Second time for me. First time was July of 2020 (asymptomatic then)

How are you doing? What symptoms do you have? How long ago did it start for you?

I tested positive this morning after I had an inkling that my 'cold' could possibly be covid.

I have a mild cough, bit pleghmy and my body aches. I was hot and cold throughout the night so didn't sleep well at all. Very scary dreams too Confused

I have 3 young children, two of which started feeling unwell on Monday but are alot better now bar some snot. I'm a little worried about my baby though, he's 4 months. He seems fine during the day but during the night he sounds quite croaky and congested.

If anybody wants to keep us company whilst we recover that would be lovely as I'm a tiny bit nervous.

I'm day 26 and feel terrible. I'm having good days and bad days but I've gone right back today. The cough is really bad again, I've been vomiting. I'm exhausted and had a really bad night.

Does anyone know when it is reasonable to see doctor, I mean is it just waiting it out now for the good days to get more frequent or do I ask for help.

I feel so low I keep crying.

NorthernChinchilla · 25/03/2022 09:46

Whole household has it now. Glad some pp have mentioned an increased appetite, I'm starving and honking food like there's no tomorrow.
Bad throat seems to be main symptom, plus gastric issues.

Feel pretty urgh, but having had it before I'm going to do as little as humanly possible and rest up. Rallying then relapsing is so common. Plus DH had only just gotten over the long COVID from our dose a year ago Confused

Soooooo many people have it at the moment, Flowers to all feeling so rough

I wouldn't hesitate to ask to see a doctor now, that wouldn't be unreasonable in the slightest. I'm considering it myself and I'm only on day 14ish after my first relapse. You have been getting slightly better then alot worse for weeks you poor thing.

Definitely ask to be seen. You shouldn't have to suffer on in that way.

Can you try and see somebody today?

Some advice for anyone feeling slightly better, take it easy and don't do too much too soon. It has set me right back. Big time.

@ancientgran
Definitely try and get seen now, it’s gone beyond ‘normal’ symptom length for you.

@Verity226 I felt a bit of a fraud early yesterday, being off work. But then I did very little and it hit me like a truck in the afternoon/early evening, so god knows what it would have been like if I’d gone in. A third of our staff off. Don’t know how they are still open to all year groups tbh.

Tinnitus driving me a bit mad, now. One of those amorphous hard to treat side effects - typical!

SpaceyCake · 25/03/2022 10:29

@Annoyingnamechangerperson I think being a bit breathless is normal. I wasn't particularly poorly with Covid but I still had bouts of breathlessness, and still do and I'm on day 9 I think. I'm able to exercise and live pretty normally but I'm definitely getting a bit short of breath sometimes. The hayfever season is not helping though! I would second the oximeter suggestion if you're worried. I found that I started getting worried even at the slightest breathlessness but my sats were always fine so I stopped worrying. Hope you feel better soon!

Stormchaser1502 · 25/03/2022 10:52

Id second the not overdoing it!!
I felt so frustrated. Went for a bike ride on day 12 thinking I was fine!! I now feel worse than I did in the first few days!! In bed. Aching.
The sinus pain and tinnitus is driving me mad!! Called the doctor and he said it’s not bacterial infection so no antibs. He advised sinus rinse and inhaling etc. also steroid nasal drops.

Any advice on tinnitus?

Verity226 · 25/03/2022 11:06

I'm taking part in a covid study with IPSOS and sent a PCR off on Monday, I got the results today and I'm covid negative at last. That's reassuring, so I atleast know the relapse isn't due to active infection - just the aftermath of.

Day 7-still very positive- feel really rough and still be bed. Worst bit is crushing tiredness and hacking, scary cough and pressure on chest.

Megathon · 25/03/2022 17:31

Woke up with a sore throat today and had a positive lateral flow. Have done a pcr now but almost by clockwork started getting very painful aches in really random places all over my body. Bit of a temp and cough too, feeling quite unwell.

My mum and dd both have it but I was convinced I'd miss it as its been in my house 3 times now and I've been negative every time.

Sunnycats · 25/03/2022 17:44

@Annoyingnamechangerperson I'm on day 3 and feeling very breathless too. I can barely walk to the bathroom whereas a few days ago I was working out at the gym. I've avoided it for 2 years and really believed I wouldn't get it. I cant believe how awful I feel.

