Then I took a warm bath and that was a mistake too: it made me feel really weird.

And this evening I’ve started coughing. I haven’t had much of a cough up to this point so that’s an annoying new feature.

I’m so fed up with this. I’m hardly ever ill and I hate it. I just want to get back to work. The unbearable temptation to push through. Argh.

Day 9 & still positive. Terrible headache & feel like a bad cold. I feel worse today than yesterday so annoying but not unwell enough for antibiotics.

LemonJuiceFromConcentrate · 31/03/2022 10:15

Day 4 here, second time having it. My first was in October last year (probably Delta). Then had my booster just before Christmas.

Feeling a bit rubbish but not too bad so far. Like a rotten cold

Rassy · 31/03/2022 10:31

Day 6 since first symptoms started (weird scratchy throat, one side only) so did LFT. It went straight to a strong positive before the control line formed! The positive line is much stronger than my first positive result

Anyone else lost some hearing?

glitterelf · 31/03/2022 10:48

@MyBeloved

Anyone else lost some hearing?
Yes my left ear has been feeling blocked for at least two weeks, I quite often get water trapped behind my eardrum leaving me with limited hearing but since testing positive on Monday both ears are blocked and I'm suffering with tinnitus it's horrible. Are both your ears affected ?
MyBeloved · 31/03/2022 10:58

Oh no, sorry you're suffering too! It is just my right ear...feel like I have about 50% hearing loss in it :(

glitterelf · 31/03/2022 11:38

It's crap isn't it I feel like I've aged a good 20 yrs and experiencing what's to come!! What other symptoms do you have ?

Trype · 31/03/2022 16:06

Is anyone else having sharp hard pains that make you wince out of the blue?

Awful! I’m up and down I start to feel a little better and then I’m back down again. It’s early doors yet though, only day 2

Trype · 31/03/2022 16:16

Head pains that should be

LadyEloise1 · 31/03/2022 17:36

Would those sharp head pains be neuralgia ?
Like a needle being put through your head ?

freshcarnation · 31/03/2022 17:52

Waiting for pcr result but pretty sure it will be positive. Day 3 of symptoms. Migraine all day yesterday until early hours. Vomited 5 times overnight. So cold I just can't get warm. Lung pain. Rang GP and got antibiotics as I've had pneumonia before and this feels the same

Normando91 · 31/03/2022 21:01

Woke up on Tuesday with a horribly sore throat- like when you sleep with the heating on and it completely dries your throat. Constant headache and backache throughout the day. Wednesday much the same but figured I’d caught a cold as was testing negative (two days in a row) so doped up on Lemsip and cold & flu capsules. This morning, very breathless, tight pain in chest, completely blocked nose yet running like a tap. Brain fog, headache and throats still sore but better than previous two days, little bit of a cough. Tested positive this morning. Hoping as it’s day three of symptoms I’ll be over the worst of it soon, but it’s hit me like a train.

I realise this thread is a week or 2 old but I found it useful to know what to expect as I’m going through BA.2. For the record I tested positive last Wednesday and here are my symptoms:
Day 1: mild sore throat
Day 2: mild sore throat and mild cold-like symptoms
Day 3: temperature, fatigue, sore throat
Day 4: sore throat worse, like fire all down my throat and into chest; started to be really snotty, lots of mucus at back of my throat. Worse in evenings as other posters have said.
Day 5: similar, woke up in night from painful throat
Day 6: rivers of snot, still got fiery throat
Day 7: coughing but it’s a productive, not dry cough; sore throat a little better; still pretty snotty.
Day 7 is today and I’m still getting a strong positive line on the lft. I feel not that bad- like I would have gone into work back in the old days- but probably would have been one of those ones where I thought I was ok to go in but then wasn’t really. Going to take it easy and try and sleep. Expecting to feel worse in the evening as I have done the last few days.
