Just wondering how it's going for you, what day you're on and what you're doing today.

I'm not really sure which day I'm on - iffy throat for an hour Monday (which isn't uncommon for me), had a really bad night Tuesday even/night, didn't feel great Wednesday, but only tested positive Thursday. I've done what could be a day 5 test and T line is brighter than C line. I have times when I can function, other times I just can't do or cope with anything. My symptoms are mild compared to DH who's really struggling - he had an iffy throat like me Sunday evening but didn't test positive until Tuesday. He's struggling to swallow, very red eyes, lots of sneezing and coughing still - he's done for.

We're both up (can't sleep anyway). The limit of our day is tv, internet and reading a couple of pages here and there. Bathroom needs cleaning and I can see bits and dust everywhere, but can't face that!

On day 7. Feel better but so bloody tired.

Porcupineintherough · 07/02/2022 17:17

Day 5. Feel fine and have done since day 3. This is third time round for me (plus double vaxxed and boosted) so my t cells have had plenty of practise!

SazCat · 07/02/2022 17:35

@LG93

We're officially day 3 here, but suspect both of us (definitely DH) has had it longer than we realised. Both tests are fading, mines still pretty strong but his is barely noticeable now. He had a cold last weekend and tested several times but had no positive but assuming that was it. I've got a scratchy throat and have had on/off headache but nothing to write home about, feel hot and a bit breathless but I'm 39 weeks pregnant so it's almost impossible to distinguish between what's normal pregnancy and what's covid (hence delay in testing!!) Being induced on Wednesday, fingers crossed DHs day 5 and 6 tests are negative so he can be with me. Based on how much his test has faded from yesterday to today I'm hopeful for him 🤞
My husband also had a cold and just got negative LFTs, 10 days after his symptoms started though I started feeling really ill so went for PCR (mainly as I was due to be taking my CV mom out) which I got a positive from this morning.
ifonly4 · 07/02/2022 20:03

BethDutton both myself and DH got it. We're both average weight. DH goes to gym, the odd cycle ride and can walk up a 25% gradient for 20mins without stopping. I walk everywhere, do a couple of exercise classes a week, lots of lifting at work, the odd bike ride - oh, and I can do the 25% gradient but I need 2/3 view stopsGrin. We think DH caught it off his DB who goes to the gym and goes out riding his bike over the hills for 2/3 hours. From this, I'd say it has nothing to do with fitness.

ifonly4 cheers for that.

Hope everyone gets some sleep tonight and a better day tomorrow.

mulberrybag5 · 07/02/2022 21:38

Day 6, negative and feel fine. Bit of a weird breathlessness this evening tho!

Workinghardeveryday · 07/02/2022 23:46

Day 12 here, been quite ill with it and in bed mostly.

Yesterday I felt a lot better, but today woke up feeling extremely nauseous. Do you think it’s Covid or something else?

My appetite has been totally fine up until today

Porcupineintherough · 08/02/2022 04:53

@Workinghardeverydaythat sounds very COVID, sorry. It can have a real sting in the tail.

BlueAbacus · 08/02/2022 07:27

Day 4/5, had a bad night of coughing and night sweats (no fever). Feel a bit worse today than yesterday morning but have showered and taken paracetamol. DH looking after kids until 9am. Both snotty and with coughs now so no school/nursery for them (negative on LFT but I wonder how effectively I’m actually swabbing a 3 and a 1 year old- I don’t normally get that far up the nose before they go beserk). Think it’s going to be a long day! Hope everyone else is feeling ok this morning.

I tested my nearly 3 year old yesterday when i tested and it was awful and really difficult to get it up her nose as she was moving so much didnt think i got it in very much and she is positive still so must have worked
SazCat · 08/02/2022 07:50

DH felt better around day 9/10 but then come day 12 felt rough again although negative LFT by then. He's 2 weeks in but still not fully recovered. I'm on day 4 and would describe it as like a very very bad cold/chest infection. The worst ever! Very up and down and that is what I'm hearing a lot

I'm day 5 and still really ill but I've had the nausea since day 2. No cough no breathing issues just aches, headache, nausea.
chipshopElvis · 08/02/2022 09:02

I'm on day 4 I think. Had sore throat day 1 and 2, slight cough and body aches yesterday, fever and felt dreadful for 4 hours last night. Today a bit snotty, still a bit coughy, less achy. Able to work from home so far and praying that the rest of the house avoids it. I'm obese but usually cycle, so not completely inactive and am double jabbed and boosted.

