Has anyone else never had covid?

Just about everyone I know has now had covid at some point over last few years. It’s been in our household twice and we didn’t isolate from each other but I never tested positive. I have had times when I’ve felt ill and then found close contacts have tested positive so I’ve been sure I must have but always tested negative. Not complaining at all, if anything I consider myself lucky, just think it’s odd and I seem to be a minority.

@Duracellbunnywannabe

I hadn’t until yesterday.
Same as me. Thought I'd escaped even after others in the house having it previously. Luckily just feel like I have a cold at the moment so hopefully it stays that way
Mrsjayy · 16/03/2022 08:25

I haven't had it my Dd had it other family members have had it. I don't know how I've avoided it as its rife here at the moment. Saying that I've probably just jinxed it!

Cottagepieandpeas · 16/03/2022 08:26

I haven't, neither has my partner.

I work outside the home 2 days per week and use public transport in London on those days.

I feel as if it's going to catch up with me in the next few weeks but I'm still trying hard to avoid it. (Holiday booked in April 🤞)

Ragwort · 16/03/2022 08:27

No - and haven't been 'careful', work in retail .... neither has my DH, DS or elderly DM (even though she was in hospital for non covid issues).

TheRealHousewife · 16/03/2022 08:29

I haven’t unless I’ve been asymptomatic. I am clinically vulnerable so I have been very cautious. Face masks in shops, not visiting pubs, restaurants or cinemas. Shop online etc.

DogandMog · 16/03/2022 08:32

Had the tiniest hint of “something” April 2020. Slight tickly throat, bleachy airways and a couple of bedding drenching night sweats. No other symptoms, not even feeling 1% offkey. So maybe was an asymptomatic case with hindsight? Haven’t been ill at all (viral/cold) since 2018 ish.

thesugarbumfairy · 16/03/2022 08:33

None of us have had it unless asymptomatic. The kids have been tested randomly for school since they got the kits, and they've never shown positive either.

TheRealHousewife · 16/03/2022 08:33

Sorry forgot to mention my OH had suspected covid early on before testing was available and I also spent a day with a friend who tested positive the following day. The second instance I self tested daily and didn’t test positive. I have a theory that my over active immune system saw the virus off. I have several autoimmune diseases. It’s all very interesting. I still can’t get my head around it can kill people on one hand and not show symptoms on the other 🤷‍♀️

Juno22 · 16/03/2022 08:34

Why would people be smug or proud for not having caught it? I've seen this on other social media as well.

I haven't had it, but it's nothing to be proud of. It's just luck, the same as with any other virus. I'm not better than other people because I haven't caught it.

GeneLovesJezebel · 16/03/2022 08:35

Me.

TheRealHousewife · 16/03/2022 08:37

@coloradoqueen

I could've written your post, until last week 😂 I was convinced I had some magical immunity as I'd been in contact with it and not caught it several times.
With reference to my previous posts … On the other hand I’m aware I could still catch it 😬
ResurrectionInfinity · 16/03/2022 08:39

Almost half the people in the UK’s first challenge trial where they had virus dribbled up their nose and their nose pegged shut for a while didn’t catch it. At least one has caught it since though.

Specsandflowers · 16/03/2022 08:43

Never having felt sick from sick doesn't mean you never caught it.

Some of us can catch it but be completely asymptomatic.

CeeceeBloomingdale · 16/03/2022 08:46

No, DH and DDs have all had it separately. No one on my side of the family has had it.

CeeceeBloomingdale · 16/03/2022 08:48

I have tested regularly throughout due work so fairly sure I’ve avoided it so far.

Fayekrista · 16/03/2022 08:49

Nope (myself, 2 ds 13yrs old & 7 months)
Well not that we know of anyway. Have tested 100+ times I reckon. Son still tests 2x a week! (School rules)
Have always followed the rules but soon as they were lifted I.e masks in shops we stopped doing it.
I've been for meal, to the pub etc when permitted. Been in close contact with several family/friends that have had it & wrong seem to be immune!

THNG5 · 16/03/2022 08:51

Not yet but my 4 year old currently has it (no social distancing going on!). We're a family of 6 and so far, he's the only one infected. He's absolutely fine though, literally no symptoms. The only reason I tested him was he felt a bit warm on Sunday.

carehomeowner · 16/03/2022 08:52

I hadn't had it and when we had a large outbreak in January I moved into the care home and for three weeks provided care to numbers of residents with Covid. I was up close and personal to Covid for three weeks solidly. I have been exposed to it numerous times before then, including my daughter getting delta and me not getting it.

Then last week I got it. I thought it was immune. I was not .....

JesusMaryAndJosephAndTheWeeDon · 16/03/2022 08:55

Similar to you I have never had a positive test.

I was dreadfully ill in late Feb 2020 with a raging high temperature and horrific choking cough but at the time they only tested in hospital and only suspected Covid if you had been abroad.

Then end of 2021 I had an illness with a cough, temperature and tiredness. I did a test and got a negative result, so I assumed it was just a really nasty cold. Subsequently my husband developed similar symptoms, he tested positive, I did another test and was negative again. Not sure if I had something else or just tested too early and too late.

110APiccadilly · 16/03/2022 08:56

I've not had a positive test. DH and I might have had it really early on before testing was available, but we'll never know now.

I've not been in the slightest bit "careful" either. I've not broken the law, but that's as far as it goes - I was working face to face in autumn 2020, have been going to the gym whenever it's open, etc. We've been identified as close contacts once, but I suspect we've been close contacts more than that, just without being contacted by T&T.

sanityisamyth · 16/03/2022 08:58

I haven't and I haven't been particularly careful. I had a primary school age child and a hobby involving lots of people. Very lucky!

ivfbabymomma1 · 16/03/2022 08:58

I haven't but my DH has

sanityisamyth · 16/03/2022 08:59

Not that I know of! I don't know that many people who have!

PollyPerkins87 · 16/03/2022 08:59

I hadn't until last week. Still feel a bit rubbish now with headaches and feeling run down.

kagerou · 16/03/2022 09:01

I haven't had it yet and neither have my parents or DD but I feel like its only a matter of time :/
