Second time for me. First time was July of 2020 (asymptomatic then)

How are you doing? What symptoms do you have? How long ago did it start for you?

I tested positive this morning after I had an inkling that my 'cold' could possibly be covid.

I have a mild cough, bit pleghmy and my body aches. I was hot and cold throughout the night so didn't sleep well at all. Very scary dreams too Confused

I have 3 young children, two of which started feeling unwell on Monday but are alot better now bar some snot. I'm a little worried about my baby though, he's 4 months. He seems fine during the day but during the night he sounds quite croaky and congested.

If anybody wants to keep us company whilst we recover that would be lovely as I'm a tiny bit nervous.

Day 10, still testing positive and laid up on sofa but days 3-5 or so we’re definitely the worst (night chills/sweats, raw throat, tight chest etc)

The nightmares started before I tested positive and lasted a week or so: glad they are over!

Verity226 · 11/03/2022 21:35

RE sinuses burning - mine aren't at the moment but OH said his are. It's a really common symptom so I read.

I don't even know what day I'm on to be honest. OH first had a fever last Saturday, DS a cough on the Monday and I was exhausted but didn't feel 'ill' until Wednesday or test positive until today.

Oh bugger I'm sorry you've had the nightmares too, Despairing. I'm a bit reluctant to go to sleep because I don't want another like last night Sad

I had some dihydrocodiene left over from my c section so I took one of them about an hour ago and it has really helped the body aches

Tested positive this morning. Camping in the sitting room with DS who tested positive on Tuesday. We have made a den. He is 12 Grin He's feeling better but just had cold symptoms. I am aching and sweaty. Hope everyone feels better soon.

Verity226 · 11/03/2022 21:39

My friend text me tonight saying she's feeling really rough, we went out for dinner and shopping last Sunday.

I've told her to get a test. I hope I haven't given it to her. What is the likelihood? As I mentioned, OH had a fever on the Saturday, the day before we met up, but he tested negative on that day as he was at the hospital for an unrelated issue and they tested him due to the fever.

I hope she'll be ok. She's triple vaxxed and as fit as a fiddle but quite a bit older than I am, early fifties.

Oh bless, that sounds like a lovely idea and something my DS would love. I might do the same when I can muster up the energy. I hope you feel much better soon too.

I tested positive today, but have had “a cold” since Wednesday. It explains why I was sleeping on top of the covers last night!

FlipFlopsMakeMyToesCold · 11/03/2022 21:54

Funny how everyone is affected differently.

I'm only one at home with burning sinuses. My youngest (5) is definitely the snottiest. The whites of eldest daughters eyes (8) have gone pink. I'm only one at home with burning sinuses and only one that hasn't stopped sneezing...

DespairingHomeowner · 11/03/2022 22:00

My dreams have been populated with various people who have died (neighbours, friends parents, old colleagues etc). Just going about their business but v strange and slightly disconcerting!!

Try not to worry about your friend - she could have got it anywhere there is so much of it about! Mine did not come from contact with kids (we think from eating out but hard to be sure)

Verity226 · 11/03/2022 22:07

The dreams thing is so bizarre!

I used to get the odd weird dream when I was pregnant but nothing like this. It's interesting that the common theme with covid dreams is danger/death. It must be a subconscious thing although I didn't actually know I had covid when the weird dream started.

Burning sinuses sounds nasty, I'm sorry you (and my OH) have that, PP.

I saw a thread on this board about a new variant, Deltacron. I haven't bothered reading up about it but I'm assuming it's a mix of delta and omicron. That would explain the body aches etc as AFAIK omicron only gives common cold symptoms?

Coincidentally I just signed up to a research trial i was invited to partake in before I tested positive or had any idea I had it again. Ipsos mori send you a test, you return it and they send you a £20 gift voucher. Its so they can gather info on new variants etc. I feel like I've definitely earned that gift voucher now Grin

It's been quite the thing! Shivers and fever, sniffly cold, earache, sinus burn, shooting pains, fatigue, headaches, weird itchy swollen hands and some feverish vomit last night!

None of it earth shattering in isolation but a bit much as a litany of stuff! And yes! The dreams!

Hopefully I'm on the right side. Hope you all get well soon

Good grief you've had quite the combo haven't you, I'm really sorry to hear that and hope you're well on your way to recovery 🤞🏼

I hate vomiting, I really hope I manage to avoid that one

apparently tumultuous dreams are a sign of viral infection, especially if you have a temperature

Mine also started before I realised I was positive: in retrospect it was the night I was exposed (I can be that specific as i wfh, was alone & barely went out that week!)

Whataboutno · 12/03/2022 07:38

I managed a lot more sleep last night thank god! Still woke up drenched in sweat.

Ledkr · 12/03/2022 08:37

Jumping on for comparisons.
I am.on day 8 today Still testing pos.
Have had the flu symptoms, dry mouth and extreme tiredness. Also very hungry.
Been in bed by 8 every night.
Yesterday I felt slightly better but have been awake on and off last night with a headache and feeling really nauseous.