Harecaughtinheadlights · 08/02/2022 09:25

Day 4 here, does anyone else get really sweaty/hot and have to lay down after doing anything?

Yeah, I feel worn out after doing anything! And keep going really hot. Day 4 for me too
HoneyFlowers · 08/02/2022 09:29

I've had it three weeks tomorrow. Yesterday felt so much better, today hit a brick wall. I never know how I'm going to be one day to the next.

Harecaughtinheadlights · 08/02/2022 09:39

@HoneyFlowers three weeks?! I was hoping I’d start to feel better after a week Sad
Sorry to hear you’re still unwell.

Softspread · 08/02/2022 09:44

Has anyone else got young children at home with them like I do?
I just want to rest/sleep but it’s impossible with a 3 year old. He doesn’t understand and wants constant entertaining/attention.
I didn’t sleep well last night so I when I dropped off in the early hours I thought I might get a bit of sleep, then my DS came and woke me about 7am demanding I get up with him. I feel dizzy when I stand and I’m exhausted doing anything. Help Sad

BlueAbacus · 08/02/2022 09:57

@Softspread yes I’ve got a 3 and a 1 year old home with me. Both symptomatic so no school/nursery/childminder. DH is helping when he can but also trying to work. I’m sure I’d be recovering much more quickly if I was resting more. For the 3 year old, I’ve been doing movie afternoons and letting him play with his kinetic sand more than usual. Luckily the 1 year old still has naps. Good luck FlowersCakeBrew

It's a nightmare, I fell asleep eating dinner on Sunday. I'm self employed and have had to cancel all work for another two weeks.

OhNoItGotMeToo · 08/02/2022 10:14

As you can tell from my new username - I'm now on day 3. I'm a teacher in a school that has had multiple outbreaks so I'm surprised I've lasted this long! I'm on Day 3. Main symptoms started as sneezes and runny nose, headache, sore throat and neck, glands up. Then sinus pain, back ache, temperature well up before I take paracetamol and a hacking cough.

HoneyFlowers · 08/02/2022 10:24

@twinkie100

Thanks for this thread OP. I'm on day 5 of symptoms, day 2 since positive test.

It's so strange, even though I'm triple jabbed I can't help but feel nervous..! I think after two years of being told how dangerous it is, it's probably only natural to be worried. Anyone else feel like that?

Yes, I feel exactly the same. I have had the weirdest of bodily feelings never experienced before and have even wondered if I was going to die.

On maternity leave with a 10 month old. Not really how I wanted to be spending the start of my last month off! She naps well in the day which is giving me a nice break, but still waking to be fed in the night unfortunately which has been a killer. Luckily the 4 year old is showing no symptoms and negative LFT so we're still sending her to school!
Himawarigirl · 08/02/2022 10:58

Day 6/7 for me and dh. Was very much parenting survival mode over the weekend with our 2, 6 and 8 year old. And because our 2 year old wasn’t getting out and running around he didn’t nap. 😩 Thankfully the kids had it before us and are all testing negative so have been able to go to school. My daughter was ill for over a week though. My dh was feeling stronger but today feels bad again so he now thinks he has long covid. He hardly ever gets ill so he panics easily 🙂 I got a little stronger and cough calmed down but last night my sense of taste went and overall we are both so, so tired and sooo over this! Get well soon to all of you.

Snoopsnoggysnog · 08/02/2022 11:57

Day 7 and still getting a strong positive test

Very runny nose and cough still and still having to take paracetamol to feel well enough to work.

DD had 2 negative tests so is back to school today. I’m alone at home but not able to rest as I have work.

Must be hard with young children so I sympathise. Mine are tweens so not too bad and was quite able to go and have a lie down when I needed to over the weekend.
