Work saying I'm good to go in

What's the rules on faint positive lft and working?
I messaged my supervisor yesterday evening letting her know I had a faint positive on a lateral flow after feeling a little ropey (I'll attach the faint positive).
I then did another lft immediately after to double check and it was negative.
I did a pcr this morning and sent off as I have symptoms.
I've just asked what the process is in regards to work and I've been told I'm ok to go in until I get a positive.. I'm assuming they mean pcr unless they don't think my faint positive is a real positive.

What are your thoughts? I thought I had to isolate until pcr results but it's constantly changing so I have no idea

To me they look like tests that have been sat on the side for ages, the lines are not red or pink, they are almost black, and that's what usually happens when you leave a used test, they also can develop a faint watermark where the positive would be.

Viviennemary · 20/01/2022 12:41

Its a negative test. There's nothing wrong with you. Go to work.

TheVolturi · 20/01/2022 12:43

And the serial numbers on them are the same? The tests we have here have all got different numbers on them.

AlwaysinaFlap · 20/01/2022 12:43

Why is it black? I've never had one like this. I can't see a second line either.

Penguinno · 20/01/2022 12:45

Firstly, you shouldn't be looking at any results until after the 15 minutes has passed.

I would say both are negative.

Northernlurker · 20/01/2022 12:46

Go to work, give them covid, bask in knowing you were right Wink

MrsJBaptiste · 20/01/2022 12:49

Not from where I am standing. Can't see a line at all. Although wait, my kid has a telescope....I will be right back!

@LettertoHermoine Grin Grin Grin

I can't see any lines here, I swear some people just want these tests to be positive!

Fair enough OP you do now have symptoms but some people just love the drama of a positive LFT (not specifically you!)

Russell19 · 20/01/2022 12:50

Those tests are positive. There's clearly faint line. I really don't understand how people are saying they see nothing. Either way just say you feel unwell and are self certing for at least today...maybe longer, covid or not.

stupiduser · 20/01/2022 12:52

My dd had 2 negative lfts but had symptoms so had a pcr, it was positive and then the lfts showed up positive! Her friend (who she got it from) was testing neg on lfts, symptoms lasted 2 days so she went out and about on Sunday and into school Monday. She was finally tested with pcr on Monday evening and was positive. If you have symptoms book a pcr and isolate. It's not rocket science. Do not go to work

treeflowercat · 20/01/2022 12:53

@Mindymomo

You had positive on LFT, albeit feint, but still positive, you have symptoms, so you should isolate as is a legal requirement at the moment. It doesn’t really matter about PCR result, the rules are isolate after positive LFT.
Relevant symptoms are a continuing fever, not coughing etc.
vickyc90 · 20/01/2022 12:53

Roll on march!

treeflowercat · 20/01/2022 12:54

Sorry, please ignore my last post. I misread the Op.

Mumsnut · 20/01/2022 12:57

Did you swab your throat too? I know loads of people who got a neg from nose only but an instant positive when they tried again and did throat and nose.

marihen1 · 20/01/2022 12:58

I can see a very faint line and guidance says positive even if the line is faint. When i tested positive my test was very faint my DP was adamant that there was only one line but i was sure there were two, i could see it so clear. My next test was negative so i was unsure myself then but i had symptoms so booked a pcr. My pcr was positive.

HelloFrostyMorning · 20/01/2022 12:59

OMG this is the new 'am i pregnant?' trend! Grin People posting negative LFTs and saying 'can you see a second line everyone? I can!'

There's NO second line @shauna79 and you're fine. Get to work! (If you feel OK obvs!)

Bobholll · 20/01/2022 12:59

Just do another LFT.. if that’s also faint positive, you’ve probably got it. If it’s negative, tough call. I’d tell work you’ve started coughing & that you are now legally required to isolate until your PCR comes back.

Viviennemary · 20/01/2022 13:01

Not this line eyes nonsense with Covid tests too. Bad enough on pregnancy threads.

TyrannosaurusRegina · 20/01/2022 13:02

@LettertoHermoine

You would need a microscope to see that as positive.
Does the line thats there need to be a certain level of darkness before its deemed positive?
thisweeksusername · 20/01/2022 13:04

I can see a faint line on both. You should stay home. But I mostly came on here to say 'faint'= barely there, unclear. 'feint'= a pretend / fake / trick move or attack.

DavetheCat2001 · 20/01/2022 13:05

I had one like that.. had left it too long and got a faint line ( pic attached).

Did a second one and it was negative.

I didn't have covid.

Ahh thank you. I was wondering why the line was so dark
Fairylightsongs · 20/01/2022 13:07

People can argue it’s negative or positive, but the op did a follow up test and that was also negative which would support its negative.

Do a third one, see if that’s also negative..

Aldidl · 20/01/2022 13:10

Ugh, is your supervisor on the same shift as you? I’d be making sure to mention symptoms and faint line to as many colleagues as possible.

“Hi OP, how are you?”
“Oh feeling pretty ropey. Waiting for the PCR result after the faint line on my LFT”

Instagram · 20/01/2022 13:14

I can’t see the line and I have quite good eyesight not long had my check up.
If that’s positive I wonder how many people are not realising and carrying on as normal!

StellaGibson118 · 20/01/2022 13:15

I can see an obvious line and wondering what these comments are on about 😂 however iv had lines like that and neg pcr
