Second time for me. First time was July of 2020 (asymptomatic then)

How are you doing? What symptoms do you have? How long ago did it start for you?

I tested positive this morning after I had an inkling that my 'cold' could possibly be covid.

I have a mild cough, bit pleghmy and my body aches. I was hot and cold throughout the night so didn't sleep well at all. Very scary dreams too Confused

I have 3 young children, two of which started feeling unwell on Monday but are alot better now bar some snot. I'm a little worried about my baby though, he's 4 months. He seems fine during the day but during the night he sounds quite croaky and congested.

If anybody wants to keep us company whilst we recover that would be lovely as I'm a tiny bit nervous.

Me too!!!!!

Day 18 and spent last night coughing and full of cold. Woken up a bit shaky and wondering if I have a temp!!

Am sure it’s Covid linked. There’s no other explanation….

BigButtons · 29/03/2022 07:22

I know several people, me included, who have had secondary infections with covid and have needed antibiotics.
Today I am making my second attempt at returning to work ( day 18). I tried last Thursday and it was a disaster . I managed 2 hours. I spent the weekend shaking. It has also set of my neuralgia which I haven’t had for years.

MyBottomDecides · 29/03/2022 09:19

Good luck Big Buttons . I hope you're up to it today.

I've done a covid test (negative) and temp check (raised slightly at 37.6, but had taken paracetamol before I thought of it) so suspect post viral something or a secondary infection rather than freak active covid on day 16.

Stormchaser1502 · 29/03/2022 09:35

Now waiting for gp to call!! Have given in and think need antibs!

Verity226 · 29/03/2022 09:55

Has anybody experienced anything like this?

A few times it has happened when I'm in bed trying to go to sleep and its quite unnerving.

I'll get this surge of adrenaline to/from my heart that rushes through my body, my heart rate goes up.

Also brain zaps that feel like an electrical current in my head accompanied by an odd buzzing sound in my ears (the latter could be tinnitus but it's not like any tinnitus I've had before)

Confused

My Dh has the heart rate thing. He had it when he had covid in September 2020 as well. 🤞 it doesn’t last too long.

Stormchaser1502 · 29/03/2022 10:20

Yes I would get that surge of adrenaline wash over me and then heart palpitations. Very unnerving but eased.

Also the sudden shock pain in head is probably blocked sinuses into ear. I had this too. Caused tinnitus also.

Hideous virus!! It just keeps giving doesn’t it!

Verity226 · 29/03/2022 10:46

Thanks for the reassurance that I'm not alone - Miss and Storm, I was getting a bit concerned as its just so unusual and not something I've ever experienced before. I can do without that happening on a regular basis, I'm sleep deprived as it is with a pre schooler, toddler and 5mo Grin

Day 10 still positive.

Just so tired and can't think straight.

Piggy42 · 29/03/2022 18:21

I’m now day 5 still testing positive. Don’t feel too bad, just tired.

lollipoprainbow · 30/03/2022 10:07

Dd9 has had it since Monday, headache and hot etc but is a lot perkier today. My symptoms started yesterday and I tested positive. Feels like a bad head cold at moment and if Covid didn't exist that's what I would presume it was ! My skin feels tingly though like pins and needles and I ache a lot.

samsonthecat · 30/03/2022 10:15

I tested positive on Monday morning. I’m a teacher so school don’t want me in. At the moment it feels like a bad head cold. My nose is streaming, dull headache and tickly throat. Getting a bit of a cough and my sense of smell and taste are not as good as usual.

KisstheTeapot14 · 30/03/2022 12:15

Day 11 finally a negative test.

Will probably just rest for next few days and go back to work Mon. Have CFS so I have to be quite careful, rushing back into normal life has bitten me on the bum many times. 7 years in and I am finally learning to curb my enthusiasm.

Take care everyone and rest more than you think you need to (if possible - I know it can be a challenge with small children).

