Work saying I'm good to go in

What's the rules on faint positive lft and working?
I messaged my supervisor yesterday evening letting her know I had a faint positive on a lateral flow after feeling a little ropey (I'll attach the faint positive).
I then did another lft immediately after to double check and it was negative.
I did a pcr this morning and sent off as I have symptoms.
I've just asked what the process is in regards to work and I've been told I'm ok to go in until I get a positive.. I'm assuming they mean pcr unless they don't think my faint positive is a real positive.

What are your thoughts? I thought I had to isolate until pcr results but it's constantly changing so I have no idea

You had positive on LFT, albeit feint, but still positive, you have symptoms, so you should isolate as is a legal requirement at the moment. It doesn’t really matter about PCR result, the rules are isolate after positive LFT.

CoastalWave · 20/01/2022 10:45

I can't even see a second line!

vickyc90 · 20/01/2022 10:46

I would say that is negative

Fairylightsongs · 20/01/2022 10:47

That’s negative, your work is right.

SpringRainbow · 20/01/2022 10:48

They both look negative to me.

Lubeyboobyalt · 20/01/2022 10:49

you have symptoms and got a positive lft, doesn't matter that it was faint, if covid is there it will pick it up, if not it won't - it did, so covid was there, line colour doesn't matter same as a pregnancy test. Positive is positive

I think pcr's aren't needed now if you get a positive lft? could be wrong

uhohspaghettiohh · 20/01/2022 10:50

I can see a line. You are right.

BrunoNoNoNo · 20/01/2022 10:51

Surely if you have symptoms and are waiting for PCR results you have to isolate until you get the results.

By the way my first positive lft was very very faint, but was much stronger the next day.

Only if you are asymptomatic. OP feeling ropey so needs one.
Akire · 20/01/2022 10:51

I can’t see a line but if you are positive by tomorrow should be darker. Would be sensible wait for PCR as it’s already done and you feel under the weather usually back in 24h. I’d play the I don’t feel well enough work card hopefully it’s a 24h thing see you tomorrow. Then should have PCR back and know for sure. Asking people who have covid symptoms work even when tested and waiting for results is only going pass it around more.

eurochick · 20/01/2022 10:53

They both look positive to me. No need to take a pcr, just isolate.

Newyearnewyearnew · 20/01/2022 10:55

Current guidelines state that if you have symptoms you should self isolate while you get a pcr test and wait for results. So you either isolate for a positive lateral flow, or you isolate because you have symptoms and are waiting a pcr. I think those saying go in are missing the bit about being symptomatic..

Emmelina · 20/01/2022 11:02

You legally need to isolate while you wait for the PCR result. Did you go to a site? Those are coming back quite quickly at the moment (sister currently off, came back early hours of next morning). Sounds like work needs the proof.

shauna79 · 20/01/2022 11:06

Update-
I told them the current gov guidelines and they've said because I'm fully vaccinated I still have to go in and then if I get a positive pcr I will have to go home.
It makes no sense, if they're just going to ignore symptoms and a faint positive test then what's the point in even doing the tests in the first place?

A few people saying they can't see the second line, that's fine but I can, and so can other people

3/4 of our household currently have covid and all had very faint lines on lft but got a positive result on pcr

BrunoNoNoNo · 20/01/2022 11:23

OP if you register your positive LFT test on the website you'll be contacted by test and trace telling you to isolate and you'll get an email you can show work as evidence.

LettertoHermoine · 20/01/2022 11:23

You would need a microscope to see that as positive.

Ipadflowers · 20/01/2022 11:26

And the next one was negative, I see the works position, I’d also say the op was negative, she’s unable to provide a properly positive test at all, and that test looks both negative and like it’s been left awhile.

shauna79 · 20/01/2022 11:27

@LettertoHermoine
But still a positive as the gov guidelines state 🤣👍🏼

OP posts:
Toddlerteaplease · 20/01/2022 11:28

I would also say that that is negative. Can't see a line.

shauna79 · 20/01/2022 11:28

@BrunoNoNoNo
Perfect, thank you

OP posts:
shauna79 · 20/01/2022 11:32

@Ipadflowers
The faint line showed within a few minutes.
Whether other people can see the line or not, I still have symptoms, and what I believe is a positive lft.
Once I sent it to my manager she asked straight away if I was going to do a pcr so surely she saw it too.
For the sake of possibly spreading covid I should at least isolate until I get pcr results back.

I'm not asking if people can see the line. I'm asking for the guidance. Thanks for your input

2pinkginsplease · 20/01/2022 11:32

They both look negative to me however if you have symptoms and have had a pcr you should isolate until you get the results.

SandyPanda · 20/01/2022 11:34

I can't see a line at all, even squinting.

Akire · 20/01/2022 11:35

If work are being so unrealistic I’d suddenly “start vomiting” they can’t argue with you over that. It’s worrying can’t see logic of waiting for PCR it’s like want to spread it around