YouveCatToBeKittenMe · 12/03/2022 08:39

@Bickles

Day 6. Second time for me, first was May 2021. I have been very tired with mild cold symptoms and a cough. I think I’m on the mend though now.
I’ve felt exactly like this Dh was supposed to go to hospital for a procedure on Thursday, he had what we thought was a cold 10 days ago, and had tested negative but his pre-procedure pcr test came back positive on weds. I had cold symptoms by then too so took a lft which was positive. So I’m prob day 5 as my first symptoms were Tuesday.
coloradoqueen · 12/03/2022 08:51

Yes me, tested positive yesterday. Started with a sore throat, now feels like cold. Never had it before so was starting to think I had some immunity!

Phormiumjester · 12/03/2022 09:00

I feel GOOD today! Slept well and was awake and happy to get up at 7.30 (which is unlike me at the best of times!).

How's everyone else?

Walkaround · 12/03/2022 09:10

I had it a couple of weeks ago. Had a couple of days of not feeling great on days 3 and 4, but a couple of painkillers every few hours were enough to keep that under control. Symptoms were mainly a runny, tingly nose that would occasionally clear up completely, then suddenly start running and tingling again - never got the thick mucous you normally get at the tail end of a standard cold; a mildly sore throat with a gland that would occasionally come up a little bit on one side then go down again; and an acidic feeling at the top of my stomach with slightly less firm bowel movements. No effect whatsoever on energy or appetite and no problems with brain fog or aching joints and muscles, although I had one migraine aura one night (I never get migraine headaches, but do very occasionally get the auras when feeling run down, often coinciding with when I have been getting stomach discomfort in recent days). Despite pretty mild symptoms, I tested strongly positive for 10 days. I never got a cough, temperature or loss of taste or smell.

Arcadia · 12/03/2022 09:12

Just for balance I am on day 10 but have been back to work and out and about as usual since Wednesday as I tested negative days 6 & 7, mine was exceptionally mild - a tickly throat, a couple of minor aches and pains, a bit of a stuffy nose, a bit sleepy one day, and some brain fog when I went back to work (my job is quite mentally challenging) - but I would barely have known I was ill if I hadn't tested. I did rest days 1 to 3 or 4 but was not nearly as unwell as most people describing.

Chocolatefrenzy · 12/03/2022 09:34

I've tested positive this morning, and have caught it off my teenage daughter who has been isolating in her room since her test on Tuesday.
I feel soooo rough. Temp 39.1C shivery, aches and all I want to do is lie down. Even my eyes hurt to move them.
My symptoms started suddenly on Thursday night but lateral flows have been negative until this morning. Keep thinking about all the people I might have infected🥺

Verity226 · 12/03/2022 09:52

Morning all, I slept much better than I did the night before and no horrid dream that I can remember. So relieved. I really needed that 8 hours. It's my birthday today and all I wanted for it was a good night sleep Grin

Symptoms today are ongoing tiredness (despite sleeping well), blocked nose with burning inside my right nostril, stabbing pains in my back, feel a bit clammy and I still have a cough but it's not too bad.

Phormiumjester so pleased you're feeling good today! That's great news. Long may it continue

Keep thinking about all the people I might have infected🥺

Oh love, me too. Be kind to yourself. It's the nature of a virus isn't it? Attacks indiscriminately and spreads undetected for the most part. I'm sure there's not much you could have done to avoid passing it on, just like there's not much more you could have done to avoid it.

If anybody has any co-codomol or dihydrocodiene in the cupboard it does help alot better than paracetamol did for me. I felt relatively ok last night after 1 dose of that.

I've worked it out and if I'm right about my Monday fatigue being the start of it then I'm on day six, if I count from the day the cough started I'm day 4 (but day 2 from the positive result)

Hope it buggers off soon for us all

Day 13, the cough was getting better round day 6 and 7 but is getting worse. I feel like I've got a chest infection. The worst thing is my eyes, they are so dry and sore but I've also got a sore stuffed up nose, sore throat and feel exhausted and achey. Sense of smell and taste are fine, I had one day when everything smelt unpleasant but just that one day.

I feel like I need a few days in bed being pampered but as DH is disabled there is no chance of that.

13 days blimey you poor woman.

It sounds like you probably need antibiotics, is there any chance of you being able get a telephone consultation tomorrow? My GP will prescribe over the phone for things like that if you can't be seen in person.

I'm so sorry you're struggling. It's hard enough having covid without the additional strain of caring for a disabled loved one. I can relate to an extent, my DS is severely autistic but I'm lucky in that I have OH here to lighten the load somewhat.

@verity226 happy birthday 🎂 sorry it's still not gone. Rest up if you can

@ancientgran yes, I suspect that's exactly what you need. Can you let a few standards drop for a day or so around the house? Give yourself permission to take some time. Without compromising H obvs. I'm sorry you feel so poorly

ancientgran · 12/03/2022 13:03

The house is a tip trust me. We had food delivered by JustEat last night so I am only doing what I have to. Today I have chicken to roast and I've got some frozen mash and veg so it will be pretty basic but little effort.

I suspect I might need antibiotics so I might speak to GP on Monday if I'm still the same. I suppose it is likely to hit me harder due to age? Not sure but seems logical. I do have a tendency to ending up with chest infections if I get a bad cold so I'm used to that. I think my eyes are bothering me most, normally if I'm ill I'll watch a film or read a book to take my mind of it but I can't read much as it hurts, so annoying as I can't find my kindle as having big print would help.

I'm just getting a bit nervous about ending up with long covid but it is still early days so hopefully it will work out.

Hope everyone is feeling better, it is lovely here today with the sun out and no rain so that lifts the spirits.