Wishing you all a good recovery Flowers Brew

Orchidflower1 · 30/03/2022 12:59

I’m day 13 here. Just walked to the post box and feel awful! Tight, hot chest and weak. I thought I was improving. Anyone had a recurrence of tight chest/ fire in chest?

ancientgran · 30/03/2022 14:48

Day 31 and managed to get a GP appointment. I'm on antibiotics and if I get any worse it will be hospital. My head is splitting, the cough is terrible and just to add to the fun my gums have started bleeding.

I do hope the antibiotics do the trick, not sure how much more I can take. Unfortunately they are in a bad situation at the surgery with doctors/nurses/admin staff off sick. I am so grateful she agreed to see me in her lunch hour.

Popuptent · 30/03/2022 15:33

I'm another one who has dodged it until now and I work in a school so surrounded by it all day every day. I recently eased off on the mask wearing. I'm on Day 2 and am tired with a cough but that's about it. I've had much worse colds and when I get a cold it goes straight to my sinuses and I feel dreadful for ages. This hasn't happened yet but I'm worried about what's in store over the coming few days.

I also registered for a Panoramic antiviral drug trial but the computer selected me to not take the drugs and just fill in a symptom checker instead. You have to be over 50 and early in the illness to apply. They only accept a certain amount each day/week so try early in the day if you are interested.

Verity226 · 30/03/2022 16:41

Really pleased you got seen ancientgran, has it been 31 days now gosh thats such a long time! I hope the ABs do the trick and you can avoid hospital.

I feel like complete rubbish again but I think I've picked up something else. I visited my friend on Sunday who said she was just getting over flu, she thinks everything is flu mind you. Whatever it is I think I've got it. Surely it can't be another resurgence of covid Confused

Day 1 here. Symptoms started yesterday and positive today. Tickly throat, blocked / runny nose intermittently, fatigue, mild cough, mild headache, sneezing, husky voice.

hardest part at the moment is the kids keep talking to me and I don’t have the energy to reply.

Hope it doesn’t get worse than this or it’ll kick of my health anxiety.

Stormchaser1502 · 30/03/2022 17:39

Day 19 here and second day of antibiotics and oral steroids for my chest!!
Yes, I’ve got the awful burning feeling too, plus cough, and a new fever and general aches. Well this was yesterday. Today I feel slightly more perky, although a long long way to go to feeling better I think.

I think I overdid it when I thought I was getting over Covid day 10. It really has come back and bitten me hard!!

TypicaIMe · 30/03/2022 18:23

Day 19. Still positive.

Feeling dodgy on an off, today my throat feels sore again and I have that chest tightness/burning back. No cough thankfully. Permanently knackered, though.

I've had to pause my immunosuppressant medication for three weeks now so my RA is making its presence felt, too. The fatigue may well be down to that - the aching joints and inability to walk very far certainly is.

Had enough now.

TypicaIMe · 30/03/2022 18:25

Oh @ancientgran I can't believe you're still suffering so badly. How awful. Keeping everything crossed the antibiotics work and quickly Flowers

ancientgran · 30/03/2022 19:18

@Verity226 and TypicalMe thank you both. 31 days, nightmare isn't it. I'm going to have a long steamy bath and hope to get some sleep tonight. Hope you are all doing OK.

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 30/03/2022 19:28

I tested positive yesterday. To say I've had 2 jabs and the booster I feel like of shite to be honest. Sad

EventuallyDelighted · 30/03/2022 19:38

I'm glad you were able to be seen @ancientgran and hope the ABs kick in quickly.

@Stormchaser1502 and @TypicaIMe sorry its gone on so long for you both too.

I'm day 17 now and still tired compared to normal but improving. I haven't returned to any exercise other than walking yet as I don't want to overdo it.

Jules912 · 30/03/2022 19:56

Day 18 now, yesterday felt nearly normal but completely over did it and now back to every thing aching.
