Has anyone else never had covid?

Just about everyone I know has now had covid at some point over last few years. It’s been in our household twice and we didn’t isolate from each other but I never tested positive. I have had times when I’ve felt ill and then found close contacts have tested positive so I’ve been sure I must have but always tested negative. Not complaining at all, if anything I consider myself lucky, just think it’s odd and I seem to be a minority.

No one in my family has had it and know loads who haven't. I think statistically the majority of the population haven't.

StiggyZardust · 16/03/2022 09:03

DH, DS and I haven't had it. I've been working in a mass vaccination centre since they opened, I think my immune system is super charged!

ninnynonny · 16/03/2022 09:04

Nope. Almost everyone I know has had it at least once, sometimes more and I simply haven't. I have been careful but also work with people in a setting where it has been rife so am really surprised.
Maybe I just have immunity - have been triple vaxxed but so have those I know who have had it or go it now. It's really quite odd

HamCob · 16/03/2022 09:05

I managed to go for 2 years without catching it, working in a primary school throughout. During this time DH and our children tested positive as did lots of close contacts.
Thought I was immune then tested positive last week!

Gherkingreen · 16/03/2022 09:06

I haven't had it yet, only one of our family of four (mid teen) has had it, early autumn last year. It's down to luck.

Icecreamlover63 · 16/03/2022 09:06

Both me and my husband have it now. We tested positive yesterday. Just cold symptoms at the moment 🤞

Cabbagepie · 16/03/2022 09:07

Given the high rate of asymptomatic cases and the long period before testing was readily available, I think many people will have had Covid without knowing. I count myself in that group. Having never had any symptoms, I was confirmed to have Covid antibodies as part of Bio Bank research. This was before I received my first jab.

PrincessPaws · 16/03/2022 09:08

@Duracellbunnywannabe

I hadn’t until yesterday.

I have never tested positive . I've done lateral flow tests at least twice a week since December 2020 . I have done four PCR tests as a close contact . I've also done 3 antibody tests and never got a positive for antibodies until after my second vaccination.
I haven't been ill at all with anything since Christmas 2019 . I wonder if I had Covid then ?

I had a fever , fatigue , terrible cough , a rash , patchy tongue and felt like I was breathing through cotton wool .
I was hoping that I'd get a positive result from my first antibody test . I didn't , but as it was a year after I was ill it possibly wouldn't any way .

I had my booster at the beginning of November so am expecting to get Omicron some time soon .

I worked on a covid ward in a secure psychiatric hospital and the very first person I knew who had it was a patient who was extremely unwell. This was at the very very beginning of covid. The day before they confirmed they had it they had been coughing all over me. We had very very basic flimsy paper mask for PPE.
Everyone else on the ward caught it apart from
Me. Later
On it the pandemic my kids and ex caught it and I still didn’t. I was doing lateral flows and PCR tests regularly because of working in a hospital. Again nothing..

TheOrigRights · 16/03/2022 09:12

Not me.
My older son had it over Xmas and we didn't isolate him (very small house and it was Xmas) I've been close contacts with people, but (fingers crossed) haven't fallen yet.
I'm actually on high alert having spent time with a friend on Saturday who tested +ve on Monday.

Loads and loads of people seem to have it at the moment, but I'm double vaccinated and boosted so hopefully if I get it I'll recover quickly.

RewildingAmbridge · 16/03/2022 09:12

I was you until Monday, have had lots of close contact with positive cases, worked throughout with people who have a high risk of Covid refuse to be vaccinated or follow social distancing etc, all of my colleagues have had it at least once, testing daily at points 3 times a week at least so would be detected if I had it. DS had it and slept on me for three nights and I still didn't get it, I've had several antibody tests all negative. I genuinely thought I must be immune then bam it got me. It's been about six months since my last booster so I think it must be wearing off.

axolotlfloof · 16/03/2022 09:14

Family of 4 - nome of us have had it - living normal lives. DH key worker and worked in workplace throughout, 2 secondary kids, I probably see less people but still go to the pub occasionally.
I like to think we have superpowers, but probably just lucky.

ArtichokeAardvark · 16/03/2022 09:15

I tested positive for the first time this morning Sad

emmathedilemma · 16/03/2022 09:16

I know lots of people who haven't had it (myself included) but it does seem to be doing the rounds more now than it's ever done. Although that might just be because people I know are going back in offices etc.

Crystal12345 · 16/03/2022 09:17

There’s 4 of us in my house and not one of us have tested positive yet. Always tested when had symptoms. Some of my family have now had it twice. My two brothers both have it atm and I was with them within the week so was expecting to get it this time but nothing yet.

toppocket · 16/03/2022 09:19

Me and DS still haven't had it but DH and DDs have! I slept with the kids when they did and isolated with them to provide care. All before I'd been vaccinated too. Strange

TenoringBehind · 16/03/2022 09:20

3 out of 4 of us in this house.

Salamander91 · 16/03/2022 09:27

I hadn't until 10 days ago. My youngest managed to pass it to everyone in the house. My SIL works regularly with covid patients but only managed to get covid after seeing my DS Blush

Sooverthemill · 16/03/2022 09:30

I haven't. Neither has my DH nor our DD who lives with us. We are super careful as two of us are CEV and basically we act as if we are still shielding. DS and his GF had it at Xmas . DD and her DH also haven't had it

Mindymomo · 16/03/2022 09:31

We’ve been relatively careful and up to last week none of us 4 here have tested positive. Now we’ve all got covid and all are unwell to various degrees. I have spent the last 2 years really anxious about how well I would cope with covid and I am very pleased my body has done ok as I was convinced I would end up really ill.

Moonface123 · 16/03/2022 09:34

No, on one in my family has had it yet.
l work in a busy supermarket, both myself and eldest son who works in a bank carried on working throughout and my youngest also works with me part time at weekends. l am sure at some stage it will catch up with us, no one in my extended family has had it yet either.

Jules912 · 16/03/2022 09:35

I hadn't until Sunday😢
Thought I was immune when DD got it in January and sneezed in my face, obviously not...

Touch wood, not yet. My 3 DD’s have all had it at some point but I’ve not caught it. I’ve actually not been careful either really, been on trains, tubes, theatres, cinema etc all without a mask as i was exempt cause they were giving me panic attacks. Only had 1 AZ vaccine because it scared me when I had it - oh the fun of anxiety.

I’m sure my time is coming though, I can only hope I get a mild case 🤞🏻
