Has anyone else never had covid?

Just about everyone I know has now had covid at some point over last few years. It’s been in our household twice and we didn’t isolate from each other but I never tested positive. I have had times when I’ve felt ill and then found close contacts have tested positive so I’ve been sure I must have but always tested negative. Not complaining at all, if anything I consider myself lucky, just think it’s odd and I seem to be a minority.

I don’t want to jinx myself, but as far as we know, neither DH, DD2 or I have had it. Neither have my parents, brother and SiL or the PiLs

DD1 had it but she’s away at uni so doesn’t live with us.

I can’t say I’ve been particularly careful. I went to a large music festival in the summer - tested regularly afterwards, but none of us caught it. Lots of friends have had it, DD2’s boyfriend had it but despite being in our house/car/DD went to the cinema, etc, she didn’t catch it from him. Both my bosses have had it twice and despite being in the office I didn’t catch it from them. DH’s employee caught it but DH didn’t catch it despite fairly close contact at work. DD has been at college where it zipped through her class but she didn’t catch it - we’ve all done regular LFTs and had no symptoms

We all had an absolute stinker of a cold a few months back - lots of LFTs and PCR were all negative - I did 2 PCR as I felt so shite, I wasn’t convinced the first negative result was correct

My fingers are very tightly crossed now I’ve said all that!

OldTinHat · 16/03/2022 10:02

I've not had it, touch wood.

elastamum · 16/03/2022 10:08

Neither DP or I have ever tested positive but I am pretty sure we both had it at the start of march before the first lockdown as we were both ill after traveling for work. We will never know.

123Shush · 16/03/2022 10:08

@coloradoqueen

I could've written your post, until last week 😂 I was convinced I had some magical immunity as I'd been in contact with it and not caught it several times.
Me too! Now I’m in bed on day 4 of getting it and I am feeling rough. Bit gutted that I’m not immune to it. I’m triple jabbed and also had antibodies present in my system. I think it’s tearing through people at the moment.
minniesdragg · 16/03/2022 10:13

I definitely had it last summer as I was ill for ages and have only just recently got back my sense of smell. All tests were negative LFTs and PCRs.

Quite a few people presumably- there are 66 million people in the country and there have been less than 20 million cases recorded since it all began, so, even allowing for a fair number of unreported cases, it's still only about a third of the population who've had it, so OP, you're definitely not the only one who hasn't :)

sugarapplelane · 16/03/2022 10:46

I hadn't until yesterday!

MsTSwift · 16/03/2022 10:52

Am being punished for my “I’ve never had it” smugness! Day 2 and it’s bad!

SummerOfComedy · 16/03/2022 10:56

I've not had it either. Fully vaccinated though.

None of my family have had it either.

I have never had 'normal' flu and I am quite old!

I saw somewhere that someone ( Sage possibly) reckon most likely half the population have had it, there's been a lot of underreporting.
grapehyacinthisactuallyblue · 16/03/2022 11:27

My whole family, and extended families on both sides. Maybe we are genetically immuneGrin( + fully vaxxed) or purely lucky.

IKnowYouDontTurnTheLightOn · 16/03/2022 11:29

I could have written your post - until yesterday! Don’t count your chickens 😬.

aintnospringchicken · 16/03/2022 11:33

I've never had it ,touch wood.Neither have my DH,DC and their partners.Maybe I'm lucky or maybe I've got a good strong immune system.I've never had flu in my life, never had a tummy bug and very very rarely get a cold.

MsSquiz · 16/03/2022 11:40

DH, DD (2yrs) and I have all managed to avoid it so far. No idea how since we went away for a weekend in December with family and the day after we got home, a family member tested positive!
And last June, DD was a close contact to a positive member of staff at nursery, and was lucky to not have caught it then either

MsSquiz · 16/03/2022 11:41

My 5 year old nephew is still managing to swerve it although his mum had it in December and his dad, brother and twin sister are currently testing positive! There is no real logic to it

Itsnotover · 16/03/2022 11:43

I haven’t.

bigbluebus · 16/03/2022 11:57

I haven't, nor has DH or adult DS - yet! We feel that it's only a matter of time now though with all restrictions lifted and people going out and about whilst knowingly positive.

We were extremely careful for the majority of the 2 years but in the last few months have been on multiple train journeys to towns and cities, been in pubs and restaurants, I've been to evening classes in a small classroom with no ventilation! DS works in a supermarket and DH has been working in the office throughout - although testing etc has been very strict as was social distancing and ventilation - although less so now. DH has gone to London for a conference for 2 days on the train so who knows if this weekend will be the one where we test positive! Cases are rising around here - I know people who've got Covid now and not all of them are staying at home!

ukborn · 16/03/2022 12:58

No my family hasn't, and my daughter is on the tube to and from school and my son on the bus and deals with the public all day. We didn't stop wearing masks (we still do on transport and small shops), and are good about washing hands, but we never did the wiping down our groceries or door knobs etc - people I know who were far stricter have had it once or even twice!
There is a possibility we have had it with no symptoms of course.

blobby10 · 16/03/2022 13:00

I was convinced that I had it last week but successive negative tests proved otherwise and it is just a really horrible chest cold and cough. Didn't catch it from my OH in October 2020 but not surprised that I haven't caught it as I don't really go out anywhere! The only reason I got my current cold was because I went on a train to London on 5 March and someone on there was coughing like nothing on earth.

AnIconOfImperfections · 16/03/2022 13:07

Nope. I don’t know anyone close to me that has apart from one of my best friends who had it recently. I think I must be immune! I’ve been exposed to it (lots of people at work that I sit with have had it), I take the train and tube into London 2 x week. I do wear an FPP2 mask, who knows, maybe it does offer some protection 🤷🏻‍♀️

JemimaMuddledUp · 16/03/2022 13:58

I hadn't until this week.

I've been careful throughout as I'm CEV. Shielded, WFH, masks, handwashing, keeping distance. Fully vaccinated.

The bloody thing still got me in the end.

DockOTheBay · 16/03/2022 14:28

I haven't. At least not with symptoms. Pretty surprising as my daughter has had it twice and I didn't get it from her, and I haven't been careful at all especially in the last few months.

RockaLock · 16/03/2022 14:44

DS1 has had it; DH, DS2 and I haven't (yet) (to our knowledge).

But given we commute into London, I'm sure it's only a matter of time.

skyeisthelimit · 16/03/2022 14:57

I haven't had it and neither has my DD or my parents. My DB and his wife and SC have all had it last summer. I am surprised that DD hasn't caught it at school as a lot of her friends have had it.

I have shielded to an extent due to being CEV. I work from home full time, but I have had a couple of UK seaside holidays, and been to the theatre/cinema etc. I do always wear a mask and will continue to do so.

I keep my distance from others still, and I also gel my hands regularly when out after touching doors, hand rails etc.

jellybe · 16/03/2022 15:01

My DD still hasn't had it. All of us in the house have but she managed to avoid it (tested her everyday whilst the rest of us where plagued)
