Work saying I'm good to go in

What's the rules on faint positive lft and working?
I messaged my supervisor yesterday evening letting her know I had a faint positive on a lateral flow after feeling a little ropey (I'll attach the faint positive).
I then did another lft immediately after to double check and it was negative.
I did a pcr this morning and sent off as I have symptoms.
I've just asked what the process is in regards to work and I've been told I'm ok to go in until I get a positive.. I'm assuming they mean pcr unless they don't think my faint positive is a real positive.

What are your thoughts? I thought I had to isolate until pcr results but it's constantly changing so I have no idea

What type of business is it? It must be incredibly frustrating for businesses when people are off with Covid but there's not much anyone can do about it.

MrsGHarrison87 · 20/01/2022 15:08

Your pcr will probably come back positive. I never even got any line at all on lft but my pcr came back positive. DH had covid and was getting positives but had a false negative the same day. I don't think they are very reliable but you should isolate if you have symptoms anyway.

BridgetJonesDaiquiri · 20/01/2022 15:12

I don't understand how some of you can't see a faint line here. The poster above who mentioned "magic eye" approach is right. Focus on the edge of the test and you'll see a line (albeit faint) on the test in your peripheral vision.

It's a positive OP. Register the result on Gov.UK and then isolate.

LostFrog · 20/01/2022 15:15

I can see a line. I expect if you do another this evening it will be more evident. I had symptoms for 3 days before getting a positive test - I did tests every day, dh and all kids had tested positive on Wednesday and I had cough and tickly throat but couldn’t get a positive result until Saturday

EsmeraldaandTeenytiny · 20/01/2022 15:15

@whenwillthemadnessend

Apparently if you lift to window light it's easier to see.
I almost walked over the the window to have a closer look. At the picture on my phone Blush

Brilliant!

Read the gov rules. Phine acas if you're not sure.

Next time dont tell work its faint. Tell them its positive and then tell them what you are going to do I.e. be off work. Dont give them a choice to guide you, you're an adult and you can decide if you're fit for work, you dont ask permission.

chocaholic73 · 20/01/2022 15:29

Surely if you're not feeling well you don't go to work? That pre-dates Covid. My understanding is LFTs are only accurate if you don't have symptoms and the OP says she does.

Getupoffthesofa · 20/01/2022 15:38

If you see a faint line and feel I’ll of course you shouldn’t go in. That is the rules as I understand it

Whammyyammy · 20/01/2022 15:41

I see 2 negative tests, your work is right. Maybe get a red pen and draw a line on, be more convincing that a faint line that isn't a faint line....

Leftbutcameback · 20/01/2022 15:42

I can see a feint line on both. Well done for getting a PCR so quickly OP and hope you start to feel better soon. I feel from what you say that your workplace are not denying the line, instead they have misunderstood the rules. Which to be fair do change on a fairly regular basis.

Leftbutcameback · 20/01/2022 15:44

faint

Covid deniers are SO tedious.
Merula · 20/01/2022 15:57

OP, We had the same with my 11 yr old daughter - a very faint line on LFT that I missed at first, as it was so faint, but my elder daughter pointed it out. We took another LFT and that had no line, but she'd been a close contact so we did a PCR, which came back positive. You are doing the right thing by not going to work until you have your PCR results, especially as you have symptoms.

TheVolturi · 20/01/2022 16:02

So is @saraclara the op or what? Because she has your tests op

Nuca · 20/01/2022 16:05

@TheVolturi I think @saraclara is saying the pictures are of OP's test but zoomed right in, to ask if people can still see the faint lines on the zoomed in versions

saraclara · 20/01/2022 16:20

Yes. Thanks!

BoredZelda · 20/01/2022 16:31

Very true! That’s 2 pics of the same test!

Yep. It’s the same test twice.

Ifonlyidknownthen · 20/01/2022 16:33

My first lateral was funny like that, by 6 hours later it was darker and by the day after it was definitely very clear

Bunnyfuller · 20/01/2022 16:47

No line there

SmallPrawnEnergy · 20/01/2022 17:07

OP clarified it was the same test in different lighting.

She also has symptoms and is waiting for pc reply results so she should be isolating regardless if half the eyes looking at these tests have line eyes or if half need to go to spec savers.

I fucking weep for humanity.

BluebellsGreenbells · 20/01/2022 17:14

I can see a line - mine was also very faint. People should be pleased you are taking it seriously and now wondering round infecting others.

I think you need to follow the law as it stands. Positive test, awaiting PCR with symptoms is isolation.

Hayisforhorse · 20/01/2022 17:16

As long as you checked and saw the second line within the specified time (could be within 30 mins but depends on test model), then it's a positive. Even if it's really really light and you can only see it with a torch. It's still a positive.

Gardeningdream · 20/01/2022 17:21

I have to be honest, for me that’s a totally negative test. Confirmed by the subsequent one which was also negative.

Oddbobbyboo · 20/01/2022 17:31

I can see a faint positive line on both! And I’m almost certain they will be more dominant in person. You have done the right thing stay home until PCR test is back.
