Work saying I'm good to go in

What's the rules on faint positive lft and working?
I messaged my supervisor yesterday evening letting her know I had a faint positive on a lateral flow after feeling a little ropey (I'll attach the faint positive).
I then did another lft immediately after to double check and it was negative.
I did a pcr this morning and sent off as I have symptoms.
I've just asked what the process is in regards to work and I've been told I'm ok to go in until I get a positive.. I'm assuming they mean pcr unless they don't think my faint positive is a real positive.

What are your thoughts? I thought I had to isolate until pcr results but it's constantly changing so I have no idea

You know what is really weird about all this covid do I have to isolate do I not thing - regardless of covid if you are sick you don't have to work. You call in sick. Whatever your symptoms are you tell you manager I have e.g a headache and a fever so I am self certifying unfit for work. You can now self certify for 28 days instead of 7 before having to see a doctor. www.gov.uk/taking-sick-leave

Can't believe some of these replies. She clearly said she isn't feeling well, so regardless of what you think the LFT says, she should wait to get the PCR results back. Add the LFT test to that (I personally can see a faint line) and she definitely shouldn't be going to work IMO.

But she isn’t unwell at all she’s ‘feeling a little ropey’ 🙄 you have to understand that there are thousands if not millions of people out there who for want of a better phrase are dramatic and mard and forever declaring themselves ‘ill’ if they all isolate and order PCR tests every time they feel a bit tired or rundown that day then the country will come to a standstill!
ESPECIALLY in light of the fact that despite all the pictures in different lights and trying so hard to see a positive her tests is still negative!

No she says she was feeling ‘a little ropey’ that’s absolutely not she clearly feels unwell is it 🙄 I feel a little ropey most really early mornings and quite often after 11pm if I have to stay up late!
Shauna79 · 20/01/2022 18:28

The symptoms I am having are -

Fatigue
Headache that won't go with paracetamol (3rd day now)
Feeling weak
Muscle aches
The feeling of getting a cold but it not turning into a cold.
Hot flushes but also goosebump cold

Obviously I'm sure these won't be good enough for some but I'd rather be safe than sorry and risk spreading it to others, if it means taking a day or two off work then what's the problem? Is it affecting your life? I'm not entirely sure why they're are some nasty comments on here when I'm just trying to do the right thing. If I just wanted a day off work I'd lie and self certify.. but I'm trying to look out for my family, friends and complete strangers (although not entirely sure on the strangers part if they are going to be unkind like this)

I'm sure if I had a bright red positive and went out I'd also be in the wrong🤣 as the saying goes 'can't do right from wrong' 😅

If you were so sure about doing the right thing, why post here? You asked for people’s opinions. I can’t see a line, tests look negative to me. If you’re sick, stay off work, no need to invent a covid positive result, ask people and get all huffy when they disagree with you.

ReeseWitherfork · 20/01/2022 19:35

and get all huffy when they disagree with you

Think any whiff of huffiness is at the bitchy posters claiming she's a big old dramatic skiver who just doesnt fancy going to work today. She's confused about the guidance, compounded because her understanding appears to be different from her boss's, so she's looking for others input.

Guessing lots of posters on this thread have worked with some absolute assholes who take the piss constantly and are projecting that onto OP.

@Shauna79 none of those are the three key symptoms which muddies the water here slightly. I think you know there's a chance you've got it and you want to play it safe, so I think you should tell your boss you've got a fever and isolate until the PCR comes back. Can't see the harm in doing another LFT tomorrow (but also can't see the benefit tbh).

Shauna79 · 20/01/2022 19:42

@ReeseWitherfork
Yeah I think I'm worried about the new variant because they're saying the symptoms are more along the lines of a cold/flu instead of the popular sore throat, fever ect.

This was no way supposed to be a thread on whether the line was there or not, much like you've just said, I'm confused with the guidance and wanted to know if my work are being reasonable or if they're making they're own rules. I obviously don't want to go against government.

I'll let my work know tomorrow that I'd rather go by government guidelines than the company seeing as I'm still not feeling great. Thank you

I'm being "huffy" with the rude comments. Much like yours. I wasn't asking opinions on whether the line was there or not and whether I should take the day off. I was asking if my workplace are going by the rules of government or if they're making they're own rules.

The name suits you by the way.
No need for it.
People like you just bully for the fun of it

@saraclara

Just to reassure me that I'm not going mad, can anyone see anything at all on these? I'm genuinely interested in why it's obvious on some people's screens and not on mine

(sorry for the minor threadjack, OP)

Because people have different computer/phone screens, different light conditions and different eyes. Your pictures wont make it any different ;)
katepilar · 20/01/2022 20:53

I am honestly shocked at so many people
a/comment on whether they can or cant see the line when this is not what the OP has asked,
b/ how many people think that if they cant see a line in a photo on an computer screen it has any relevance to whether the line is there or not.

SoupDragon · 20/01/2022 22:30

Shocked? Really?

Regardless, if the OP didn't want comments on the test then including photos of it was a bit daft.

Pootle40 · 20/01/2022 22:33

Who came up with the idea of a 'faint positive' on Covid tests? When did we decide they were like pregnancy tests. There is no line

It says it in the booklets. 🙄

But still a positive as the gov guidelines state 🤣👍🏼[/quote]
Someone’s keen to get a few days off work 🤣

Shauna79 · 21/01/2022 05:16

@DixonD
Of course, I've been doing this since it all started. I just really want that positive and risk to my health so I can get 5 days off

3luckystars · 21/01/2022 05:20

I see a line.

3luckystars · 21/01/2022 05:24

Sorry, I hit post too soon. There is a new flowchart thing with pictures on it with what to do if you are confused.

Dontknownow86 · 21/01/2022 06:40

Shauna79 I have covid at the moment and those are the same symptoms as I currently have. I also had a very faint test at first so I tested again the next morning and it was a lot clearer.

PlantWitch · 21/01/2022 08:05

@Shauna79 I have covid now and that's exactly what my symptoms are.

claireymrsd · 21/01/2022 08:07

If you have symptoms, you did the ruff thing getting a PCR and you should isolate until the result comes back. That's my understanding of the current rules.

Oxborn · 21/01/2022 09:40

That was exactly how I felt is your pcr back yet

Shauna79 · 21/01/2022 10:48

@Oxborn
4th day of a constant headache, starting to take its toll now.
I haven't got the results back yet 😔 I'm hoping I get them soon just so i know what's going on

Oxborn · 21/01/2022 12:30

Shouldn’t take to much longer bless you it’s not nice just rest as much as possible, plenty of fluids hope you have someone taking care of you because even if negative your clearly unwell Flowers

Kaylasmum49 · 21/01/2022 13:38

I can see a very faint line, I had one like that and had a positive pcr a day later. You are absolutely doing the right thing by isolating, ignore all the nasty posts. There are some really bitchy women on mn.

Hope you feel better soon.
