Just wondering how it's going for you, what day you're on and what you're doing today.

I'm not really sure which day I'm on - iffy throat for an hour Monday (which isn't uncommon for me), had a really bad night Tuesday even/night, didn't feel great Wednesday, but only tested positive Thursday. I've done what could be a day 5 test and T line is brighter than C line. I have times when I can function, other times I just can't do or cope with anything. My symptoms are mild compared to DH who's really struggling - he had an iffy throat like me Sunday evening but didn't test positive until Tuesday. He's struggling to swallow, very red eyes, lots of sneezing and coughing still - he's done for.

We're both up (can't sleep anyway). The limit of our day is tv, internet and reading a couple of pages here and there. Bathroom needs cleaning and I can see bits and dust everywhere, but can't face that!

Woke in the middle of the night Friday / Saturday feeling terribly unwell. Sneezed for about an hour but no cold has developed. Did lft test at 7am, negative. The day continued in a blur and I felt as unwell as I did a year ago with Covid, main symptom being my legs hurting so much and hardly being able to walk on them. So took another lft at 5pm and it was positive. Slept for quite a few hours last night and woke to feeling not exactly fine but the difference was amazing, my legs don't hurt one bit and I just feel washed out. Lft was strongly positive I've had a pcr at 8am and waiting for the results today.

I almost started my own thread as a family member has just text to say she's been hearing of many ( vaccinated) people who are terribly unwell for 24 hours only. I am just so so grateful to have had the vaccinations and not to feel like I was going to die as I did this time last year

CherryBlossomCheer · 06/02/2022 12:09

I’m unvaccinated and have had far worse colds and flu. Slight cough last weekend, very bad aches Monday and into the night. Woke at 3am with a fever and aches Tuesday. Paracetamol has kicked most of it to the kerb. I don’t know which day I’m on but have had a strong line today. Earache, headache and sinus pain at the moment.

DP double vaccinated has been much more badly affected than me. He’s very fit and has no health issues.

Fuckityfucksake · 06/02/2022 12:15

Both me and Dh have it.
He tested Positive last Sunday, symptoms started the friday for him - he couldn't get warm and felt like a cold coming on.
Saturday he was fine though!
He had a temp, shivers, sweating, joint aches, sore skin and spent 2 days in bed. He is much better now but still positive.
Mine started Thursday, just feeling really rough, like a cold coming. LFT negative. Friday I woke up feeling worse so tested again and was positive.
I've had a mild temp been a bit sneezy but worse for me has been the pain in my head - not a typical headache as it just kind of comes suddenly and sharp, really hurts for a minute or so then goes away. My ears are painful too as if I have earache and have been out in the cold. It's brought tears to my eyes a few times. Also had dizziness and nausea too.
I'm asthmatic and my breathing is affected. I'm neither coughing nor struggling to breathe but it's a huge effort.
I felt a tad better about 2 hours ago so had a shower and washed my manky hair - I'm now curled up in my egg chair feeling wiped out and shitty again urgh!
Both Dh and I are having our 1st covid encounter and are triple jabbed. I'm thankful neither of us have had the pleasure without being vaccinated.

Get well soon fellow sufferers.

chubley · 06/02/2022 12:45

I'm not sure about this 'omicron is milder' narrative, it is for a lot of people but not for many of us on here.

Day 12 for me, very faint line on LFT (on day 10 still had a much redder line) and feeling much better. Family started 2 weeks ago with teenage DS who felt unwell at the weekend with stomach ache, he came up positive on the Sunday, so ordered PCRs for us as household contacts. I sent my PCR off 2 days later when symptoms started, in the meantime was negative on LFT for 3 days! DH's PCR positive the day after me. Teenage DD stayed negative for ages until a week after me!

It's been worse than a normal mild cold but not as bad as flu or the worst cold. I've been able to potter round the house and WFH (but mostly to be available and keep straightforward things ticking over rather than anything complicated - had to be careful not to make mistakes). Symptoms came and went - mild headache, sore throat, cough, runny nose, sinus aches, chills, dry mouth, sore mouth (horrible taste), sore eyes esp when looking at the screen for too long, fuzzy head, loss of smell around day 8/9 but that seems to be slowly coming back now.

Coffeeshopcake · 06/02/2022 12:59

Dh and I are both on day 11.

Dh no symptoms at all. Only knew he had it from a ltf.

I haven't been ill but have had some mild symptoms. Started off feeling like I was getting a cold and feeling a bit flushed, the cold didn't develop but got a scratchy throat and a hoarse voice, that came and went and then the worst bit was that I had a bout of stomach pain/diarrhoea one evening.

Luckily nothing bad enough to stop me from doing my normal activities

Snoopsnoggysnog · 06/02/2022 14:03

But the problem is you can’t really get on with normal activities as you have to isolate surely. I’m sure I’d be able to but having to stay in is no doubt making me feel worse.

I’m in day 5 today and still testing positive on LFT. Been very sneezy today and very tired after doing the most basic of household tasks.

mulberrybag5 · 06/02/2022 14:14

@Snoopsnoggysnog not going out is definitely making me feel worse!

