Has anyone else never had covid?

Just about everyone I know has now had covid at some point over last few years. It’s been in our household twice and we didn’t isolate from each other but I never tested positive. I have had times when I’ve felt ill and then found close contacts have tested positive so I’ve been sure I must have but always tested negative. Not complaining at all, if anything I consider myself lucky, just think it’s odd and I seem to be a minority.

Nope! Not had it. I go down the pub several times a week, go to cafes, got a 5 year old in school. I mix with lots of people at work. I’ve been in close contact with people who’ve been positive and not a sausage for me. Think I’m immune!!

lifeuphigh · 18/03/2022 21:29

4/5 of us in this house haven't had it despite not isolating at all from the 1 DC that did have it. I can think of plenty of other families I know that haven't had it either.

Until last week, there hadn't been a single case in DS' nursery and now I think about 5 kids are off with it. I'm sure it will catch us soon enough!

purplepaintedpineapple · 18/03/2022 21:47

I haven't and neither has my husband and a lot of friends haven't either. All my children have had it once but we kept them well isolated 😷

Watercoloursky · 19/03/2022 08:11

@Watercoloursky

So far, me - but I might be jinxing that as my OH has just tested positive today. We're both triple jabbed and have managed to avoid it for the last couple of years despite some close contacts (colleagues, a family member we saw over Christmas who tested positive the next day, etc) but it's finally got him! I'm still testing negative, but let's see - I'm not going to try to avoid him.
Yep, jinxed it - tested positive today! Not feeling awful, just a bit achey and sniffly - fingers crossed it stays that way!

As far as we know, DH and I haven't had it. And ds is at university and said that some of his housemates had it, but he didn't. So I assume the vaccine is doing its job for us all. However, DH and I have been WFH throughout and DH is now back in the office 2-3 days a week so we'll see if it continues.

My mum tested positive with the original variant but had no symptoms (she tested because she was having a procedure in hospital).

I did get pinged a couple of weeks back as a close contact which I assume was from train I didn't know contact tracing was still a thing! Although I was in Belfast last weekend and had to give details in the Ulster Museum. Nowhere else though.

I currently have it for the first time. I’m isolating from DH and DS who have never had it. Most of my work colleagues (school) haven’t had it until this week. Most of my close friends haven’t had it. IMO the only reason cases won’t be officially “through the roof” in coming weeks will be because there won’t be free testing any more. People will know they probably have it but it won’t be official.

ChittyChittyBoomBoom · 20/03/2022 19:25

Not me as far as I know! I’ve worked as a teacher (infants) throughout and didn’t get it when my two dds got it (separately). No idea how I’ve avoided it tbh but I’m sure my days are numbered 🙈.

neveradullmoment99 · 21/03/2022 15:57

Well not had it in 2 years and tested positive on Sunday. Even my children have had it and I never caught it. I work in a school and cases are through the roof again. However, they were really bad at xmas time and I didn;t catch it. My advice? Never say never!!!

If I hadn't tested, I would be thinking I just had a bit of a cold tbh. I would probably be in work tomorrow!
grapewines · 21/03/2022 16:03

Not yet. Nor has my mother or brother.

GD12 · 21/03/2022 16:57

Managed to avoid it until daughter brought it home from nursery on Friday. Now we all have it,positive today.

Seveninahouse · 22/03/2022 07:42

I haven't. Unvaxxed but wear FFP2 mask indoors (in public & at work) and still socially distance, even with friends...

MakeUsACuppa · 22/03/2022 08:28

I thought I'd swerved it but tested positive today, really faint line but definitely a line.

I assumed I had a cold but a work colleague tested positive so I thought I'd best do a test.

I'm guessing today is classed as day 1, wish they would stop changing the rules as I'm trying to work out when I next test. Think it's fuddled my brain!

ShinyPikachu · 22/03/2022 08:37

We haven't had it at all in our household despite having two teens (one regularly going out with friends and the other in school). My parents and 3 closest friends (and their households) haven't had it either.

Almost every one of my aunts/uncles and cousins seem to have caught it though, a couple of them have had it twice. We don't live near them so have only seen them rarely.

GrendelsGrandma · 22/03/2022 09:13

I hadn't until this week. DD been in nursery and school the whole time. Don't worry, you'll get your chance Grin

Mrsjayy · 22/03/2022 16:50

I tested positive yesterday I knew I would jinx it im blaming this thread 🙄😄

balalake · 22/03/2022 16:51

Not had it. Neither has my mum.

Munkki · 22/03/2022 16:53

Still here. Dh and dc had delta but no one of us has had omicron.

riveted1 · 22/03/2022 17:02

Have never tested positive or suspected I'd had it, despite being at higher risk of exposure than average. I have to test for work and am so used to one line I think I'd be really shocked if I saw two

Feel like I'm jinxing myself and will immediately test positive now!

neveradullmoment99 · 22/03/2022 22:33

NEVER had a line! Until Sunday 🥴
That's working in a school, my kids having it. 2 years I dodged it.

13cap · 23/03/2022 08:47

Never had it , not really careful don’t think I need to be - rarely wore a mask. Family members have had it I never caught it. Had 2 jabs never bothered with a booster.

NellGwynne · 23/03/2022 09:23

How do you know the variant?
Munkki · 23/03/2022 13:09

@NellGwynne It was last summer when delta was the main strain.

LoganberryJam · 23/03/2022 14:52

Posted on this thread a few days ago to say I'd never had it... then got a line today...!
