Second time for me. First time was July of 2020 (asymptomatic then)

How are you doing? What symptoms do you have? How long ago did it start for you?

I tested positive this morning after I had an inkling that my 'cold' could possibly be covid.

I have a mild cough, bit pleghmy and my body aches. I was hot and cold throughout the night so didn't sleep well at all. Very scary dreams too Confused

I have 3 young children, two of which started feeling unwell on Monday but are alot better now bar some snot. I'm a little worried about my baby though, he's 4 months. He seems fine during the day but during the night he sounds quite croaky and congested.

If anybody wants to keep us company whilst we recover that would be lovely as I'm a tiny bit nervous.

Day 5 here and I’ve lost my sense of smell 😔 Awful sore throat now too and earache on one side. Hurts so much to cough. Not breathless or anything but very tired eyes if that makes sense. Horrible illness!

EricScrantona · 14/03/2022 16:02

Sounds like we are all getting a variety of symptoms and I assumed I would keep my sense of smell as still have it but from reading this, it's likely I will lose it in the next few days.

It's really interesting to see how other people are doing so I'm grateful this thread was created Thanks

Saw lovely doctor, don't know if he's new or a locum but I've never seen him before. My eyes are because I've coughed so hard at the weekend I've burst blood vessels. He isn't worried about it and says it will go in a couple of weeks.

No chest infection just covid cough can last alot longer than people think. He said he was very much the same when he had it. We had a laugh about the "it's just a mild cold now."

I felt so much better just having it recognised and also the reassurance about my eyes. So I am still sore and tired but feeling more positive. He seemed fine but said it took him 4 or 5 weeks to be feeling anything like normal so maybe I am halfway there.

I hope everyone is doing OK. I will say one blessing for me is I haven't lost my sense of taste and smell was only off for one day when everything smelt rotten. At least I can enjoy a meal or a cuppa with a biscuit.

Winday · 14/03/2022 16:43

Day 7 here, still testing strong positive on LFT.

I have a metallic taste, but can still smell fine. Almost all other symptoms are gone, sinuses feel much better, my throat just feels like I need to clear it quite often. Still a bit tired.

I'm glad you've gad some reassurance now from the doctor. Sometimes thar goes a long way to making us feel that bit better.

We’re on day 6 of positive DS. We took an ltf on Saturday just to see how he was tracking for early release and it was negative! Got my hopes up, then today he has a glaring positive. More than ever. (We’re not in England btw)

lines had been really faint previously, I have no idea what’s going on in terms of infectious period, but so far the rest of us are clear and today is our last daily test.

He’s been pretty unwell with it this time around, but turned a corner the last couple of days thankfully!

nodtik · 14/03/2022 16:58

I tested positive on Sunday.

I feel so poorly, my throat is the worst and I can barely swallow.

GP prescribed antibiotics, but I'm really worried about the lump that seems to have developed in my throat, that feels like something is stuck in my throat.

I've only taken on tablet so far, when do you think it should start to get better? And what do I do if it doesn't.

Feeling really really low and a little scared if I'm honest!

muffb · 14/03/2022 17:34

@Twentyn1ne well that's why I'm not 100% sure if it actually related to being positive but, I started getting dizzy spells about 4 days before I tested positive.

I started getting dizzy spells on the Saturday roughly, I was also generally feeling rubbish as had pain in kidney area which is also a bit random so have put that down to covid aswell because ive never had problems with my back or my kidneys (have also seen mentions of kidney pain with covid aswell-but this pain has gone now) Took a test on the Wednesday as knew something wasn't right and it came back positive, then on the Thursday started getting very mild cold symptoms. Confused

heathcliffthe2nd · 14/03/2022 18:02

Tested positive on PCR yesterday. LF negative until this afternoon so definitely seems to be a delay on LF picking it up.
Felt ok this morning but have got worse as the day went on. Good to know symptoms are similar to others - burning sinuses, achey body, cough.
“Mild cold” my arse…

TalkToTheHand123 · 14/03/2022 18:22

I got a text at work yesterday from my mam saying my daughter had tested positive for covid. I felt hot and was panicking. Got home after a few long hours later and turns out negative!

Jules912 · 14/03/2022 18:36

Day 2 here. Nothing actually hurts but I feel so tired and constantly coughing. DS was worst on day 0 then dipped a bit around day 3. DD was worst days 3-5 so suspect I'll get worse.
Poor DH can barely get out of bed he's so I'll with fever, dizziness and general aching.