Snoopsnoggysnog · 06/02/2022 14:20

Yes - if I was forced to get on with my day I’d probably be fine. But in a way I suppose I’m also grateful for the enforced rest.
I’ll be back to WFH tomorrow anyway in a crazy and stressful job so I’ll make the most of resting today.

ifonly4 · 06/02/2022 14:24

Day 4/5. Feel more alert. Helps I'm sleeping now. Managing the odd bit of reading as well, tried doing puzzles but I can't even count squares - I'm just not seeing some of them. I can't even focus on copying names to comment individually - I hope those of you who are really suffering feel better soon. If you're not up to going back to work, is it worth trying to get a sick note (or whatever they call it these days)?

BethDutton · 06/02/2022 14:32

Day 5 for me too (counting the days I’ve felt I’ll, presumably I had it a couple of days before that). Got some sleep last night. Definitely feeling better but doing very little. If I try to do some chores I get tired very quickly.

MollyQueenOfSocks congratulations on baby and so sorry you are so ill with a newborn! That sounds so difficult. Flowers

Snoopsnoggysnog · 06/02/2022 14:57

OP have you tried Wordle? Give it a go, it’s not too taxing.

HPandTheNeverEndingBedtime · 06/02/2022 16:15

DD told me my eye was red a couple of days before testing + for Covid. Lo and bhodthat was on the sympton list when I filled in the form. Then it was fine, I'm day 7 now and was just watching the Olympics and felt like I had an eyelash in it, got up to check and now the middle of my inner eyelid is bright red with some yellowy looking bits on it. I've had conjunctivitis and it's not that, or at least not similar to when I've had it before anyway.

Covid and it's weird symptoms can piss off now.

HPandTheNeverEndingBedtime · 06/02/2022 16:16

*low and behold

HPandTheNeverEndingBedtime · 06/02/2022 16:17

Ugh I give up *Lo and behold

brio4ever · 06/02/2022 17:14

Hope you improve soon too @AllThingsServeTheBeam ! My voice is a little louder today, hopefully antibiotics are doing their thing.

LSLLM · 06/02/2022 17:59

I’m day 4/5 and i am managing to clean and do everything as normal thank god. This is nothing like the delta I had

BlueAbacus · 06/02/2022 18:19

Day 2/3 here and feeling like a head cold with a lot of fatigue. So relieved, nothing like whatever the March 2020 version was called! Those in households with young children, are you managing/trying to isolate? I’ve been wearing a mask but that’s about all I can do as they’re 3 and 1, I can’t just disappear. DH and the kids all currently testing negative….wondering if we should all just get it given I’m stuck indoors for 5-10 days anyway.

BlueAbacus · 06/02/2022 18:20

Also thanks OP, nice to have a ‘live’ thread Smile Hope everyone feels better soon and sorry to those who have had it badly.

Covidwoes · 06/02/2022 19:04

@BlueAbacus Mine are also 3 and 1. I'm on day 9 now and nobody else has caught it! Finding it very hard to rest properly though with young kids, which is probably why I still feel shattered!

BlueAbacus · 06/02/2022 19:14

@Covidwoes nightmare isn’t it! I’m trying to do 3yr old’s bedtime without sneezing all over him 🥴 hope you get some rest soon

User1412 · 06/02/2022 19:29

I had a high temperature on Monday and Tuesday. Was testing negative went to the docs on Friday as I thought I had bronchitis turns out I’ve got covid! Fever has gone but I’m feeling really tired, sore throat and slight cough.

Covidwoes · 06/02/2022 19:31

You too @BlueAbacus! I haven't limited physical contact too much, as my 3 year old has found it difficult as it is, but I have made sure she hasn't had any sneaky drinks from my cup, and we haven't shared any food etc. This is my second time with Covid. The first was towards the end of 2020 when I was 32 weeks pregnant, and my 3 year old was 2 and a few months! It was when we all had to isolate as well, so she was in with us for a fortnight. That time DH did catch if off me, so we were both ill! It took me weeks to get over the fatigue, and I'm convinced it's because neither of us could rest properly with a toddler in the house. Hope you feel better soon!

ifonly4 · 06/02/2022 19:33

Snoopsnoggysnog - DH suggested that this afternoon and I couldn't even think of any five letters wordsBlush. Good news is that I could facing cooking something half decent for tea - roast potatoes, DH had chicken and I had salmon.

DH going to try WFH tomorrow (day 7 for him). Not sure he's up to it, but he's got it booked off as we were meant to be away, but can change it to a work day if he works. He's going to try and get away with just doing his own personal admin, as his throat and mouth are still sore.

Covid isn't great, but I've had pneumonia twice in the past and I'm so glad it isn't resembling that for me.

OP posts:
blacknotblue · 06/02/2022 19:34

I tested positive on Tuesday - symptoms started on Monday. Worst day was probably Thursday. Today I tested negative still coughing slightly. Symptoms I have had - sore throat (so bad I had to get up to get pain killers) dry cough sneezing generally lethargic and low lying headache

NotquitewhatImeant · 06/02/2022 20:00

Ah this is the thread I need. Tested positive today (only 8hrs after a negative lft). Symptoms are headache, sore throat, aches all over and sore sinuses. Probably day 2 as had headaches and weird numb throat yesterday.