I hope everyone feels better soon xx

BigButtons · 25/03/2022 17:55

@Sunnycats me too. It’s amazing how quickly it knocks you down.

TypicaIMe · 25/03/2022 17:56

Day 14.

Still positive.

Breathless and dizzy if I try to do anything much, including trying on two outfits as I did earlier. I did manage to go out for a very short while yesterday, but felt so spaced and dizzy I had to get the bus two stops to get home.

Also stuffy nose, intermittent cough, permanent headache and general ugh.

Am now completely convinced that I will be ill forever!

TracyBeakerSoYeah · 25/03/2022 18:43

Day 7 finally negative.
DP & I have been very very lucky compared to many as it's just been like a bad cold for us.
Still feel tired.
But I count my blessings that we've had it mild as unfortunately one of my friend's sibling's had it & died from covid related complications.

I hope everyone who's still ill or struggling gets & feels much better soon

Chocolatetrifle · 25/03/2022 18:56

Sorry to hear about your friend's sibling @TracyBeakerSoYeah. Glad you feel a bit better.

I'm finally negative on day 10. Still have a cough though and only last night had aching legs and pains in my legs. My 2 year old is positive and he's on day 4.

My husband and 4 year old got their negatives on Wednesday and yesterday.

This thread helped me so much when I found I was positive so thank you all for the company and support.

Really hope everyone feels a lot stronger soon.

MrsAmber · 25/03/2022 19:18

Day 5 and still a thick red line showing positive!

I’m hoping it diminishes quickly so I can return to work on Monday (hopeful)!

Dizzybintess · 25/03/2022 19:23

Yes first time for me. I previously had a high risk job and now I work from home and I have caught it this week. I have felt ropey since monday and have had 6 negative LFT and now one positive PCR.

ApolloandDaphne · 25/03/2022 19:28

I tested positive yesterday. I knew no one who had it then in the last few weeks everyone I know seems to have got it.

Dizzybintess · 25/03/2022 19:29

I personally know 15 people who have tested positive this week!

ancientgran · 25/03/2022 20:04

So I managed to see a nurse this afternoon, my oxgen level is OK, they didn't seem too worried but the cough is really bad today. I'm hoping to see the GP on Monday.

I'm really pleased you was able to be seen, hopefully you feel slightly reassured.

Was the nurse able to suggest anything that you haven't already tried?

Fingers crossed for a productive appointment with the GP on Monday 🤞

Hello to the newcomers, what a club to have joined eh. I hope it's short lived for all of you 🤞

I cannot stress this enough, and I know how impossible it is with small children, but REST as much as you can.

As soon as I felt I had turned a corner on day 10 I jumped straight back into normal activities plus did a massive deep clean of the house, popping out for the sake of it, shopping, 6 hour long trip to the park and farm, chasing my eldest about the place. I felt as though I had alot of making up to do especially as I spent my birthday laid up.

Big mistake.

I'm reading another thread at the moment for people with post covid fatigue and recent positive cases where there are still lingering symptoms. There are strong recommendations for pro biotics, vit d (the spray not the tablet as they don't absorb) and b12. Also tonics, like metatone.

Make sure you stay hydrated and don't forget to eat, even If you lose your appetite. I felt so much worse when I didn't eat.

Epsom salts in the bath for the body aches.

Pulse oxi meter for peace of mind.

Feel free to use this thread to offload, ask for reassurance or just have a moan about how shit it all is.

I suspect many of you have secondary bacterial infections- I certainly do. They are helping loads but I feel wiped out.

MrsAmber · 25/03/2022 21:44

Day 5 and test still VERY positive!

Is anybody else currently positive?

I don't think that's the case with me but then I wouldn't really know I suppose.

I don't have a cough bar the odd touch in the morning, the snot is lessening and I can breathe just fine.

My main symptom now is total exhaustion, and for some reason two nights in a row now I've had sudden onset of gastro problems (upper abdominal pain and loose bowels)

Last night I had stabbing pain in my eyes and a headache, felt quite shaky and panicky.

Does any of that point towards a bacterial infection?

I assumed if I had one i would have a hacking cough etc.

I don't get on well with AB's so keen to avoid them if I can.