Divamuffin · 14/03/2022 19:23

Day two positive for me. Symptoms started on Friday with a cough. Also had the lump in my throat that someone mentioned above - didn’t realise i had Covid at this point so thought i could have been having a reaction to something, although it disappeared pretty fast.

My sinuses feel like there is pressure and my back teeth hurt. Overall quite mild so far though, I’m just taking it easy in case it gets worse

WhoWants2Know · 15/03/2022 08:06

Day 5(?) I think and a very dark positive line still. My head and sinuses hurt and painkillers don't really touch it. No smell. But so much better than days 1-3

ancientgran · 15/03/2022 08:53

Thanks Winday, it is good to have reassurance. I think I've got to sort out some way of propping myself up tonight as I'm coughing alot at night and I think it is lying flat making it worse. I think I'd feel so much better if I got a good nights sleep.

So plan for tonight is a nice hot steamy bath as the steam seems to help, lots of pillows so I'm not lying so flat and we'll see how that goes. DH did suggest leaving heating on as the cold might be making it worse but I don't think that would help but that might be the next plan.

Strange thing for me is I've tested negative on LFT all the way through even on the day I got the positive PCR.

WhoWants2Know · 15/03/2022 09:16

I wonder why the tests are so different? Ours were squinters on the first day of symptoms, but after that they've been super vivid. Even DD who is now on day 10.

Mindymomo · 15/03/2022 09:27

@ancientgran. I had a burst blood vessel from coughing so much once, I’d be surprised if I didn’t get one soon, the amount of coughing I’m still doing, day 5 for me.

AuntieMarys · 15/03/2022 09:47

Can I ask a question? I have had 4 days of negative LFTs. I have a mild cold, sinuses hurt. No temperature, cough. I feel fine in myself. No aches, pains, did 5 mile walk yesterday and eating everything in sight.
I've been reading up about getting a PCR but it says if you have cough/ temp/ no sense of smell/ taste.
I have none of those.
So do I assume I just have a cold?

TypicaIMe · 15/03/2022 10:00

Fifth time for me but definitely the worst.

Tested positive on Saturday but have felt rough for about a week. DD has been positive since last Wednesday, DH Saturday (first and third time's respectively).

I'm immunosuppressed and have rheumatoid arthritis which isn't helping I think. Last time I had it I was asymptomatic but I wasn't on my immunosuppressant drugs then. This time I feel all the usual fluey symptoms but also a weird hollow feeling in my chest, which is also burning when I breathe. I feel out of it too, like I've taken a load of codeine. My pulse oximeter is saying 97-99% so not worried but my god I feel wretched.

TypicaIMe · 15/03/2022 10:01

I had a week of negative LFTs before I finally tested positive on Saturday. In fact the LFT I did on Saturday morning was negative, but the one I did at lunchtime was a big thick positive!
Jules912 · 15/03/2022 10:05

@TypicaIMe I had similar, cold symptoms since Friday 4th, followed by sinus pain, felt a bit better Friday/Saturday morning. Started coughing Saturday afternoon, LFT and PCR both negative. Positive LFT Sunday morning. I just assumed I was unlucky enough to get a cold followed by Covid.

BigButtons · 15/03/2022 10:06

Tested positive on Saturday. Yesterday was horrendous. today I am a lot less achey but I am so weak that I can’t stand for more than a few minutes at a time or hold my head up. When I walk around the house I can’t feel my legs properly.

This is what we've all been thinking here too. DD has had heavy cold symptoms for almost a fortnight but didn't test positive for over a week. Before she did I assumed me and DH had caught her 'cold'. She's a teacher and she says loads of the kids have the same 'cold' but nobody is testing anymore - we've only been so vigilant because I'm CEV.

I have the sea legs, too. And the same floppiness/fatigue you describe.

I'm an old hand with Covid but these are the worst and strangest symptoms I've had, it feels like no other illness I've ever experienced.

Blizy · 15/03/2022 10:21

1 year old dd tested positive on Sunday.
She has cold symptoms and a temperature but ok in herself. Everyone else in the house is still testing negative.

BigButtons · 15/03/2022 10:36

@TypicaIMe it’s very odd isn’t it? Certainly NOT a mild cold. It’s tearing though my school. This is the highest number of staff members and kids off that we have had since the start of it all.
I am not even strong enough to use the bread knife to cut a slice of bread.☹️
